Year 2118
At this time, humans had advanced very far in their technology; however, the planet's resources began running very low. Even the deep oceans could not escape human greed and were slowly being left barren.
Human life also was longer than it used to be, as humans with current medicine could live to the ages of 200-250, with the oldest one reaching 271.
The gap between people had also grown in scale. Humanity had evolved to have an upper and lower class. The overpopulation led to 60% of the world living in poverty. And sadly, there was no escape from the ones at the bottom of the barrel. Any opportunity to climb the ladder to the elite was taken by those with money. Even if you had the talent to make it to the top, the poor were never given a chance to take the first step on that road.
This, however, soon flipped when the sun released a massive amount of energy. No one could explain how such a reaction occurred, but the burst was the least of their problems at the time. As the energy grew closer to earth scientist predicted a doomsday to occur. The energy would break the atmosphere and would release dangerous levels of radiation, killing all life on the planet as we know it.
However, unlike the doomsday that was predicted, when this energy hit Earth, the Earth underwent a massive change. Rapid evolution began. However, unlike the expected overtime evolution, this evolution was fast, reactive, and deadly.
This evolution was built on feelings and would adapt towards or against stimuli. If one felt no danger, one would not evolve. And even if one did feel danger, one would evolve to face the danger or adapted towards it. And this was not by choice.
Insects grew bigger to confront larger animals. Birds flew faster to escape and catch prey better. Deep sea creature would adapt to the lack of pressure. Trees that were being cut down now became as hard as stone. Flowers that were stepped on now developed poison. It wasn't long before humans were on the back foot.
However evolutioin still took time and energy. This led to cratures become more savage as they evolved. The need for energy and food led them to extremes. This led to a perpetual loop. With animals constantly in battle fighting for food, teratorry and adapting to the other who were evolving at a similar pace.
One of the earliest records was when a rich man went to hunt a deer in his private land. He managed to hurt it and had it bleeding, but couldn't kill it. Later records showed the deer healed and could run faster. After evolving it hunger soon led it to take revenge and kill the hunter who shot it, and eat him to the bone.
Later on, when things got drastic reasearch was conducted to try and combat the ever-growing threat. This reseach however reaviled bad news. Humans could not evolve. The gene of evolution that was found in the animals could not be replicated or applied to humans. The reason was that humans already had it, but with no initial stimuli to evolve, it led to the gene of evolution not developing.
But thankfully god did smile on them and humanty reagained hope. Although the elite had no means to evolve, the lower class did experience evolution. It wasn't the same as animals and plant though. Humans' overdependence on tools led to the lowerclass evolved to link with tools, as they were later called. And these tools, now partnered with humans, could evolve. An old butcher would link with a knife. An broke soilder linked with his trusted handgun.
Suddenly, the world shifted, and roles were reversed. The lower class, with their new tools, fought against the growing, evolving animals. This, in turn, had the poor grow stronger.
After the worst of it passed, the lower class soon realized the elite had nothing to stop them. They forcibly took back opportunities and wormed their way to sit toe to toe with the elite. Soon, when the lowerclass could control and work the system, the elite were no longer needed.
The roles now reversed led to what is known today as The World Revolution. The elite now became the poor. However, this would not be their fate. A man by the name of Gus Mathews was permitted to control the lower district in any manner he wanted. Gus, however, soon found an immense joy in torturing and killing the elite. A joy so raw it produced evolution. He's taken a glove, soon evolved into a torturous thing imflicting pain in the most unimaginable ways.
And where did the energy for the evolution come from? Well lest just say Gus is known as the first evolved cannibal. But soon it wasn't enough. Gus soon committed a genocide so grand it was known as the End of the Old Humans. His glove evolved to inflict pain so torturous that one touch was enough to drive a man mad, and that was if he didn't kill you.
However, even the end of the Old humans wasn't enough; he wanted more and soon turned to face the New elite. He, however, wasn't as successful this time. After taking over 3 cities and killing all the inhabitents he was soon killed by an elite ranged force and his own men. They led him to an open area and killed him from a distance where he couldn't reach anyone.
Old humans were gone, but the war of evolution was just getting started. Humanity has been at a constant war with animals to keep their throne as Apex Preditors of this new world. Let's see how it plays out.

Hey, guys, this is my second try at writing a novel. The first was when I tried writing Designing mechs from MOBAs. Sadly, I stoped becuase dispite the fun concept, it just didn't pan out.
But ya a head up for this book. I'll try to update it whenever I can, but I won't promise anything.
Also, a disclaimer. Yes, this is an evolution-based novel. There is no system and no way to calculate power. Later on, if I start a discord Ill add it to the synopsis. Evolution in this novel will not be as fantastical as most. No riving the dead, no immortality or suto immortality. No time or space manipulation. And evolution and powers require energy. You guys will see how I fix the issue of energy for stronger people, and I hope you guys enjoy this as much as I enjoy writing this.
