Nora's POV
"Yeah, absolutely. That wild storm knocked out everything. The entire block went dark. What else can we do? I'm here with Starla this morning."
"Okay," I begin, remembering the last time we dealt with this. "We can process payments through an iPad and handle cash manually. You'll need a calculator for making change. I'll come help get everything sorted. Put up a sign right now letting customers know they'll either need cash or wait about twenty minutes for card processing. Give me a few minutes to pull myself together and I'll head over. The emergency lighting working?"
"Yeah. It's pretty spooky in here, but I'm into it."
I laugh despite my tiredness. "Good. Many people there right now?"
"We had a rush when the downpour started, and everyone stayed to wait out the rain. Now they're all stuck trying to figure out payment."
"Handle any cash transactions and write them down. For cards, tell them we'll offer ten percent off for the inconvenience."
