Chapter 32 - Chapter 32: Hidden Corners and Laughter

The resort was quiet in the late morning, the kind of stillness that made every rustle of leaves and distant bird call feel amplified. Yumi wandered along the garden paths, her fingers brushing the petals of blooming flowers, heart light from the playful mornings with Pherrie.

"You're awfully quiet, Princess," came a familiar voice, teasing and smooth.

Yumi turned to see Pherrie leaning casually against the railing, that mischievous sparkle in his eyes. "I'm not quiet!" she protested, cheeks heating.

"Mm-hmm," he said, stepping closer so that his shoulder brushed hers. "Sure you aren't. You just look like you're plotting something… or thinking about me."

Yumi groaned, trying not to smile. "You're impossible!"

"And yet," he teased, "you keep walking beside me. That must mean something."

She twitched slightly where his fingers brushed hers. "Maybe it doesn't," she muttered.

Pherrie smirked. "We'll see."

They wandered deeper into the resort grounds, eventually discovering a small hidden corner by an old fountain, surrounded by climbing ivy and bright flowers. The place felt magical, like it was made just for them.

"Found a secret spot," Pherrie said, crouching to examine the tiny blooms growing along the edges. "Perfect for a little competition, don't you think?"

Yumi laughed, catching on immediately. "You're going to lose, Pherrie!"

They spent the next hour running around the corner, picking the prettiest flowers, teasing each other over who could find the most unusual bloom, and laughing whenever one of them stumbled or got distracted by a butterfly.

Even when Kai and Damian appeared, curious about the commotion, Pherrie stayed subtly close to Yumi, making sure she felt included and safe. The playful energy between them was light, teasing, and fun—no pressure, just laughter and gentle challenges.

By the time they finally left the hidden corner, their arms were full of flowers, their cheeks flushed from laughing, and their hearts light from the day's adventures.

Yumi looked at Pherrie, smiling softly. "I like days like this."

"Me too, Princess," he replied, brushing a stray hair from her face. "They're better when we're together."

With that, they headed back toward the resort, laughter echoing behind them, ready to find the next adventure in their endless summer of teasing, friendship, and safe, gentle closeness.
