As Jon thought, he approached the cage.
He brought the candle in his hand closer, and the sight before him made his scalp tingle. None of the four people inside were whole.
The person kowtowing to Jon had no legs; judging from the marks on the gauze bandages, they had been chopped off very recently.
The two people behind him were missing an arm and a leg respectively. Blood foam seeped from both their mouths; their tongues had likely been cut out too.
The most miserable one was the person behind them. Not only did he have no limbs, but his eyes had been gouged out, his teeth knocked out, and there were even solidified black-red blood scabs near his ears.
Jon had seen quite a few severed limbs on the battlefield, but this was the first time he had seen someone tortured like this and still alive. Since his own psyche was normal, seeing such a scene inevitably made him uncomfortable.
The four people locked in the cage seemed to sense that Jon was not Euron. Especially the one who only had his legs cut off; he looked at Jon like a dog and said in a particularly pitiful tone: "L-Lord, save, save us."
He seemed to realize that Jon was not from the Free Cities and couldn't speak Valyrian, so he communicated with him in the Common Tongue.
"Who are you?"
"My Lord, I am Pyat Pree. I am a Warlock of Qarth from the far East. The master of this ship imprisoned and tortured us. These are my companions."
"Qarth—Warlock?" Jon suddenly remembered that these warlocks didn't seem to be good things either. They had lured Daenerys into the House of the Undying, seemingly wanting to drain her life force.
Thanks to Daenerys's dragons waking up in time, they were driven away.
Besides, their House of the Undying seemed to have peculiar aspects, even managing to prophesy the situation in Westeros.
Daenerys saw five dwarves ravaging a beautiful woman in the House of the Undying, which actually mapped to the "War of the Five Kings," and that beautiful woman represented Westeros.
However, with Jon in this timeline, Daenerys might have seen a different picture.
Putting these matters and judgments aside for the moment—as for why they were caught by Euron—Jon simply asked about the whole story.
It turned out that when Euron found them, these warlocks were very surprised. Because ordinary people couldn't enter their House of the Undying at all, they launched an attack on Euron.
As a result, the armor on Euron was actually Valyrian steel armor, and their magic completely lost its effect.
Euron captured more than half of the warlocks from the House of the Undying. He learned magic from these warlocks while traveling. If anyone could no longer teach him new magical knowledge, Euron would kill him and throw him into the sea.
Originally, Euron caught a dozen warlocks, but now only the four of them were left.
Realizing that Euron's magic seemed to be learned from these warlocks, Jon asked them about Alerie.
To this, the warlock answered honestly: "My Lord, rest assured, this is just a very common trick. The master of this ship must have used some method to send a lamp to that noble lady. You only need to destroy that lamp and let the lady sleep, and she will be fine."
"A lamp? Okay, I know." Jon nodded, then asked again: "Then do you know how Euron controls those sailors?"
"This—forgive my shallow knowledge, I'm not too sure, but I've seen it many times. Those sailors were originally normal people, but the master of this ship would use various cruel means to destroy their spirits. When they completely lost the will to resist, they would become walking corpses at his command."
"Destroy their spirits?" Jon grasped this key information.
When he was training ravens, the reason he fed them was actually hoping to weaken their resistance to his control.
Plus, like other members of the Stark family, he owned a direwolf and raised it as his partner, which created a certain inertia of thinking, that is, to win "animal partners" for himself through showing kindness.
Euron obviously took another path, which was to use pure violence and fear to obtain puppets who only knew how to obey orders.
"Wait! Hodor!"
Somehow, Jon thought of Hodor in Winterfell. After Bran was crippled, Hodor basically acted as his nanny.
If Hodor became like this because the Greenseer crossed the river of time and space to make him "hold the door"...
Even Bran could control Hodor later; didn't it mean that Hodor's soul and will were also destroyed by the Greenseer?
Thinking of this, Jon felt a chill down his spine.
If the Greenseer really possessed the ability of "omniscience," did he know about Jon's affairs? How much did he know about the soul of this outsider?
Also, where did Euron's ability, which was almost like a Greenseer, come from?
Obviously, Bran was the one chosen by the Greenseer.
A series of questions left Jon clueless.
At this time, Pyat Pree quietly looked at Jon with a probing look from the side, as if thinking and figuring something out.
