Nora's POV
"You might want to consider a vanquishing potion as well."
I pull two glass vials from the cabinet, holding them carefully. "Just be careful not to get any on your skin since there's vervain mixed in and it'll burn."
"Nora," James says with gentle patience, though I catch the hint of amusement dancing in his eyes. "You've already armed me like I'm heading into battle. I can't walk into a Vampire Council meeting trying to convince them my wife is just an ordinary human while carrying magical potions."
"He's right about that," Katherine chimes in. She arrived moments ago, and we're gathered in the kitchen with at least six books about Watson lines scattered across the counter. James needs to head out soon for the drive to Paradise Valley to make the VC meeting on time. Naturally, I'm a bundle of nerves and still completely convinced James is walking straight into an ambush.
