"That's enough, ZōYū," Daisen's voice called from afar.

The day when the sun had reached its highest point was now descending, and night began to appear. This indicated that ZōYū and Daigo hadn't been at it for just 1 minute as intended.

Instead, it had been from midday until now the afternoon and if Daisen hadn't arrived to stop ZōYū, they would have continued until the end of the world.

Or perhaps less, because Daigo couldn't keep up with ZōYū anymore. He was using the Third Breath of the Seven Heavens his breathing, which was supposed to be controlled, was the last thing Daigo expected.

The sweat on his skin and clothes was a clear sign he was at his limit.

"Grandpa, but I'm not tired yet! And it's so much fun playing with little Daigo!" ZōYū said, running toward his grandfather.

"You're not tired, but Daigo is at his limit. The only reason he hasn't fallen is his unbreakable willpower and your control of the technique," Daisen said, approaching the collapsed Daigo.

"Daisen, thanks for coming to save this human from his death. I need water," Daigo said, raising his hand toward Daisen.

Who simply brought his trunk close to where Daigo was, grabbed him, lifted him off the ground, and carried him to his back.

There was an ancient wooden temple. He placed him right at the entrance, where there was a chair.

"Rest. There's water inside, so sit down and make yourself at home," Daisen said before continuing to walk.

Daigo with what little energy he had left walked inside the temple and saw what looked like a pool of crystal-clear water.

He didn't wait he approached and began drinking, not stopping until he felt his tired body and dry throat recover.

Though that wasn't the only thing he did. Taking off all his clothes, he jumped into the water for a good bath and then relaxed while floating.

"I see you're enjoying the sacred water," Daisen said as he walked.

"Sacred water? What's that?" Daigo shouted while floating in the water.

"You don't have to shout we have some of the best hearing in the world, so I hear everything you do," Daisen said.

"I understand you have big ears, so that must be an advantage. Daisen-san, did I pass the test? Do I have to do any more?" Daigo asked.

"You already passed the test. But I want you to tell me what you think the test really was."

"Hmm… maybe my endurance and unbreakable willpower?" Daigo replied.

"No that's good. It's clear you've taken care of yourself beyond just your chakra. But the real reason is to know how connected you are to the earth."

"You mean my affinity with Earth?"

"Yes though there's more than just affinity. Have you ever heard of seismic sense?" Daisen asked.

"I think so, but I don't remember what it is."

"It's a technique that allows seeing through vibrations in the ground. It's basically a form of tactile echolocation we elephants use to communicate, move, and almost everything during our lives," Daisen explained.

"I see that sounds very useful. It's like seeing with your eyes closed."

"That's right. ZōYū's technique uses seismic sense plus his chakra control to attack directly from beneath the earth making it undetectable to the naked eye."

"Oh, that's why I couldn't tell where it was coming from until it was about to hit me and I barely dodged it."

"Yes. If ZōYū had wanted to kill you, he would have done it without a problem. He even held back some for you to continue but back to seismic sense: you have it, even if you didn't realize."

"Huh? Really? I only dodged because I knew the attacks would eventually come toward me," Daigo said.

"Maybe that's what you think but unconsciously, your body detected the vibrations and dodged at the last moment. That water you're in is highly concentrated with earth minerals, which help people with Earth affinity become more connected to it and perceive seismic sense more clearly."

"In short, I just drank something so precious that Iwa ninjas would kill for it?" Daigo asked.

"That's right or any ninja with Earth as their main element. Though in the past, we were summonings of the Land of Earth due to a sin they committed, we decided to abandon those lands and join the Wind."

"So with all this… it means I'm worthy of the summoning contract?" Daigo asked.

"Yes though you still have much to understand to work with us and learn our techniques."

"I understand. I'll talk to the Kazekage so I can come here and learn as much as possible because the Third Ninja War is very close to starting, and I want to be ready to protect my village."

"Another one… Well, as your summonings, if you need help, we'll be there. For today, I think that's enough so you can return to Sunagakure when you finish your bath."

So Daigo continued his bath while talking to Daisen about everything until he was ready, and Daisen sent him back to Suna.

Back in Suna

Daigo appeared in a puff of smoke in Pakura's backyard his clothes dirty, though he was completely recovered from the extreme exhaustion ZōYū had put him through.

Looking around, he didn't see Pakura so he walked inside and found Pakura asleep on the sofa.

Not wanting to wake her, he approached carefully, picked her up in a princess carry, took her to her room, gently placed her on the bed, and covered her with the sheets intending to leave. But a soft voice stopped him.

"Thanks… when did you get back?" Pakura asked from her bed yawning.

"I just got back. I saw you on the sofa and decided to take you to bed. Rest tomorrow I'll come and tell you what happened," Daigo said before leaving.

Leaving Pakura alone who simply went back to sleep.

The next morning

The sun had barely risen over the dunes when Daigo was already up. He dressed in a new outfit, adjusted his protectors, and headed to the Kazekage's tower. He had to speak with the Kazekage first before continuing with what he planned to do that day. Upon arriving at the main office, the Third Kazekage received him as always.

"Yesterday Pakura informed me that you signed a summoning contract and disappeared," the Kazekage said, interlacing his fingers over the desk.

"Yes I signed it, and they teleported me to their lands to talk to me. In the end, they accepted me," Daigo explained, sitting in the chair.

