Chapter 2 - 2. Origins

Amara was the first to dream it up. A final-year computer science student at UNILAG, she'd been rejected from an internship because "the team preferred male developers, they're more committed."

She didn't cry. She wrote code instead, building small apps that nobody noticed, except Zainab, her coursemate and best friend.

Zainab, studying electrical engineering, had her own story. After topping her class in robotics, her lecturer once told her, "You should focus on teaching, not tech startups. It's not for women."

Then came Isioma, a law graduate turned social activist, who ran community workshops teaching girls digital rights and online safety. She believed policy and technology had to work hand-in-hand.

And finally, Tomi, a first-year mass communication student with a contagious energy and a gift for storytelling. She found the group during a Women in Tech conference, tweeting, "We're not waiting for seats at the table, we're building our own."

By chance, or destiny, the four met in the same panel session, and the spark ignited.
