Chapter 1 - THE PAINTBRUSH

Hilbert had known Hilda for some time, and was captivated by her hairstyle and shorts. He admired her active, outgoing personality, which always made him want to spend more time with her. Yet, because of how the trainers' world works, they rarely saw each other more than once a week, usually when their paths crossed along a route.

One day, while in Nacrene City—the city with the Normal-type Gym—he spotted her on the street. Before he could approach, he noticed her speaking with a man who looked at least ten years older. The man was one of the city's artists: short, overweight, unattractive, and carrying a stench of not bathing that could be sensed from afar. He was accompanied by two Smeargles, their tail tips like poorly washed paintbrushes, dripping with paint.

Worried that she might end up going out with that man, Hilbert decided to invite Hilda on a date. He followed her discreetly, and when he saw her heading toward a café, he pretended to bump into her by chance. Hilda accepted his offer without hesitation, though when ordering she asked for a beer instead of coffee. They spent some time catching up, talking about what had happened since they last met a week earlier.

The café, called The Paintbrush, was not to Hilbert's liking. It was a grimy dive, crowded with the city's artists who seemed to be nothing but a bad influence. The one running the place was not human but a Pokémon—a bitter Gothitelle who gave poor customer service. Hilda didn't seem to fit in there; she wore shorts even shorter than when he first met her, revealing the elastic of her underwear. She had on a top, but what surprised Hilbert most was that she no longer wore a cap.

Then, on the café's television, a Pokémon battle began to air between two not‑so‑famous trainers. At that late hour of the night, low‑tier matches were common. Hilda eagerly awaited the fight, since she knew one of the trainers. Meanwhile, Hilbert was preparing to ask her out on the date he wanted. This chat at the table didn't count as one, for he intended it to have a romantic purpose from the start.

He proposed to Hilda that they visit the city's museum, see the exhibitions, stroll around, and then go for ice cream. Upon hearing the suggestion, she hid her smile, for she had no interest in the boy. Though at that moment, she did desire something else…

Hilda made him a bet right there: if her friend won the battle being broadcast on TV, she would go out with him. Hilbert thought she was playing hard to get, since the guy on TV had lost five out of six Pokémon, while his opponent still had five left. He accepted so quickly that he didn't even ask what would happen if he lost.

Hilda's friend, incredibly and against all odds, ended up winning the battle. Hilbert's heart raced; he thought he had lost his chance with the girl of his dreams. She stood up from her seat, exclaiming, "Follow me!" and then walked over to the Gothitelle, with whom she spoke for a minute without him being able to hear. After that, the Pokémon pointed to a door, which Hilda crossed without any fear, while the boy followed her, nervous and suspicious.

They were in a kind of small backyard surrounded by low walls, dirty and with poorly sealed garbage bags that no one had taken out in days. There was also a door that led to the alley next door. Nervously, the boy asked why they had gone there, but instead of any answer, the girl pushed him down, forcing him to his knees before her. The boy understood what she wanted, even though he didn't entirely agree.

She unzipped her shorts; the sound was surprisingly loud compared to the surrounding silence. Without fully pulling down her pants, she exposed her pussy. He saw it for only a couple of seconds before she grabbed the back of his neck and forcefully guided him. Hilbert was giving a girl her first ever oral sex. Ironically, he had always thought it would be the first thing he would do to Hilda, but in a more pleasant situation.

"Tsk, tsk," the boy heard and naturally looked at Hilda. "Here, look me in the eyes when you do this." The inexperienced boy tried his best, but his lack of skill was all too obvious. After a few seconds, she grabbed Hilbert's cap, exclaiming, "Take off that stupid cap! Are you still a teenager wearing that thing?" She grabbed the cap and threw it over the courtyard wall. That scolding from the girl he liked stung his pride a little, and he tried to break free to go after her. However, he heard another "tsk, tsk," with the girl now seemingly angry, telling him to stay put.

This had escalated to a point where Hilbert didn't want to continue, so he broke free, and after telling Hilda she was crazy, tried to leave, but the door was locked. She shook her head and told him she knew he was still too immature to back out of bets, so she asked the Pokémon to close up the door. She then released one of her Pokémon, a Throh. It was very red, a bit fatter than usual, but still intimidating. The boy wanted to respond by releasing one of his own, but to his surprise, he had left his Poké Balls on the table.

Without further ado, the Throh subdued Hilbert, pinning him to the floor. Hilda pulled up her pants and hugged her Pokémon, promising him a reward for behaving well. "And you," she said seriously, looking at Hilbert, "don't you ever call me again, loser." Then the Fighting-type Pokémon picked the boy up and threw him into the trash bags, which, because they weren't properly sealed, ended up spilling garbage all over Hilbert.

The girl called Gothitelle, who opened the door for her, and so she left, escorted by her throh, but not before saying, "To think that, if I had lost the bet, I would have kept my word." The Psychic-type Pokémon glared angrily at Hilbert, who was standing over the trash scattered on the floor. The boy went to the table to look for his Pokémon so they could help him clean up, but unfortunately, they weren't there, nor were his other belongings. He asked the Pokémon if Hilda had taken them, but she denied it, he thought it might have been one of the others who were in the café. Instead of helping him look for his things, the Pokémon brought a broom and insisted that the boy stay and clean, since there were only five minutes left before closing time.
