Nora's POV
We pull up to the bar after a brief drive, finding parking about a block away from our destination.
The moment I step out of the car, an unsettling sensation washes over me. I lift my hands into the cool evening air, testing the atmosphere around us.
"Something feels wrong tonight," I tell James, studying the energy that seems to pulse beneath the surface of everything. "It reminds me of a full moon night, but the moon is barely a sliver."
James circles around to my side of the car, his expression thoughtful. "I sense it too." He tilts his head back and draws in a deep breath through his nose. "There's magic in the air, but it's not like anything I've encountered before." Another careful inhale. "It's twisted somehow."
My heart jumps in my chest. "Angel magic?"
"No, definitely not that."
Relief floods through me, though it's short-lived. "Well, that's something at least. But we both know what unexplained supernatural weirdness usually means around here."
