Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Tempestuous Storm! Davy Jones Reborn

On a dark and gloomy night, a fierce storm raged across the sea.

Suddenly, the tumultuous waves parted, and a pitch-black, dilapidated ship, as if on a sprint, surged from the seabed to the surface, its flying water droplets shimmering under the Moonlight.

Bang—the Black Ship crashed onto the waves, bobbing precariously.

The ship drifted with the current, and each time it was about to capsize, it righted itself in time, as if alive, continuing its voyage.

And the Captain of this ship—Davy Jones—was an eccentric man.

He wore a barnacle-encrusted tricorn hat, his octopus head covered in slimy tentacles. He stood on the wet bow, his gray-blue eyes narrowed, silently observing the vast sea.

Where was this place?

Davy Jones had once been the Captain of the Flying Dutchman, accustomed to the work of ferrying the dead. Therefore, he was certain this was not the world after death.

The world of the dead had endless night and sea, ending in a vast, white void. The entire world was filled with sorrow and despair, and it could never be as vibrant, with lightning and thunder, as it was now.

This was still the world where the living existed, but it was also different from before.

So, had he fallen into the deep abyss of the ocean but unexpectedly arrived in this strange unfamiliar part of the ocean?

He began to recall his memories.

Davy Jones's last memory was seeing the hateful Jack Sparrow, helping Will Turner, stab his heart with a dagger, causing him to lose his immortality and subsequently be buried at sea.

According to the Curse, the person who killed the previous Captain of the Flying Dutchman automatically inherited the Captaincy.

Therefore, Will Turner will became the new Captain of the Flying Dutchman, taking his place in the mission of ferrying the dead, only able to go ashore once every ten years.

And Calypso, the Ocean Goddess he loved, had not offered him any help in this life-and-death struggle.

When he fell into the dark abyss, submerged in the icy cold seawater, he finally heard the familiar voice of the Ocean Goddess.

"Davy Jones…"

He wanted to respond, but found his throat was as if choked by something, unable to make a sound, only able to silently listen to what the Ocean Goddess had to say to him.

"I once loved you, and now, I still love you. But my nature dictates that we can never have a future. For you, the best outcome is to leave me forever."

"I will send you to another world, where you will start a new life. However, even with your power as the Ruler of the Deep, it may be difficult for you to protect yourself in that world."

"For this, I will grant you an ability, and a portion of my power. Davy Jones, do not hate me. This is the last thing I can give you."

After that, the voice of the Ocean Goddess gradually faded, leaving only his solitary murmur, and his consciousness also became lost in the darkness.

In an instant, the silence vanished, and the sound of crashing waves surged. He had arrived in the "another world" the Ocean Goddess had spoken of.

For some reason, Davy Jones felt a sense of relief about this outcome.

First, he fell in love with a woman he shouldn't have—Calypso, the Ocean Goddess. Her uninhibited nature destined that there would be no future for them, yet he remained infatuated and was ultimately heartbroken.

Subsequently, his heart was held as leverage by Lord Cutler Beckett, and he was threatened by this lord multiple times, leading him to be passive everywhere and do many things he was extremely unwilling to do.

This included killing his most beloved helper—the Kraken.

These were the painful points in his heart. Since he was starting anew in another world, Davy Jones swore never to make the same mistakes again.

He would no longer fall in love with any woman, nor would he be exploited for love. At the same time, he wanted to gain greater power to prevent being controlled by others again, losing his freedom, and becoming their servant!

Freedom, what a precious treasure!

However, before gaining greater power, Davy Jones needed to first retrieve all the power he once held as the "Ruler of the Deep." He was certain that he currently possessed only a fraction of his former power.

The ability promised by the Ocean Goddess was present, but the power was nowhere to be found.

Currently, Davy Jones's beating heart had returned to his chest, and his torso and legs had reverted to human form. Only his head remained an octopus monster head, his left hand a crab claw, and his right hand a tentacle.

He still possessed abilities such as driving tentacles, teleportation, and immortal regeneration, but they were all weakened abilities, and most of his power had been lost.

So, where did the lost majority of the Ruler of the Deep's power and the Ocean Goddess's power go?

Davy Jones had a certain intuition that the lost Ruler of the Deep and Ocean Goddess power lay dormant deep within the seabed of this ocean, waiting for him to retrieve them.

At that time, he would become the "Ruler of the Deep" of this other world. With the catalysis of the Ocean Goddess's power, he could even go a step further!

Besides this, Davy Jones had not gained nothing new.

The ship beneath his feet was a gift from the Ocean Goddess. He named it the "Spectral Doom." Although it was not the Flying Dutchman, it had the characteristic of being able to evolve!

Most importantly, it was completely controlled by Davy Jones's will!

Every door on the ship, the unfurling and furling of the sails, the dropping and raising of the anchor, all were at his command, not to mention the direction and trajectory of the voyage.

In addition, Davy Jones also gained a marvelous ability granted by the Ocean Goddess. He seemed to be able to harvest nearby "fear emotions" and then use these "fear emotions" to evolve himself and the Spectral Doom!

Each time "fear emotions" were harvested, an evaluation would be given. The higher the evaluation, the better the quality of the "fear emotions."

This fear emotion evaluation, from high to low, was "Spine-chilling", "Hair-raising," "Heart-stopping," "Panicked," "Flustered," and "False Alarm."

The following is the publicly available information on Davy Jones:

["Ruler of the Deep" Davy Jones]

[Tentacle (Right Hand): Can freely extend and retract a certain length]

[Crab Claw (Left Hand): Hard as iron]

[Teleportation: Short-distance flash]

[Immortal Regeneration: All wounds on the body except the heart can slowly heal]

[Spectral Doom: Mental control of the hull, devouring hull fragments, accompanying storms]

[Fear Harvest: Harvest fear in a small area, allocate to strengthen self or hull]

The primary task, of course, was to retrieve the powers of the Ruler of the Deep and the Ocean Goddess. This required Davy Jones to search for them. The closer he got to them, the more Davy Jones could sense their existence.

Before that, the first challenge he encountered was the dilapidated Black Ship beneath his feet.

Davy Jones briefly inspected it and confirmed that the Spectral Doom could not sail very far. Its ultimate fate would be to sink at sea. To repair it, he would have to harvest fear emotions and hull fragments.

Now, he must first feed its hungry belly.

Without any hesitation, his eagle-sharp eyes seemed to pierce through the night and the storm, looking into the distance.

Driven by Davy Jones's will, the Spectral Doom slowly sailed towards the western sea.

Soon, he and his Black Ship spotted their first target.

A/N:

The protagonist of the novel is "Ruler of the Deep" Davy Jones from the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. I do not plan for him to regain his human appearance, so this novel will have no female lead.
