Chapter 17 - The Future's Last Sighting

After days of travel, they finally reach the territory of Verne. As they entered the region, they experienced various other surprises. The beauty of nature, the bustling of towns and cities, then the sparsely populated villages at the borders. As they traveled, they saw all kinds of things for Elora, whose world was confined to the cage for so long. This new life had truly brought about the opportunities to witness all kinds of miracles in this expanded world.

For Raymond, his future was to despise this very vast and beautiful world. The course had changed, and maybe those countless moments where he was in a paradoxical situation, hating the world but loving that one existence borne by this very world person who was his entire world in the time to come, had taken the initiative to walk right into his life.

Of course, he was still blissfully unaware of this at that moment. As they arrived to, the large iron gates of the Manor opened to welcome their new masters. Once in the wide corridors of the Grand Castle, they were greeted by stoic servants lined in rows, their heads bowed with courtesy. There were also a few young and curious spirits who were trying to sneak a few glances or gorge the situation. In front of them stood the head maid and the administrator. They greeted the masters in full courtesy. They were then guided to the parlor. On the way hung huge paintings of different kinds. One particularly caught her interest. It was a cluster of portraits with multiple canvases. All those portraits seem to paint a single flower, a Maybell filled with vibrant colors, the hues of blue, white and purple in a distinct harmony. Its prominent hues of blue emitted a soothing calmness and attraction. The way it was painted also showed the mystery and nature of the flower to the fullest.

Once seated, they were hurriedly briefed with the procedures and were whisked away to work. Soon, set the night. With the owl's awakening. Raymond stared at the empty space beside him and realized just how much one person had affected him. The bed that seemed perfectly fine before now felt so large, and the forgotten emptiness came creeping back in. He had gotten used to her warmth. Now that nothing, a sort of emptiness bothered him. Or maybe it was always like that, and all he knew was a fantasy
