Nora's POV
A shiver travels down my spine as his words sink in. "I understand," I whisper.
This is his way of claiming me completely, ensuring no other vampire can touch what belongs to him. It's an ancient vampire tradition of exclusivity, but the consequences are severe. A vampire with James's age and power could compel countless humans to serve him, and if another vampire dared to feed from his claimed territory, even accidentally, he would have the legal right under Vampire Law to end their existence.
"I want to belong to you."
His fangs descend again as he searches my face. "Are you certain? You know what I am. The things I've done. The darkness I still carry."
"I know." I draw my knees up, pressing myself against his hardness, and cradle his face in my palm. "I know exactly the man you are."
