Chapter 4 - CHAPTER 2

"You play games, but I can't forgive"

Scene: Lunch break, 12:00pm, Dustan Public School.

Everyone was talking about the new teacher, Jino.

Amy was thinking the same—something about him just didn't add up.

Suddenly, the second topper of the school, Dhari Gori, dragged a chair from nearby and sat in front of Amy, turning it around casually. She leaned in close, her face inches away, and smirked.

"You look spaced out, girl. Need some help?" she said mockingly. "Shall I bring you back to the present?"

Without waiting for an answer, Dhari picked up Amy's water bottle and started drinking from it.

Amy's eyes fell to Dhari's hand. Scars. Poorly hidden under fresh bandages.

She knew exactly what they meant. Dhari had been beaten by her mother again—for losing the top position to Amy in the last final exam.

Amy spoke quietly, her face unreadable.

"Are you okay?"

The lack of emotion in her voice only made things worse.

Dhari's expression hardened. Without warning, she gripped the bottle tightly and threw the water straight into Amy's face.

Amy didn't flinch.

She calmly pulled out her handkerchief and wiped the water away.

"How dare you!" Dhari screamed and got up, locking eyes with her. "After all this, you're acting so innocent?"

At the front of the room, Suzan, who was cleaning the board, turned around. Anger flashed across her face. She picked up a piece of chalk and hurled it toward Dhari.

"Ouch!"

Dhari shot Suzan a sharp, furious look.

Suzan didn't back down.

"Do that again and I'll call the teacher for bullying," she warned.

Dhari's eyes widened. After a moment of tense silence, she said nothing—and walked out of the classroom quietly.

Amy watched her leave.

Nothing about that morning felt normal anymore.

Suzan rushed over to Amy, her voice full of concern.

"Are you alright? Don't let her get to you. She's just mean and pathetic and rude and disgusting and—"

"You can stop now," Amy said calmly, cutting her off.

She stood up from her seat and walked out of the classroom—not to follow Dhari, but to protect her own peace.

Adam had never liked Amy. As she passed by, he smirked and mocked her.

"Hey, Ammyyy, how was it? Did you feel alive?" he laughed loudly.

Adam and Dhari were in a relationship, so the insult came easily to him.

Amy didn't respond. She didn't even look at him.

 She simply kept walking.

Adam watched her go, irritation creeping into his thoughts.

What's wrong with her?

Scene: The Basketball Court, Dustan Public School

Amy sat on the bench, quietly watching the basketball team practice for the upcoming national tournament. The court was alive with movement—sneakers squeaking against the floor, the steady rhythm of dribbling, sharp calls echoing across the space.

Her best friend, Itai Ukki, was leading the team. As the captain, he didn't stand out because of his height—he was average, neither tall nor short—but his skill and game sense had brought him this far. Academics were never his strength. After school, he worked at the school's convenience store, owned by his father, to earn pocket money. His father had once been the basketball coach of Dustan Public School, before retiring five years ago.

Itai's eyes caught Amy on the bench.

"Hey, Amy! Wanna shoot?" he shouted, passing the ball toward her.

Amy reacted instantly. She caught the ball, took a brief moment to aim, and shot.

Goal!!

The ball went cleanly through the basket.

The court erupted with cheers.

Itai's voice rang out the loudest, pride and excitement clear as he pumped his fist in the air.

Itai took a break from practice and walked over to Amy. He sat down beside her. Amy gave him a faint smile.

"What happened?" Itai asked. "You look pale… and confused."

After a brief pause, Amy replied, "It's about the new classroom teacher. He feels… unusual."

Itai raised an eyebrow. "Oh? The first time something's caught your attention like this." He chuckled. "He was our substitute teacher for math. He's amazing. He started writing with both hands at the same time."

Amy looked at him closely.

"He's blind for sure," Itai continued, clearly impressed. "But he's so cool. I admire him. The girls are already all over him. It's barely been half a day and he's famous."

Still, Amy wasn't convinced.

"I have an idea," she said quietly. "I need your help. Tonight, we sneak into the teachers' staff room and look for clues."

"Clues like what?" Itai asked, intrigued.

Amy leaned closer and whispered,

 "Like… paranormal activities."

Itai blinked—then grinned.

"I think that's going too far," he said. Then, immediately, "But brooo, that's an awesome idea. I'm in!"

Convincing Itai was always easy.

Just mention ghosts, aliens, or supernatural powers—and he was already on board.
