Chapter 34 - Makima: A Rampaging Devil.

I adjusted my necktie and kept sipping on the warm cup of tea that I've brewed. I found a neat little place in this domain full of pools. The steam from the cup danced, a distracting reprieve from this prison.

I've actually given up on trying to locate the exit from this place. There were ripples scattered everywhere, entrances that led to another prison.

However, I refuse to enter any other entrances. I refuse to dance on the palms of the devil that governs this place. If there even was one.

I took another sip. Too hot.

The fight from afar just ended. The bigger and watchful distraction was gone now.

The boy who can summon shadows, the boy whose power came from quirks, and the magenta-haired human have fled. Their scent is strange indeed.

My desire to control them grew every time I heard them talk and discuss. This place was slowly breaking them, and it's only a matter of time before they succumb to the ordeal. I just need to swoop in and save the day.

Aren't I such a good hero?

A slight chill washed over me. This amount of strength and power. It was enormous. It didn't just come from one but instead from two. I can't even enjoy a cup of tea in peace.

There were two massive powerhouses working together.

One was a red-haired knight, dressed in fine noble clothes and with the personality of a knight in diamond-encrusted armor. I absolutely refuse to go near him. I can't even focus on his scent; it was overwhelmingly annoying to the nose.

The other one was a silent and reserved type. He can summon shadows, but way better than that, Megumi Fushiguro. Anyways, he controls an extremely loyal shadow army that is a dozen times stronger than most hybrids.

It's an intoxicating scent and sight. A forbidden fruit in a way. It wasn't a problem if you observe, only when you try to pluck it away from the tree.

However, they aren't the only powerhouses here.

First, there is that rampaging summon, Mahoraga.

Second, that deadly regaled king skeleton who overloaded my senses. That skeleton stood at two meters high, holding an archaic golden caduceus staff that had serpents with jewels on their mouths. I don't believe in magic, but that thing was straight out of a fantasy world.

This feeling of not being the biggest fish in a pond. It was irritating yet refreshing. I've learned a lot from this place. I know now that there are worlds out there, beyond my reach and beyond my power.

To simply grab onto a different world and control it. The mere idea of it made me think like an excited child going into a confectionery store with a blank check.

Now then, time to face this Mahoraga shikigami. It was even more powerful than the Gun Devil since Mahoraga can adapt to anything. What a curious thing but it still needs more adaptations.

To snatch it away in its current form won't do. It needs more.

I placed my cup at the table and grabbed my neatly folded trench coat from the table. It was time for a rematch, nay, a recalibration. I am even beginning to think that this whole place has been a very wonderful and educational vacation.

I stepped into the battlefield, scanning the whole area, and I must say it was a huge mess. The walls were torn down, and the flat ceramic ground was now severely uneven and uplifted.

"Oh?" I turned in the direction where there was a thick, heavy smoke. An emission from that quirk power. Quirks are really fascinating. Anyway, that didn't catch my attention.

It was the slowly approaching figure of Mahoraga. Its steps were careful. Did it acknowledge the threat that I posed to it, or was it just taking its own time?

Mahoraga appeared from the smoke, carrying that heavy grin again. The eight-wheeled vehicle floating above its head was twitching, eager to turn. That blade coming out of its right hand was glowing.

"That's horrible, you know? That was your summoner, and you attacked him just like that, don't you have a heart?" Oh wow, my excitement peeked through; it was difficult to contain.

Without a moment's notice, Mahoraga charged forward and swung that sword against me. I made sure to dodge. Its speed slightly surprised me; it had gotten faster.

My powers were fractured here, and my immortality was inconsistent. While there were Japanese citizens here, they were the citizens of a different Japan.

In a contract, everything has to be precise, and while this is a strange situation where exceptions may play, it was still better to play safe.

My metallic chains shot forward and coiled around Mahoraga, keeping it restrained and unable to move. It squirmed as it aggressively tried to claw its way out.

It was like chaining a rabid dog, and it was breaking free. It was even more invigorated than the last time I fought it. I recognized that this is quite the conundrum. It stomped its feet against the floor, obliterating the already fractured floor even further.

It made me lose my balance, but I easily stabilized myself with the chains. I then extended my right arm and did a finger pistol gesture.

"Bang!" "Bang!" "Bang!" "Bang!" "Bang!" "Bang!" "Bang!" I kept firing a relentless rapid bullet assault against Mahoraga. My chains have dropped to the floor as its form vanished, only the eight handled wheel remained along with a speck of flesh.

Clang.

The wheel turned.

"Ah."

Within an instant, Mahoraga regenerated to its full form, then charged forward, punching. It was even faster than before. I blocked it with my arms and chains, but the force still sent me back.

I crashed into the wall, destroying it. "Oh?" I gasped as I looked at my two broken arms.

"My, my, this is quite the trouble," I said, standing up. Mahoraga was now sporting a predatory smile, like a predator seeing another predator whimper.

We paused as an enormous presence approached rapidly. Reinhard van Astrea, that knight, was breaking down the foundations and walls.

I don't want that kind of heat yet.

My rats came out of me and then swallowed my presence. Mahoraga noticed a second too late, it slashed the air instead as my rats scurried.
