Chapter 188 I Have a Friend…
Finney let go of her hand, not daring to look any longer. It was one thing when she was invisible, but now she was in normal form; it would be so embarrassing to be discovered.
"Pietro Maximoff!"
Seeing Wanda's actions, Pietro hesitated for a moment, then came over to shake hands with Finney and introduce himself.
"Are you really planning to take us to see Tony Stark?"
Pietro couldn't help but confirm again. He didn't really understand Finney's purpose in doing this; was it simply to prevent them from seeking revenge?
"Yes!"
Finney nodded, but looking at their attire, he thought for a moment and said, "But let's change your clothes first!"
With that, he opened a portal to New York.
Pietro didn't go directly over, but turned to look at Wanda beside him, then suddenly said to Finney, "Can we talk alone for a few minutes?"
"Of course!"
Finney was slightly taken aback, then shrugged and walked away, leaving the two of them alone. However, the subtle 'breathing technique' he was using made him appear less casual than when he left.
Although eavesdropping was somewhat unethical, Finney still wanted to keep things under control, as it would be safer to deal with it that way.
"Should we go with him?"
Pietro asked Wanda in a low voice, glancing at Finney's distance.
"Do we have any other options now?"
Wanda looked at Pietro.
"We can go back to Sokovia!"
"And then?" Wanda glanced in Finney's direction, saying dejectedly, "We can't change anything. Everyone will still live in misery, and we won't be able to get revenge."
Hearing this, Pietro fell silent for a moment before continuing, "But he might be in cahoots with that Stark!"
"If he wanted to kill us, he wouldn't need to go through all this trouble, and..." Wanda shook her head, then hesitated slightly before continuing, "What else do we have to lose?"
Finney, who had been eavesdropping, sighed silently.
"And I also want to see what kind of person Tony Stark really is, whether he feels any remorse for the crimes he's committed!"
So many years of hatred couldn't be erased with just a few words from Finney, Wanda said, her eyes filled with hatred.
"Alright!"
Pietro squeezed Wanda's hand to calm her down, glanced at Finney who was casually admiring the scenery in the distance, and said, "Then let's go see this executioner!"
After making the decision, Wanda and Pietro went back to Finney's side without saying much, only saying, "Take us there!"
This made Finney feel like a driver, but thinking about their conversation earlier, he didn't say anything and casually opened the portal again.
The two of them had nothing but the clothes they brought from the lab; they didn't even have a piece of paper, let alone money. Therefore, Finney had to pay for the clothes.
The mall was huge, so there was a wide variety of clothes. Finney had brought Banner here once before, so he was quite satisfied with the quality of the pants.
The two quickly picked out their clothes and changed into them, looking quite impressive.
It must be said that the two siblings were extremely good-looking. Although Pietro couldn't compare to Finney, he was still above average, at least three or four blocks ahead of Billy.
Wanda, needless to say, perhaps because the weather was still a bit warm, chose a black fitted mini-dress with a red leather jacket, the neckline slightly open, revealing a patch of white skin.
Paired with black leather boots and sheer black stockings, she exuded an undeniable queen-like aura, attracting half the attention in the mall.
"Let's go, let's go!"
Seeing Wanda seemingly wanting to pick out more clothes, Finney, still invisible, quickly urged her on. It wasn't that he was worried about the money, but he knew that once a woman got shopping, it was hard to get her to stop.
Fortunately, Wanda wasn't an ordinary woman. Although somewhat reluctant, she adjusted her mindset and left the mall with Pietro, heading to the secluded corner Finney had indicated.
While the two were shopping earlier, Finney had already inquired about Tony's situation, and since he was currently at his villa researching spaceships, there was no need to find a time to meet him.
"Let's be clear first, I'm taking you to see him not so you can seek revenge, but so you can understand him as he is now."
Before opening the portal, Finney was worried that the two would be emotionally unstable after seeing Tony, so he gave them this special instruction. However, with him present, even if the two wanted revenge, it was unlikely they would succeed.
Wanda and Pietro understood this and both nodded.
Afterwards, Finney opened a portal and brought them to Tony's villa.
Because the shopping trip was too short, Finney didn't tell Tony everything, only that he was bringing two people to meet him.
So when Tony saw Wanda and Pietro, he didn't react much, except that he couldn't help but glance at Wanda's figure a few more times.
If he didn't already have a girlfriend, and if he wasn't still unclear about Wanda and Finney's relationship, he probably would have whistled or struck up a conversation by now.
"Who are they?"
Tony asked Finney, holding a drink in his hand, and noticed that the two were looking at him rather unfriendly.
"Your enemies!"
"Cough...cough cough..."
Tony choked and coughed several times before looking at Finney again and asking, "What?"
"Tell me yourselves, or should I explain?"
Finney looked at the two, but they just stared at Tony without answering, clearly unwilling to speak.
"Alright, I'll do it!"
Finney shrugged, sighed, and repeated what the two had told him to Tony. After listening, Tony's expression was complicated, and he remained silent for a long time, unsure of what to say.
"I'm sorry!"
Tony finally apologized first. He had experienced the pain of losing his parents and the terror of constantly facing death.
Although his initial motivation for developing weapons was to stop wars, he couldn't deny that he had actually created more wars.
Therefore, he understood the look in their eyes.
"Is there anything I can do to make it up to you?"
Tony took a deep breath and looked them directly in the eye. He wasn't the kind of person who dwelled on the past. If there were mistakes, he would try his best to correct and make amends. He had been doing this ever since Ethan died.
The two remained silent. Less than two hours had passed between leaving the Hydra base and meeting Tony Stark.
They felt that everything had happened too fast, and even if Tony offered to make amends, the hatred in their hearts wouldn't disappear so easily.
Looking at the three silent figures before him, Finney thought for a moment and spoke to Tony, "I brought them here to show them you've changed, and I hope they can get to know the you of today."
"They were living in a secret base in Sokovia before, but it's been bombed, so please arrange accommodation for them."
"Okay!"
Tony, of course, didn't care about a problem that could be solved with money, and immediately nodded, instructing Jarvis to find a villa with a beautiful environment and top-of-the-line facilities.
Looking at the still silent Wanda and Pietro, Finney didn't intend for them to simply let go of their hatred, and asked, "Why don't you go and rest for a bit?"
Hearing this, the two nodded.
Afterwards, Tony had them pick out a sports car from the garage and instructed Jarvis to activate autopilot and take them to the villa.
Finney didn't care if the two took the opportunity to leave; if they did, it didn't matter. He had only initially wanted to save them and let them live ordinary lives.
Without the Mind Stone's help, they shouldn't be able to suddenly awaken superpowers.
After Wanda and Pietro left, Finney and Tony sat in the living room. Tony stopped drinking his juice and went to the liquor cabinet to open a bottle of wine, drinking it glass after glass.
"Do you think it was the shell that killed their parents, or Obadiah who sold it?"
Finney asked suddenly, looking at Tony drinking silently on the sofa.
"And me, who developed the shell, I think we were both!"
Tony chuckled self-deprecatingly, handing Finney a glass and saying, "Want to have a drink with me?"
"Sure, and I also have something else to tell you!"
This time, Finney surprisingly didn't refuse. He took the glass, poured himself a full glass, sighed, and slowly said, "I have a friend…"
I don't even have a single friend…
