"Mu Chen?"
The receptionist was momentarily paralyzed by the request. To find the President of the Association directly was a bold move for a child. However, after a quick, hurried phone call, she received an affirmative answer that left her even more bewildered.
"Little brother, please follow me..."
She led him to the private elevator and pressed the button for the 19th floor—the absolute peak of the tower. When the doors slid open, Xie Xie stepped into an expansive, high-tech office where a burly, imposing man stood waiting.
This was the President of the Donghai City Blacksmith Association, a Peak Rank 8 Saint Craftsman: Mu Chen. Standing beside him was a girl around twelve years old with a sharp, curious gaze—his daughter, Mu Xi.
"President," the receptionist bowed respectfully before retreating.
"Junior Xie Xie greets President Mu Chen," Xie Xie said, offering a polite but confident smile.
"You look so young," Mu Xi blurted out, her eyes scanning him up and down. "You can't even be nine yet, right?" She had started her training early, but this boy looked like he had barely graduated from kindergarten.
"I just finished my Spirit Awakening a week ago," Xie Xie replied casually.
"..."
"Oh." Mu Xi nodded, stunned. He's a literal beginner?
"You possess Innate Full Soul Power?" Mu Chen interjected. His sharp senses caught the dense, swirling energy within the boy's body. His expression shifted from professional curiosity to genuine intrigue.
"Correct."
"Innate Full Soul Power!" Mu Xi gasped. With that kind of cultivation talent, most children would be focused entirely on Spirit Master training. Why would he waste time in a hot, soot-covered forge? In the hierarchy of secondary professions, blacksmithing was notoriously the most grueling.
"Xiao Xie, is it?" Mu Chen looked at him with newfound depth. "Mang Tian told me you'd give me a 'big surprise,' but I didn't expect your cultivation talent to be so monstrous. Now, let me see if your talent for the hammer matches your talent for the soul."
He led them to his private workshop. Unlike Mang Tian's rustic studio, this place was a sanctuary of high-grade soul technology and rare, gleaming ores.
"Pick your metal," Mu Chen gestured broadly. "Show me what you can do."
"I'll choose Dull Silver," Xie Xie said. He walked over to a piece of Deep Sea Dull Silver and placed it on the central anvil.
Then, he reached into his spatial tool and withdrew a pair of hammers. They weren't the standard iron tools of the association. They were shimmering, high-density Thousand-Forged Dull Silver Hammers.
Mu Chen's eyes narrowed. Mu Xi's jaw dropped.
"Thousand-Forged Dull Silver Hammers? He's going to use those?"
A child's "innate divine force" was usually measured by whether they could lift a fifty-pound hammer. But a pair of Thousand-Forged Dull Silver hammers weighed at least 150 pounds each. To swing them with precision required the strength of a seasoned warrior.
Bang!
The first strike rang out like a clap of thunder, pulling the father and daughter back to reality.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Xie Xie's rhythm was a blur of silver light. Before Mu Chen could even comment on his form, the metal beneath the hammers underwent a visible transformation.
"Hundred Refinements... complete," Mu Chen murmured, his fists clenching at his sides.
Mu Xi stood frozen. She had started at age six and only reached the Rank 1 Blacksmith level at age eleven. It had taken her five years of sweat and tears. For Xie Xie... it had taken less than sixty seconds.
"Dad... this little brother couldn't possibly be... a Rank 3 Blacksmith, right?" Mu Xi whispered. She knew the answer. She couldn't even lift those hammers, let alone swing them with such terrifying frequency. For the first time in her life, the "Genius of the Mu Family" felt a crushing sense of inferiority.
As they watched, the metal began to glow with a rhythmic, pulsing light.
Whoosh—!
The dull silver sublimated, a pillar of light erupting from the anvil. First-Grade Thousand Forging.
"President, it's finished," Xie Xie said, setting the heavy hammers down without so much as a labored breath.
"You are a natural-born Blacksmith," Mu Chen walked forward, his broad palm landing on Xie Xie's shoulder with a mix of awe and reverence. "In ten thousand years... no, in the entire history of this craft, I doubt anyone will ever surpass your starting point."
He looked at the boy, his heart pounding. "I'm giving you my private number. You are welcome here at any time. And once you become a Saint Craftsman—which I suspect will be sooner rather than later—I will personally introduce you to my Senior Brother, the Continent's only Divine Craftsman, Zhen Hua."
Mu Chen had planned to take him as a disciple, but looking at that piece of first-grade silver, he realized he wasn't qualified. This boy was a monster that even the heavens would envy.
"Thank you, President," Xie Xie replied, bowing politely.
After Xie Xie left, the workshop remained silent for a long time.
"Xiao Xi... are you discouraged?" Mu Chen asked his daughter with a bitter, sympathetic smile.
Mu Xi didn't speak. She just pouted, her eyes fixed on the spot where the six-year-old had just performed a miracle. It had taken her five years to reach Rank 1; he had bypassed her entire life's work in a single afternoon.
"Don't compare yourself to him," Mu Chen sighed. "He isn't a 'genius.' He is a blacksmithing deity in a child's body."
Meanwhile, as Xie Xie walked back toward his villa, two figures had already arrived at his front door.
Ding-dong—!
Xie Tianhai went to open the door, expecting a delivery or perhaps a neighbor. Instead, he found himself staring at a tall, bald man with a beaming, respectful smile—Guo Gang, the Donghai Spirit Pagoda Master.
And standing behind him was a breathtaking woman with hair as red as a dying star and eyes that held the wisdom of ages.
The woman from the Shrek City headquarters had arrived.
