One week later, Conrad and Leorio stood up in an open courtyard with nobody but them.
Conrad nodded at Leorio with a smirk, and then Leorio sprinted towards him with a punch.
Conrad smiled again and dodged to the right, and then Leorio attacked again, this time with a left punch. Conrad stopped, dodged again, and then held the left wrist of Leorio with his right hand and pulled him towards the backside, sending Leorio five metres into the air.
Leorio felt like a doll for a moment as he landed.
"Are you serious?" he could not but ask within his mind.
He was having a lot of difficulty just trying to see the movements of Conrad, and he knew that Conrad was not using his top speed or anything at all.
"Again."
"Now that you have finished your hatsu training, you should get used to entering close combat with other nen users if it is needed."
Leorio nodded, and this time he tried to kick. Conrad stopped the kick with his own kick and shook his head.
"Do not try to kick any enemy if you don't know how; you are giving the enemy openings, no more than that."
Leorio nodded, and the duo kept on training for about two hours.
Leorio sat down on the ground after two hours and shook his head.
"I cannot see how I am going to hit you even for just one."
Conrad laughed.
"You do not need to hit me."
"You just need to learn how to hit and block and also dodge."
"You may fight in a range later on in your life, but it always makes sense that you learn how to fight in close combat."
Conrad made a finger and said, 'Seriously.'
"Ability to read an opponent, decide on the heat of the battle, and decide how to respond to an opponent—all of these things may just seem like close-combat techniques, but in battles, when it comes to battles, they are not that different."
Leorio seemed to listen with great interest, so Conrad continued.
"It is more than likely that when you enter an enemy nen user or even a wild beast, you would not know what it is capable of and what kind of abilities it possesses."
"If you don't know how to read an enemy like that and deduce their abilities and respond accordingly, you are going to be hit by an attack, and that would be the end of you."
Leorio felt cold air from his neck as he listened.
"I understand..." he said.
"But, in the end, I want to be a doctor, not a fighter."
Conrad nodded.
"I am aware of that."
"But any nen user worth his salt still has some capability to fight."
"What would happen if one of your friends were injured and you wanted to tend to them, bandage their wounds, or something..."
"But an enemy did not let you do that."
"Would you watch your friend die and just take care of that enemy and then help your friend?"
Leorio facing the example gritted his teeth.
"I guess... you are right."
Conrad smiled.
"You will learn."
"Now."
"I prepared another set of documents for you to learn and study."
"It involves some aspect of NEN. I will give you one month this time to learn three things; one of them is called Gyo, another is Ryu, and the last one is Ken."
"After you finish these and can stand using "Ken" for at least ten minutes for the start, I will start helping you in the matter of how an ability is created and what kind of things were important in that matter."
Leorio nodded, and then Conrad gave him the document, just three papers; it is hard to call it a document, but still.
"Hmm…"
"It does not seem too hard." Leorio nodded.
At the same time, he looked around for a moment and noticed that Conrad was long gone.
He smiled helplessly.
"That guy is different..." he murmured with a funny face as he went to his house to take a shower and start studying.
-
After Conrad left the side of Leorio, he felt within his deep soul that it was time to finish his new ability; truth be told, he also wanted to change its name too.
He had something in his mind, but at this point, he had some other idea for the name.
He bought the ticket and got ready to go to the final destination for his ability.
He needed to spend some time in heat.
-
One month later, at the top of a small mountain, Conrad sat down in a meditative position.
Compared to other times, this time, the hot environment he spent his time in did not have any kind of mystery or connection to the dark continent creatures or anything.
It was different than Cradle City and Viridian.
Now that he has completed three creational conditions.
He whispered.
"Resistance of Darwin".
"A passive and active Nen ability"
"First Ability"
"Three-Element Resistance"
"Grants natural and passive mental and physical protection against three elements used in the creational conditions, namely, poison, cold, and heat. While the user spends time in these environments or gets hit by such types of attacks, the user spends 30% more "Nen" in all actions he takes in return for the protection."
"Second Ability."
"Resistance Of Darwin"
"Can be used for three hours every twenty-four hours."
"It grants the Nen user the ability to resist poison-type environments and attacks, heat-type environments and attacks, cold-type environments and attacks, and much more than three elements of resistance."
"If used, three hours of heightened protection are used, a selection needed within the user's soul."
"A user can only choose Poison, Cold, or Heat, heightened defence, to use Darwin Resistance. While used, the colour of the user changes according to the chosen element."
"Due to only choosing one while losing some of the other parts of the defensive protections, it almost protects the user from the chosen element by about 90% while spending nen while the ability is active, increasing to 40% in all actions."
Conrad let out a deep breath and then smiled.
"It is finished and created..." he said as he looked at the scenery for a moment and then got up from his seat to meet with Leorio.
