Tuesday, the first ray of sunshine shone into Li Heng's room as he slowly got up from his bed.
Li Heng: "My head…" He said as he rubbed his forehead while he checked his phone. That is until he saw the group chat when his head started to hurt again
Li Heng: "What the hell?" Li Heng looked at the now complete working time slot. His name which was a different time slot before had now been moved back to the original time slot without his consent.
'Hey, Chen Xian. I thought I had switched to a new time slot. What happened?" He texted
'Yes but several of the 10am to 12pm members were suddenly unavailable for today so the chairman had to move you in for replacement' Chen Xian texted back after several minutes
Li Heng: "You have to be kidding me"
'Are you okay lately? We've been worried about your mental health since the library. You know we can apply for mental leave for a month right?' Chen Xian texted again
'Do I have any points deduction for that?' Li Heng texted
'Use it once, never did. So, are you okay with the time slot or you wanna change?' Chen Xian texted
After several minutes of hesitation, Li Heng eventually agreed and began making his way to the event
Along the way, the streets were as busy and crowded as usual with vehicles swarming the streets, news broadcast, ads filled the billboards. As he passed a restaurant, one elderly was gossiping about the latest news
Elderly 1: "I told you that the Zhong family can't be trusted! Look at this!-"
He shouted while holding out a newspaper titled [Zhong family whistle blower found committed suicide] to his friend
Elderly 2: "You're delusional! C'mon, let's continue eating!"
As Li Heng continued walking to his college, he noticed an increasing amount of crowds as he got closer, mostly elderly as he noticed and several groups of orphanages being led by several respective caretakers into the college.
He looked around and saw a crowd gathering at a stage with a large red banner written 'Chongqing University Charity Event' with a Ma Family sponsorship banner beside it. On the stage was the principal of the university who Li Heng recognized and an unfamiliar man beside him holding a cheque and a gift basket.
Principal: "As the principal I'm honored to be the opener of this charity event and I would like to thanks the teachers and volunteers for preparing this event. Last but no least, the Ma Family for sponsoring this event. Thank you!"
As he finished speaking, the crowd cheered into a delightful roar and the unfamiliar man began stepping in front of the principal
Announcer: "Now for the gift ceremony section. We have Ma Ning Qian as the representative of Ma Zhao Ning for this section. Please Mr Ma"
Ma Ning Qian then handed the cheque and the fruit basket to the principal and the reporters swarmed in front of them, wanting to take a photo of the scene
Principal: "I announce the Charity event begins now!"
As he announced, the crowds began entering the college as they walked around the college and onto the stalls in Block B. Li Heng also walked into the college until he saw that Ma Ning Qian was looking at him for a bit too long before he averted his gaze
(I regret this already) He thought to himself as he walked to his stall. Not knowing what would happen next
