Kaiser exhaled slowly. His shoulders relaxed. He was no longer alone.
Jasper scanned him from head to toe. His white hair glowed faintly in the dimness. He unslung his bow from his back and pulled the string with two fingers to test the tension.
"You look like shit, Kaiser. Looks like you got the hell beaten out of you."
"Those two are really tough," Kaiser replied. He wiped the blood from his cheek with the back of his hand and jerked his chin toward the Draken twins.
"We don't give a fuck about his condition," Nox cut in as he flashed a small smile and turned his head toward Laura and Irion. His eyes gleamed with sick delight.
Without warning, he sprang forward. Tongue out, wide manic grin, he charged straight at Laura. His steps were chaotic, but his speed was terrifying.
"Fuck, this lunatic could've waited two seconds," Julian growled, shaking his head.
He drew his blade. A thin layer of frost immediately coated the metal. He leapt into the fray as well.
