Chapter 69 - 069: Guiding Trunks

Then why didn't my elder brother Gohan manage to survive?

Trunks was dumbfounded, unable to believe that the Mr. Gohan standing before him had such a heaven-defying beginning.

He had checked carefully back then; his elder brother Gohan had absolutely no life force left. He was definitely dead.

But... this Mr. Gohan in front of him was alive!

Son Gohan waved his hand, and a ki barrier enveloped them both, isolating sound and suppressing their energy signatures.

Son Gohan continued, "There's nothing strange about it. Time is constantly changing; every second has the potential to create a different life."

"Just like in this world, who could have imagined that a father as powerful as ours would suddenly die from a heart disease?"

"Many things happen suddenly. It could be a single heartbeat, an ant's bite, or even a slight difference in the soil temperature. In short, I suddenly woke up..."

"The divergence between our two worlds likely began right there..."

"Later, Trunks and I found a spaceship at the old site of Capsule Corp, and your mother successfully repaired it."

"The spaceship was equipped with a gravity system, which allowed us to achieve twice the results in training with half the effort..."

"After that, I vaguely recalled Dad mentioning when he was very young that there was a marvelous place called the Hyperbolic Time Chamber on the Lookout. So, Trunks and I went searching for it. We were lucky—the Lookout hadn't been destroyed by the Androids yet, and we managed to find the Hyperbolic Time Chamber..."

Trunks couldn't help but ask, "The Hyperbolic Time Chamber? What is that?"

"It's a place perfectly suited for training. The gravity environment inside is several times that of Earth, and one year of training inside only equates to one day passing outside. Unfortunately, though, each person can only enter for two days in their entire lifetime."

"But that was enough. Trunks and I trained in there for a year and a half. After we emerged, the Androids were no longer a match for us, and Trunks and I successfully killed them..."

Listening to Son Gohan's account, Trunks was deeply shaken.

Although Mr. Gohan recounted the events casually, Trunks knew better than anyone just how terrifying the Androids truly were.

Mr. Gohan must have barely won after a life-or-death struggle... "So, what happened after that?" Trunks pressed on.

He looked at Son Gohan's intact left arm, knowing there had to be more to the story.

"Afterward, through Mr. Popo—the guardian of the Lookout—I managed to contact King Kai, and from King Kai, I learned the location of New Namek..."

"I took the spaceship Aunt Bulma had repaired and went to New Namek."

"There, I successfully used the Dragon Balls to restore my severed arm. I also brought Dende, the new Kami, back to Earth. Dende recreated the magical Dragon Balls, bringing new peace to the planet..."

That was enough, Son Gohan decided to stop his explanation there.

After listening to Son Gohan's account, Trunks sighed, "I never imagined there would be such a massive difference between our two worlds."

"Everything Mr. Gohan mentioned—including the spaceship, the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, and New Namek—I knew nothing about..."

"If only I had known all this sooner... sigh."

Son Gohan looked at Trunks, recalling the hardships he had endured alone over the years, and said with a sigh, "You can try going there after you return, though I don't know if the Lookout is still standing."

"Yes." Trunks nodded heavily, then paused before continuing, "Mr. Gohan, may I ask you for something?"

"Go ahead," Son Gohan replied.

"Could you guide me in my training? I can sense that you are incredibly powerful now, perhaps even countless times stronger than the Mr. Goku I just encountered. I need to get stronger so I can defeat the Androids and bring peace back to Earth."

"I can. Though I thought you might ask me to help you kill the Androids," Son Gohan couldn't help but chuckle.

"That is something that happened in my timeline, after all, and I want to resolve it myself. I want to personally kill those two devils, avenge all my friends, and avenge my elder brother Gohan..." Trunks clenched his fist, his voice firm and resolute.

"Very good. That's admirable ambition," Son Gohan said, smiling as he patted Trunks on the shoulder.

He continued, "Trunks, you just heard how I got stronger, so I won't repeat it. What I want to talk about now are some insights regarding the Super Saiyan transformation..."

"Let me ask you, Trunks, do you think the Super Saiyan form can undergo further transformation?"

"Further transformation?" Trunks was slightly astonished.

He truly had never considered that.

Could Super Saiyan really transform further?

Unbelievable!

Son Gohan said, "Just by looking at your expression, I knew you hadn't thought about it. Let me tell you now: a Saiyan's power has no limits, and the same goes for the Super Saiyan transformation..."

"In my view, Super Saiyan isn't the end; it's just the beginning. There is still a very long road ahead, and you can continuously break through plateaus and become stronger."

"We must first break the mental barrier. Only with that mindset can we find new methods and directions for breakthroughs, allowing us to continue growing stronger."

"If you believe that Super Saiyan is all there is, then your achievements in this life will likely be limited only to the initial stage of the Super Saiyan transformation..."

"Remember, you must constantly break through yourself and surpass your own limits!"

Trunks nodded emphatically, feeling a mental spark, as if a new way of thinking had opened up, giving him a fresh direction.

This was the benefit of having someone guide one's training.

If he had to fumble around on his own, with the same level of talent, he would always be one step behind others.

"Mr. Gohan, thank you for the instruction," Trunks stood up and bowed deeply to Son Gohan.

The favor of receiving instruction was akin to being reborn; Trunks felt extremely grateful.

Although Son Gohan had only spoken a few simple words, the help they provided was immense.

"Mm, sit down, sit down." Son Gohan waved his hand, and Trunks sat back down.

"Trunks, pay close attention to what I'm about to say."

"Please speak," Trunks said, sitting up straight.

Son Gohan spoke with utmost seriousness:

"In fact, besides Androids 17 and 18, Dr. Gero's computer created another Android who is even more dangerous than them."

"That guy has probably already awakened in your time, so you must be vigilant and watch out for his sneak attacks."

"Something like that exists?" Trunks was greatly shocked, making his desire to increase his strength even more urgent.

Strength was the only confidence one could have when facing all difficulties.

"Also, if one day you acquire the Z Sword, remember, you must break it immediately. Did you get that?"

"Yes, I understand." Trunks nodded heavily, committing everything to memory.

He had always been a cautious person; he would not be careless.

After talking for a while longer, Trunks boarded his Time Machine and vanished with a whoosh into the sky, returning to his own timeline.

Staring in the direction where Trunks had vanished, Son Gohan remained silent for a moment.

He knew that the words he had spoken to Trunks would certainly change some of the history of that world.

But what did it matter?

Such a tragic history was better off gone.