"I imagine you didn't come here just to tell me they accepted you. Get to the point."

"Daisen-san, the leader of the elephants, wants me to go train with them for a while to teach me more about controlling the Earth element along with various techniques."

The Kazekage fell silent, analyzing his student's words. Though he had just returned from one training, now he was leaving again to keep training was he a robot or did he not want to do ninja missions?

Though he couldn't deny the point of view: Suna needed power, and if Daigo managed to learn from the elephants and use them in the war, it would give them an advantage against the other villages.

"Iwagakure is upset after losing Gari from the Explosion Corps. And they've demanded your life in exchange for keeping the peace," the Kazekage said, looking at Daigo.

"You're not thinking of sending me to die for a peace that won't last forever, right?" Daigo asked.

"If it were forever, maybe I would have considered it but that's not my way of doing things. As Kazekage, they want to weaken us and offer us false peace. But since we know how strong you're becoming along with the others we're not afraid of Iwa, and we can beat them."

"What's the plan you're going to take, Sensei?" Daigo asked, interested.

"We're going to war against Iwa. Though their lands aren't as perfect as the Land of Fire's, they're enough to plant crops and remove one of the village's money expenses," the Kazekage said seriously, looking at Daigo.

"I think that's good. I recommend Pakura for the main front against Iwa, along with Sasori and Arata they're people I see becoming the pillars of Suna for the future," Daigo said.

"Alright, I'll take your advice. It's a shame I can't send you, but if I need you to enter the war, leave me a way to contact you," the Kazekage said.

"Don't worry, Sensei I'll tell the elephants if they have some way to contact us. Thank you for allowing me to go train even more," Daigo said.

"The elephants will help us a lot so even though it's a problem not having you on the field, when you return, you'll be more dangerous than before," the Kazekage said.

"I won't waste time, Sensei. I'll come back stronger and that seat of yours will be mine," Daigo replied with a bow before leaving.

His next stop was Pakura's house. He found her in the backyard the same place where he had disappeared yesterday. She was sitting on a bench, observing the summoning scroll Daigo had left on the ground the day before.

Upon seeing him arrive, she stood up from her seat.

"I thought you'd come later," Pakura said, crossing her arms.

"That was the plan, but I left the Kazekage's tower earlier," Daigo replied.

"From what I see, everything went well they accepted you, right?"

"Yes I had a test yesterday where I felt like I died several times, but I managed to pass it. Now Daisen who's the leader of the elephants wants me to go train with them for a while to learn new techniques they want to teach me," Daigo replied.

"So you're leaving again," Pakura asked with more emotion than normal.

"Yes though this time I don't think it'll be just a month. Maybe a year or more depending on if the Kazekage calls me back early,"

Daigo replied, approaching her and handing her something.

"What's this?" Pakura said, looking at what Daigo gave her.

"It's a necklace. I was able to create this last night before going to sleep my control has improved a lot."

The necklace was simple cord to wear around the neck. The only striking part was the pink flower-shaped crystal, characteristic of Daigo's Crystal Release.

"It's my way of thanking you for everything you've done for me with the Shakuton information and now this summoning contract. If you need anything, just ask, I be there for you" Daigo said.

"Thank you. You're leaving now, right?"

"Yes I forgot to tell you: the war against Iwa is going to start, and the Kazekage will call you to the main front. Show why Suna isn't the weakest village. Until I return, take care."

Daigo gave Pakura one last look. He positioned himself in the center of the backyard, performed a quick series of seals, and bit his thumb to activate the chakra flow needed for the reverse summoning.

"Kuchiyose no Jutsu!"

A burst of white smoke filled the backyard. When the air cleared, Daigo was gone. He had disappeared.

Daigo reappeared in front of Daisen's great wooden temple. His lungs breathed the fresh air with enthusiasm it was so pure. As he thought, ZōYū appeared with a leap from the top of one of the mountains, landing with a boom that kicked up a cloud of dust.

"You're back, little Daigo!" ZōYū laughed with a booming, youthful laugh. "I thought after yesterday's beating you'd be too scared to show your face around here!"

"Daisen-san invited me to train, and I'm someone who loves training of course I'd come," Daigo replied, taking off his Suna vest and remaining in a shirt.

Daisen who hadn't said a word took advantage of the silence to speak.

"Welcome back. From what I see, they let you come that's good. As our first training toward our summoner: take off those ninja sandals," Daisen said.

"Huh? Why? The ninja sandals are new and comfortable," Daigo asked, not wanting to take them off.

"Do you remember the seismic sense I told you about yesterday? The best way to feel it is to touch the ground with the soles of your feet not with sandals."

With the reasons given, Daigo could only do as requested taking them off. Then Daisen lowered him from his back with his trunk.

"What do I do now, Daisen?" Daigo asked.

"For the first training, I need you to block all your senses block your vision, hearing, and smell. I want you to focus only on feeling the earth with the soles of your feet."

Daigo nodding took off his shirt and used it to cover his eyes though he had nothing to cover his ears or nose.

"Here these are pieces of wood. Though they're a bit big, you can make them smaller to cover the holes in your nose and ears,"

ZōYū said, bringing him two wooden logs.

"ZōYū, do you think my ears and nose are like yours?"