After all, compared to the demon-like Euron, Jon was more like a normal person.
Whether he knows or not, finding a way to make myself strong is the right path! Not knowing how long it took, Jon figured out this key point, which made the feeling of chill down his spine subside a lot.
At this time, the warlock Pyat Pree spoke again: "My Lord, please, please kill the person behind us. He is in too much pain."
"Kill?" The reaction of this warlock named Pyat Pree changed a bit drastically, which puzzled Jon and made him wary.
He glanced at the warlock behind him who had been blinded, deafened, and crippled, lying there like a pile of rotten meat.
Continuing to observe that guy with [Divine Vision], he found that although there was gray on his body, it wasn't much thicker than the others; instead, there was more fear.
Pain was pain, but it hadn't reached the point of seeking death.
But why did Pyat Pree want him to kill him?
"A warlock's words are like a palace built of bones." Jon remembered there seemed to be such a saying specifically used to describe these notorious warlocks.
He was still in a cage himself, yet he started lying to him; truly bold.
Seeing that Pyat Pree's tongue hadn't been cut out yet, it meant he was still teaching Euron magic. Jon could also get some news about the Free Cities and Daenerys from him.
It wouldn't be too late to kill them after squeezing the news and intelligence out of them.
However, Jon didn't say anything, but said: "You have arrived in Westeros now and are safe. The Citadel is not far from here. There are Maesters with the most brilliant medical skills there; maybe they can save his life."
"Th-thank you, my Lord, for your mercy."
Jon didn't say anything more. He thought there was a big problem with these warlocks.
Jon looked around and thought there should be no danger on this ship, so he said: "You wait here first; my men will be here soon."
"Yes, my Lord. The gods will reward your mercy." The bald, thin warlock deliberately said with surprise and joy.
"Hmph, the acting is still a bit poor."
After simply comforting him, Jon prepared to leave the cargo hold below the deck that served as a prison.
Just as he was about to leave, he remembered he hadn't had time to check those boxes, so he opened a few and glanced at them, finding they were all treasures, gold, and silver.
Conservatively estimated, the value was also two or three hundred thousand Gold Dragons.
There were also some medicinal herbs and such. After looking at them, he returned to the cabin. According to Pyat Pree, he came to another cabin door, which was simply closed but not locked.
After all, on this ship, Euron was almost like God; there was no need to lock the door at all.
Jon opened the door and found that this room was piled with jars and bottles. The whole room was filled with a strong smell of herbs and a strange sweet smell.
Obviously, these were not proper things. Jon saw a desk by the window, piled with various notes and books, and there was also the kind of oil lamp he mentioned.
Seeing this scene, Jon couldn't help but smile. It seemed that to destroy the world, one also needed enough knowledge.
Of course, Jon would keep these notes and books.
Soon, Jon saw the thing he had been looking for next to the desk—Valyrian steel armor.
Armor that was said to be directly immune to magic!
Compared to dragon eggs that he didn't know when they would hatch, Valyrian steel armor had already proven its power. Jon leaned closer and saw that the armor was covered with dragon scale patterns the size of fingernails.
No, not patterns. These dragon scale-like shapes were actually interlocking rings fused together, and they possessed a certain ductility. With Jon's figure, he could fit into it completely.
At the same time, these dragon scale shapes also had ripple textures similar to Valyrian steel swords. Staring at them for too long even made one involuntarily lose focus.
It was a creation of the Valyrian period at first glance; there was absolutely no mistake about this.
Jon found that Euron's luck was indeed good. Not only was the armor very complete, but even the helmet was not lost.
Maybe it was stripped directly from the remains of a dead Dragonlord in Valyria. It also couldn't be ruled out that Euron was very lucky to find the treasury of a Dragonlord family.
A Valyrian steel sword was hard to buy with a thousand gold pieces, and a suit of Valyrian steel armor could even be described as priceless.
But then again, it would have been great if Euron had found a few Valyrian steel swords in addition to finding this suit of Valyrian steel armor. Unfortunately, Jon's luck wasn't that good. Just rummaging through the room for a while, Jon only saw some Valyrian steel products, such as necklaces and the like.
It seemed Euron didn't find a Dragonlord's treasury; he was too greedy.
