Energy courses through my veins like lightning trapped beneath my skin. The sensation reminds me of drinking too much coffee on an empty stomach, except this buzz comes from somewhere deeper. Something ancient and powerful hums in my bones, as if the universe itself is feeding me strength without my asking for it. When I focus on the feeling, really concentrate, I swear every cell in my body vibrates with raw power.
The wind around us settles to nothing, and Katherine's torch flame shifts from orange to deep red.
"They're waiting for you," Katherine announces, waving her hand over the flame until it dies completely. "Time to go." She turns away, lifting her palm and whispering words I can't catch. "After you." She steps aside, gesturing toward the doorway that materialized from her spell.
