Chapter 566: Konoha, You Win
"Kakashi, hurry! Give it to me! Keep giving it to me!"
Might Guy caught the fresh green jumpsuit Rock Lee threw over and looked at Kakashi with an eager expression.
Shira used the Seven Heavens Breathing Method. He chose to absorb Kakashi's scent, even the air Kakashi exhaled, into his lungs in hopes of finding inspiration.
So what was Guy supposed to do?
First, between the sweat produced by the Seventh Gate and the heart from the Eighth Gate, Guy chose the Seventh Gate.
After all, opening the Eighth Gate meant certain death.
Well... why did that suddenly sound like something Rock Lee would do during the Chunin Exams?
In any case, Seven Gates versus Seven Heavens—both had "seven" in the name, so it wasn't really holding back.
After spending the past few days exchanging taijutsu techniques, Guy had also learned about Shira's Seven Heavens Breathing Method.
The Seven Heavens Breathing Method relied on a special way of inhaling massive amounts of oxygen, allowing the user to enter three stages. The Third Activation was currently Shira's strongest state.
Maybe there was even an "Eighth Heaven," where you fought while breathing pure oxygen, then immediately died of oxygen poisoning afterward?
With the mindset of giving it everything he had while staying within the limits of a friendly spar, Guy needed even more of Kakashi's sweat.
But this was only one of Kakashi's Shadow Clones. It had already been dragged around running for so long that it had sweated heavily. If it sweated any more, it would explode.
Not figuratively.
The Shadow Clone was literally about to burst.
Fortunately, Kakashi's real body arrived just then.
After receiving the memories from the Shadow Clone with Shira and letting out a miserable scream, Kakashi sat in the tent for a while, reliving the experience. Then he suddenly remembered there was still another Shadow Clone with Guy.
Kakashi had already noticed that Guy was intentionally copying what Shira was doing.
He simply hadn't pointed it out because he wanted the two of them to keep each other occupied instead of bothering him.
But now...
"Guy, yamero! Stop it!"
The moment Kakashi arrived, he heard Guy saying something strange.
Something about "give it to me."
Give him what?
Kakashi immediately panicked. Before he even saw what they were doing, he shouted for Guy to stop.
"Kakashi, you came at the perfect time! Hurry, give it to me! I still need more!"
Holding the green jumpsuit, Might Guy rushed over and wiped away every drop of cold sweat that had appeared on Kakashi after he received the Shadow Clone's memories.
Kakashi was completely dumbfounded.
Then he watched as Guy tossed several sweat-soaked green jumpsuits into the air.
"Eight Gates! Seventh Gate—Gate of Wonder, Open!"
"Neji! Lee! I'm counting on you!"
Guy erupted with chakra as he opened the Seventh Gate. The violent shockwave blasted the surrounding sand away.
"Right! Leave it to us! Neji, let's go!"
Rock Lee nodded vigorously and looked at Neji with anticipation.
"...Fine."
Neji thought, 'I should've watched from farther away. Instead, I got dragged into this ridiculous job. This is so embarrassing.'
But there was no helping it.
Guy-sensei had already opened the Seventh Gate.
He couldn't just let him do that for nothing.
"Primary Lotus—!"
"Revolving Heaven!"
Neji and Rock Lee grabbed opposite ends of the jumpsuits suspended in the air and began spinning at incredible speed.
The jumpsuits twisted into tight ropes before bursting apart.
During the process, all of Kakashi's sweat trapped inside splashed downward onto Might Guy, who was standing below with the Seventh Gate activated.
"Watch closely! This is Kakashi's and my burning-hot combination technique—Daytime Tiger!"
Guy launched a compressed air blast, carrying an overpowering stench of sweat, across the ocean's surface.
"D-Zone." (East Asian internet slang, "D Zone" refers to the underarm (armpit))
After witnessing the whole scene, Hoshigaki Nanami immediately threw up.
You win, Konoha.
Could your Konoha ninja possibly get any more disgusting?
The only fortunate thing was that Guy didn't know that sweat and urine were actually quite similar.
Otherwise, he might have used something else instead of sweat to increase the dosage.
"Ah... it hurts so much."
After closing the Seventh Gate, Might Guy collapsed onto the ground, crying out in pain.
"Uh..."
Coming back to his senses, Kakashi hurried over.
"Guy, what were you thinking? You know perfectly well what the side effects of opening the Seventh Gate are. Why would you—"
"It's fine, Kakashi. I already planned for this. Besides, aren't your subordinates here?"
"My subordinates?"
"Kakashi-sensei, move aside! We're here!"
Sakura's voice came from behind them.
It turned out Tenten had quietly slipped away earlier to find Sakura and Ino.
Both Sakura and Ino were studying medical ninjutsu under Tsunade.
The problem was that as the ninja world became more peaceful, there were fewer and fewer injured patients.
These days, Sakura and Ino mostly treated colds and fevers. They were practically turning from battlefield medics into clinic doctors.
Even Tenten couldn't stand watching that.
So she immediately thought of them.
In Tenten's opinion, sparring and training between two taijutsu specialists often resulted in all kinds of internal and external injuries. It was the perfect opportunity for Sakura and Ino to treat patients while improving their medical ninjutsu.
Before leaving, Tenten had even informed Guy-sensei.
Guy understood her idea and gave her a big thumbs-up in wholehearted approval.
That was why Guy had used the Seventh Gate without any hesitation.
Getting injured from opening the Seventh Gate was also for the sake of giving Konoha's younger generation practical material to practice medical ninjutsu on.
That definitely didn't count as breaking his self-imposed restraint.
"Huh? Sakura-chan? Why are you here?"
Naruto, who had been happily watching the show from the side, spotted Sakura and immediately rushed over with a goofy grin like a fly spotting a pile of crap.
"Don't bother us. We're treating Guy-sensei right now. This concerns both his health and improving our medical ninjutsu."
Without even turning around, Sakura answered in an unusually serious tone.
Ino curled her lips.
Could Naruto seriously not see her standing here?
Oh well.
Maybe it was better if he couldn't.
"What? No—Bushier Brows-sensei, don't die!!!"
Naruto's face changed dramatically. Tears instantly streamed down his face as he threw himself onto Might Guy.
"Hiss! Ah! Naruto, what are you doing?!"
Guy cried out in pain from the impact.
"You idiot, Naruto! What are you doing?!"
Sakura finally snapped and punched Naruto away with one swing.
"But didn't you say you wanted to improve your medical ninjutsu?"
Naruto stood up rubbing his face, looking completely wronged.
"But... isn't it true that the more people a medical ninja accidentally kills, the better their medical ninjutsu becomes? Bushier Brows-sensei is about to become experience points for your medical skills!"
"Where the hell did you hear such ridiculous nonsense?!"
Ino couldn't stop herself from swearing.
This was the first time she had ever heard that the more patients a medical ninja killed, the better they became.
So how many people had Tsunade accidentally killed?
"It says so in a book! Books can't lie, can they?"
Naruto immediately puffed up with confidence.
Ever since Konohamaru suggested it, Naruto had actually started reading in order to become Hokage. It was rare for him, but he had learned quite a bit of "knowledge."
"..."
As the loyal reader of several novels, and their nominal author, Kakashi felt he had more than enough authority to answer whether books could contain lies.
