Chapter 53 - Heretic Gods

While everyone was busy, the storm came and went quickly and the sky returned to clear blue.

Everyone, annoyed, threw the things they were holding aside and went back to the small villa to lie down.

"Abel, what are you looking at?"

"Nothing, I have to leave for a bit."

With that, Abel teleported away from the small island.

...

Sardinia.

Within the boundless sky.

Wild winds and heavy rain came from all directions, and lightning flashed and thunder rumbled in the clouds.

But even in such conditions, two "people" were confronting each other.

One of them stood on the ground. He was massive, and his muscles were very defined. He held a "wooden stick" in each hand.

Confronting him was a young man, about fifteen or sixteen, standing in mid-air. Similarly, the young man possessed an aura and majesty that someone his age should not have.

"Long time no see, Melqart."

"I've waited long enough! Verethragna."

Melqart, the God of Storms.

And Verethragna, the God of War from ancient Persia.

These two were Heretic Gods and they were also old friends who had fought before.

As the two gods confronted each other, a blonde girl was standing on the roof of a car.

She was Erica Blandelli.

Affiliated with the Italian magical society "Copper Black Cross," she held the rank of Great Knight.

Inside the car, a maid was driving, and a young boy holding a stone tablet was seated.

Erica looked worried at this moment, because once a divine battle began, this small island would cease to exist.

No, she couldn't wait any longer.

"They absolutely cannot fight on this island."

With that, she jumped from the car roof and ran towards the two Heretic gods.

Cuore di Leone!

The long sword in her hand transformed into a shield.

The scene returned to the battle of the gods.

"The old wounds you sustained when you were my enemy haven't healed, have they?"

"Hmph. To awaken me at all costs just to fight me, how could I ignore such arrogance?"

"How exciting."

Verethragna sneered, then raised his right hand, and suddenly a great wind arose.

A giant goat and a phoenix appeared, then merged into the young man's body. He was only missing one of his ten authorities.

"Then let's fight, Verethragna!"

"That's what I intended! Melqart!"

Their first round began.

Melqart raised his divine artifact, the Exile, which represented lightning, while Verethragna drew his warrior's incarnation, the Golden Blade.

"Please wait!"

At this moment, a magic circle with red roses interrupted their spellcasting.

Erica arrived, holding a shield.

The two Heretic Gods looked displeased at the blonde girl who had appeared before them.

"I have a presumptuous request, could you..."

Erica was interrupted by the two before she could finish.

"Human, this place has become a battlefield for gods, leave quickly!"

"Witch, your courage to defy a god is commendable!"

Verethragna and Melqart said in unison.

Erica still wanted to ask them for mercy, but before she could speak, lightning appeared.

Suddenly, lightning encircled Verethragna and Melqart.

The two spoke again simultaneously.

"This is a divine battle, mortals shall not trespass!"

"Your courage is admirable, but you should consider the current situation!"

As the two Heretic Gods finished speaking, the lightning that had been circling them began to strike Erica in continuous bolts, forcing her to constantly jump and dodge.

The ground was also riddled with large craters from the lightning strikes.

Erica leaped into the air, and then a bolt of lightning struck. She quickly used her shield to block, but in the next second, the shield was struck by lightning and flew out of her hand.

Before Erica could react, another bolt of lightning struck.

It's over.

As Erica looked at the lightningbolt almost upon her, this thought flashed through her mind.

Boom!

"Ahhhhh!!!"

A scream sounded, and after a while, there was no more sound.

Verethragna looked at the person in the lightning with some disappointment. He didn't expect the fellow he chose to die like this.

However...

Verethragna and Melqart looked up at the sky simultaneously.

Compared to the deceased Godou Kusanagi, the fellow in the sky caught their interest.

In the sky, amidst the intertwining wind, rain, and thunder, a white-haired, red-eyed man wearing beach clothes and flip-flops stood in the air, holding Erica in a princess carry.

"Hello, both of you."

Abel greeted Verethragna and Melqart.

"An obstructer."

"An interesting fellow."

Erica, who felt no pain and instead warmth, opened her eyes. What greeted her was a white-haired, red-eyed young man.

"Are you alright?"

"Uh... could you please put me down?"

"No problem."

With that, Abel flew down from the sky and put Erica down.

"Tha... thank you."

"It's nothing."

"Mm."

Abel looked at Erica's original position, and Erica followed his gaze.

She was stunned.

Where she had been, having undergone the lightning's baptism, lay a charred corpse, and on the pitted ground nearby, only a stone tablet lay perfectly intact.

"Kusanagi!?"

Erica found it hard to believe but had to accept that the person she had spent the day with was dead.

Abel stroked his chin.

Godou, huh...

The guy who used his ultimate as a basic attack.

The male protagonist of Campione actually died so carelessly under the lightning of a Heretic Gods, truly unlucky.

However...

Abel crooked his finger, and the stone tablet came to his side.

It was the stone tablet that sealed Verethragna's White Stallion and Prometheus's ability to steal.

In that case...

Telos Karma!

Abel used the ability of Telos Karma to transfer Verethragna's White Stallion and Prometheus's stealing ability to himself.

The stone tablet dispersed with the wind.

"Hahahaha! An interesting fellow, to actually transfer my White Stallion and Prometheus's power of Theft to himself."

"Hahaha! Interesting!"

Verethragna, witnessing Abel destroy the stone tablet, laughed, having never encountered such an interesting thing before.

After Abel gained the abilities from the stone tablet, he said to Erica beside him, "Miss, please run far away."

"Eh?"

Erica didn't understand, but his next sentence made her tremble with fear.

"Because I am about to slay a god."
