Chapter 55 - Chapter 55

Chapter 55 The Fifth Skill (Part 1)

Finney Hellseg understood the meaning behind Tony's words; it meant he was targeting him. Given Tony's previous control over Jarvis, Finney didn't believe Tony hadn't taken any precautions.

But Finney didn't care for the Iron Man suit; wasn't 'Possessed by Evil' much better?

  "Then I'll come back tonight."

Tony was busy, and Finney couldn't stop him, but she still needed to gain experience. With April approaching, her experience bar was almost full; a little more effort and she could draw it.

"What have you two been up to lately?"

Pepper asked. Because of Tony's departure, she had a lot of things to manage at the company, but as his girlfriend, she knew they seemed to be busy together.

"Nothing much. I had some problems with my cultivation, and I asked Mr. Big Stone for help," Finney explained to Pepper.

Pepper had been Tony's assistant, and her interpersonal skills were far superior to Tony's, so their relationship had been quite good from the start.

  "How could he help you?"

Pepper couldn't help but look surprised; she knew Finney was studying magic.

"Hey, you have so little faith in your boss?"

Tony grumbled, clearly disapproving. Was he being looked down upon?

  "My former boss!"

Pepper smiled at Tony's jealousy, ceasing her inquiries. After giving Tony another once-over, she nodded and said, "Alright, we can go now."

"You guys get back to work, I'm heading home!"

Finney opened a portal. Due to S.H.I.E.L.D.'s covert surveillance, he always used portals to travel back and forth to avoid detection, and even his phone calls were encrypted.

Back home, Finney was somewhat bored. Since there were no classes at school that day, he simply called Skye, who was equally bored, back to their little shop to sell chicken nugget wraps.

According to Skye, every time she returned, she would encounter a large group of people asking when she would reopen. She had to admit, the system's introduction was quite reliable.

Finney's return thrilled those who had been eagerly anticipating 'Golden Chicken Nugget Wraps.' Seeing this, Finney even felt a pang of guilt, so he spent the entire day selling chicken nugget wraps.

When there weren't enough ingredients, he secretly used his skill to summon everyone, ensuring they were all stuffed. They even took several portions home before leaving satisfied.

Finney himself was exhausted. Although he'd earned a lot of money, he was used to summoning, and cooking by hand was just too tiring.

"I'll come back to sell when I don't have to worry about so much!"

At the end of the day, Finney silently decided that he'd come back to properly satisfy his customers when he could summon at will.

The day's hard work hadn't just brought him money; his experience bar had also increased significantly, bringing him one step closer to his fifth skill.

That evening, after finishing his training in Kamar-Taj, Finney went to fight Tony again, casually inquiring about the summons from earlier.

"They still want to copy my technology. My technology is at least twenty years ahead of the world,"

Tony replied arrogantly, launching a palm strike at Finney.

Dodging the white energy blast, Finney secretly scoffed. Before, this wouldn't have been so absolute, but Tony, having created a new element, certainly had more reason to be confident.

Exhausted after the battle, Finney went home and collapsed into bed.

This continued until April 1st, April Fool's Day, when Finney finally filled his experience bar with his fifth draw. Meanwhile, Tony, who had been his sparring partner almost daily, finally protested.

"I'm going to be organizing the 'Stark Industries Expo' again, so I might be a bit busy."      Hearing Tony's words, Finney understood what he meant. Fortunately, his experience bar was full after the fifth draw, so he replied, "Then you go ahead and do your work. I won't be coming over for a while. But why did you suddenly hold this?"

"Many reasons!" Tony said somewhat complicatedly, without explaining further.

Finney didn't inquire. Anyway, his experience bar was full, and Iron Man, the experience baby, could temporarily go offline.

As for the fifth draw, Finney still wanted to verify one thing.

Late at night, Finney went to Kamar-Taj again and found the Ancient One meditating alone. After hesitating for a long time, he finally took a deep breath and said,

"Teacher Ancient One, I have something I'd like to ask you for a favor."

The Ancient One sat cross-legged with her eyes closed. She didn't open her eyes after hearing Finney's voice, but simply asked, "What is it?"

"I want you to help me see how I will change in the next few minutes."

Finney still wanted to know if the Eye of Agamotto could predict the system's draw. Logically speaking, since the Ancient One could see his future, she should be able to predict it.

Hearing this, the Ancient One opened her eyes, her deep gaze fixed on Finney, and said, "Finney, do you know why I chose to see you in the first place?"

Finney was slightly taken aback, then shook his head. He had considered going to the Ancient One, but he had never imagined that she would come to him.

"Because I felt that you could bring unseen changes to the future I knew!"

the Ancient One said softly. "I once told you that your future is sometimes more numerous than imagined, and sometimes I can't even see anything at all."

"Although I don't know what you want me to see, in my view, your future time seems to be composed of many nodes. Before this node ends, I cannot see your true future, and within the nodes, your future is constantly changing, every second is a different future, and each time you look at it, it may not be the same future."

"And right now, you are between the nodes. I can't help you, Finney!"

After hearing this, Finney's feelings were slightly complicated. The Ancient One's meaning was clear: she couldn't predict the system's extraction, and in fact, as long as he remained in a state of non-extraction, the Ancient One simply couldn't see his future.

He seemed to understand what the Ancient One meant when she said his influence on the world was too great. If this logic held true, perhaps with him present, the Ancient One wouldn't even be able to use the Eye of Agamotto to observe the future.

After all, with his involvement, the world couldn't remain static.

If Finney's future was likened to a train journey, his journey would be like a series of carriages, with a compartment between each carriage.

The Ancient One could observe a short section of that carriage, but without traversing the compartments between them, she couldn't see the next carriage. And the compartments could only be accessed by Finney himself.

"I understand, thank you for your explanation."

Finney was silent for a moment, then stood up and thanked the Ancient One. The Ancient One could have easily kept these words from him, but she did, perhaps indicating that she had come to accept him during this time.

"It's alright!" Ancient One smiled, a thoughtful look in her eyes. "I just hope I didn't make the wrong decision back then!"

  "You won't!"

Finney said, as if as a guarantee, and bid farewell to Ancient One. The inability to predict the outcome of the draw didn't actually leave him feeling too disappointed; perhaps this proved the system's power was superior to the Infinity Stones.

Back home, Finney lay on his bed. The Time Stone was always the most agonizing aspect of his draws, but now that it was certain, he felt much more relaxed.

It was all about luck, after all; with such a handsome face, how could he not draw a good skill?!

Silently activating the luck boost from 'Golden Grand Evolution Technique,' Finney began his fifth draw. The moment he saw the skill, his eyes instantly filled with excitement!
