Thor certainly heard Odin's words.
But blinded by rage, he ignored his father entirely. All he could think about was avenging the Warriors Three of Asgard.
Even as Thanos faced a rampaging Thor, he remained calm before the Black Order warriors and the interstellar behemoths. Absolute power made their presence meaningless, mere spectators to a battle they could not influence. A wave of his hand signaled them to step aside. At their level, these soldiers were useless in a fight like this; at most, they could drain some energy—but there was no need to risk them now.
Obeying instantly, the Black Order and the beasts moved aside, allowing Thor and Odin to surge forward even faster.
At the same time, the five Black Generals finally emerged from the distance, gripping their weapons as they flew to support Odin and Thor. Though loyal, they still had to put on a show of protecting their master. Thanos, however, dismissed them with a single thought—planetary-level strength was nothing to him, and they could not affect his duel with Odin.
Soon, Thor, Mjolnir in hand, reached Thanos.
"Ah!" he roared, his aura exploding as he pushed toward the peak of the Sky Father's power. It felt like a breakthrough was imminent—but even at this level, he was still far from Thanos.
Then, a dangerous aura enveloped Thor. He glanced back and saw Odin, Spear of Eternity in hand, his remaining eye locked on Thanos. The aura was a clear signal—a cover for Thor.
Recognizing the threat, Thanos's energy surged. He drew the Tyrant Blade and slashed forward.
A sharp ding! echoed across the vacuum.
Thor felt the immense force through his hands, but he refused to yield, channeling every ounce of energy in his body. Lightning crackled across him, shooting in every direction. Yet no matter how hard he pushed, Mjolnir barely moved. The gap in strength was overwhelming.
"Is that all the power you have?" Thanos asked calmly.
Then, with both hands, he drove the Tyrant Blade forward. The purple light of the weapon blazed as Thor was thrown back, helpless against the force.
Odin swooped in instantly, catching Thor mid-air.
"Don't act recklessly. Have you forgotten yourself?" His voice held both anger and indulgence.
Thor, chest heaving, looked into his father's worried gaze and bowed his head. "I understand…"
Odin exhaled, relief tempered by pain as his eyes fell on Mjolnir. A huge crack ran almost through it—nearly splitting the hammer in two. Forged from a cooled star, Mjolnir was only a step below the Spear of Eternity. Yet Thanos's strike had almost cleaved it at a glance.
"No," Thor said, raising his head. "I will avenge them!"
He gripped the damaged hammer tightly, ready to strike again—but the sight of it, marred and broken, made him pause. This weapon had been his companion for hundreds of years. How could it be like this?
"Go back, now!" Odin warned, but before he could intervene, Thanos charged.
The purple giant internally scoffed. Father and son treated war like a performance. They flirted with danger as if the battlefield were a stage—and he would not wait for their theatrics to end.
Another ding! rang out. This time, the Tyrant Blade clashed with the Spear of Eternity—two supreme artifacts colliding in a sound that reverberated through the universe.
For the first time, Thanos sensed an equal. His excitement surged. After centuries, he had finally met an opponent who could match him.
Odin, in contrast, felt the weight of the battle. It would not be over quickly.
Steel met steel again and again—ding ding ding!—hundreds of blows in seconds, a blur too fast for anyone to follow.
Finally, Odin forced Thanos back, channeling his divine power into the Spear. White energy burst forth in a brilliant wave, only to collide with Thanos's purple destructive force. The impact cracked the very fabric of space.
Thor, ready to leave, turned back at the stalemate. He did not attack—his hammer too damaged—but he channeled lightning with both hands, surging toward Thanos.
"Thor! No!" Odin shouted, panic lacing his voice. His son could not possibly succeed in a sneak strike—the opponent hadn't even used his full strength.
It was too late. Thor was already within a meter of Thanos, lightning crackling from his hands, ready to strike.
Thanos smiled faintly—and vanished.
