Chapter 124 - Deadlock!

Is it…a nightmare?

Emrys felt his brows throbbing, as if something was rolling around in his head, and a sharp pain shot through his temples, making him gasp for air.

But he still forced himself to suppress it with willpower and said to Hilda, "Can you help me check that corpse? I want to confirm that he is completely dead."

In the Warhammer Universe, it's always best to be careful; there's nothing wrong with it, otherwise…who knows what rule-breaking things might happen.

"Okay." Hilda agreed, withdrawing the psychic energy from her blade, and with her long legs, she reached the chair in a few steps. After checking, she shook her head: "Don't worry, he's completely dead. It seems he was over-drained of psychic energy and had his life and soul sucked dry by the Warp."

But to prevent any unforeseen accidents, Hilda directly used psychic energy to pulverize Scott's corpse.

In the intensely burning fire, Scott's corpse gradually twisted due to the high temperature. Whether it was an illusion or not…his shriveled face revealed a strange smile in the flames.

"Putting on an act!"

Unexpectedly, Hilda's eyebrows shot up, and a hint of anger flashed in her eyes. She directly twisted Scott's head off with her bare hands, and her five fingers suddenly clenched!

Crack!

That eerily smiling head was…crushed by Hilda's bare hands.

Moreover, the shattered flesh and bone fragments were thoroughly incinerated into ashes by the burning psychic flames, flowing down through her fingers.

Good heavens, the Aeldari are that strong?!

Emrys, who was originally a bit tired, was so stunned by Hilda's move that his jaw dropped, and he stared at her in a daze.

"Hm?" Hilda suddenly frowned, a hint of surprise on her face, then she spread her hand, and in her palm was…a thumb-sized, jade-white, crystalline bone.

"What is this thing?" Emrys stared at the bone in her palm and asked, stunned.

"The bone of a psyker." Hilda impatiently flicked her hand, throwing the bone over: "I don't need this, but you might be able to use it, provided…you don't mind."

It's no wonder psykers are said to be treasures from head to toe; even after death, they can refine 'relics.' Many Ecclesiarchy and Mechanicus priests use the purified ashes of psykers as incense for censers to achieve certain special purposes.

The most basic use is to block the influence of the Warp. Higher-tier psyker bones can even be made into 'artifacts' to amplify psychic energy, making them best-selling products in the 40K black market, highly favored by Inquisitors and heretics.

However.

Watching the bone land on the table, Emrys' eyelids twitched wildly. He hesitated for a few seconds and didn't dare to touch it: "This thing…you should take it back, or just secretly throw it into an Ecclesiarchy temple. I wouldn't dare to take it."

What a joke, who would dare to take it!

This evil thing, who knows if he'd get entangled with Tzeentch after taking it?

Although he was already entangled, based on the principle of less trouble is better, psyker bones aren't that rare, so there's no need to ask for trouble!

"If you don't want it, then forget it."

Hilda didn't care, casually taking the bone back. Then she looked directly at Emrys: "Now, can you tell me what exactly happened?"

Emrys suddenly fell silent. He also didn't know whether to tell her what he had seen, as it was simply too bizarre.

But then, he thought that although Hilda was an unqualified 'farseer,' she had some 'family background.' Perhaps she could offer him some advice. So he recounted everything he had encountered, in full detail.

After listening, Hilda fell into contemplation. A moment later, she shook her head and said, "I was nearby the entire time, but I didn't detect his intrusion. Combined with your experience in the hallucination…I can't judge whether this was a hallucination or a prophecy."

"But one thing, I am very sure of."

Saying that, Hilda suddenly stepped forward, her cool palm pressing against his forehead. Leaning closer, she stared at Emrys and said seriously, "You need rest."

Damn, why'd she get so close all of a sudden? I thought she was going to confess…Emrys twitched his lips, deleting all the wild thoughts from his mind, and pushed Hilda's hand away: "No time to rest now, I have very important things to do."

Hilda straightened up, a hint of scrutiny in her gaze: "Your condition is very poor. The Great Rift in the Cordon Star will have a significant impact on psykers. You should know what happens when a psyker's mental state is not good, right?"

Emrys' eyelids drooped slightly, silent.

Psykers seem very powerful, capable of flying and escaping, omnipotent, but is that really the case?

The more powerful a psyker, the larger and more dazzling their projection in the Warp, attracting more demonic prying. The most direct effect is an unstable mental state, plagued by nightmares.

Once a psyker loses control, the consequences are unimaginable. Even an Epsilon-level psyker can cause significant damage. At best, a few streets, and at worst, it could even attract demonic possession!

What's more…due to the existence of the Great Rift, psykers on the Cordon Star are affected even more than ordinary people!

Precisely because of this, he was well aware of the consequences, but the current situation did not allow him to rest!

"I'll rest properly after this is over." Emrys could only comfort Hilda this way, but after hesitating for a moment, as if he had thought of something, he added: "For this period, you don't need to protect me anymore. Can you go protect Elsa instead?"

"Are you worried that what happened in your dream will come true?"

Hilda saw through his thoughts at a glance: "I can, but I must tell you, if that really is a prophecy…"

She didn't finish the rest of her sentence.

The so-called prophecy is essentially a glimpse of a corner of the future. From the moment you see it, it means that no matter whether you want to change the future or not, the outcome is already destined!

Even, in many cases, all your efforts and actions to change the future will, unknowingly, become an invisible force, pushing destiny towards the future in the prophecy!

"Whether it's true or not, I won't let it happen." Emrys sneered, his eyes flashing with coldness: "Don't tell anyone about this, including Elsa…I don't want her to worry."

"Okay, during this time, I will secretly protect Elsa." Hilda readily agreed, and she also really wanted to see if the person praised by her father truly had the ability to change the future.

"You be careful yourself." She glanced at Emrys, saying without any concealment: "You are far more dangerous than she is, and so weak."

""

Although he was used to being 'looked down upon,' Emrys still couldn't help but retort: "I'm much stronger than before, okay? I can instantly crush Dark Eldar now!"

Unexpectedly, Hilda gave him another white eye: "Alright, I hope next time you encounter Dark Eldar, you can still be so arrogant in front of them."

Just as they were speaking, Elsa pushed open the door. Seeing the messy study, she froze for half a second, then her eyes narrowed slightly: "Lord Emrys, has someone invaded again?"

Why say 'again'…Emrys rubbed his forehead, but was powerless to refute. His mansion was like a public restroom; anyone could come in and use it as they pleased.

"No, it's nothing." He sighed, feeling a bit weary, and waved his hand: "Did you come back for something, Elsa?"

"Yes, lord."

Elsa handed over an invitation: "This was specially sent by Archmagos Drayne, inviting you to meet."

"He invited me?"

Emrys was a bit surprised; this was somewhat unexpected, he hadn't thought it would be a 'mutual journey.'

After pondering for a moment, he nodded slightly and said, "Please tell Drayne that I will definitely attend the meeting tonight."

Perfect, he also prepared a 'great gift' for Drayne!

The solution to the problem lies here!

Watching Elsa's retreating back, Emrys silently made up his mind: "I will never let that happen again."
