Synopsis
Cody and Charlotte had always dismissed magic as nothing more than fairy tales until the day they decided to clear out their dusty old basement. There, hidden away in a forgotten corner, they found an ancient leather-bound notebook. As soon as they opened its pages, a cat stepped out before their very eyes and shocked them by revealing she was their grandmother’s sister, Alice Wendy, who was supposed to have died 65 years ago! She told them the notebook holds a vast collection of spells – from playful, lighthearted charms to potent magic that can shift the balance of power. But Aly also warned them she has enemies everywhere, people who will stop at nothing to steal the notebook and use its magic for dark purposes. Now, Cody and Charlotte have been entrusted with protecting the notebook at all costs and with it, the fate of the world.

Chapter 1 - the notebook

"Ugh, I'm so tired!"

"Me too! T-T Cody, why do we have to clean this ancient basement? UGHHHHHH this sucks!"

Mr. and Mrs. Wendy watched their complaining kids and smiled.

"Eh, didn't you two want extra pocket money?"

"Yeah, but this is way too tiring, Mom," Cody groaned.

"Hey, back when I was your age, your grandma told me to do something and I did it without fuss—"

Cody and Charlotte immediately backed away from their dad.

"Kids these days," Mr. Wendy shook his head gently.

Noticing how worn out they looked, Mrs. Wendy held out a plate of chocolate pancakes. Cody and Charlotte's eyes lit up like Christmas trees.

"Mom! Thank youuuuuuuu so much!"

They yelled in unison.

Mrs. Wendy smiled at their cuteness, then remembered she needed to hit the grocery store for household supplies. She nudged her husband and gave him a look—we need to go.

"OUH! I just remembered something!" Mr. Wendy said suddenly.

"What is it, Dad?" Cody asked.

"Your mom and I have to run to the supermarket to buy food."

"Wait, you haven't bought any yet?"

"Of course not—we've been busy fixing up the house, right?"

"True hehehehehe"

"Can you two stay home alone for a bit?"

"Yep!" Cody and Charlotte replied together.

"Bye, take care of the place!" Mrs. Wendy called out.

"Okay!"

Mr. and Mrs. Wendy left the basement and headed out to the car. Once they were definitely gone, Cody and Charlotte started chatting again.

"For real, I thought this house was owned by a witch or something—look at the decor! It's just like that webtoon I read!" Charlotte said.

"Sameeeeeeeee! Why's it so spooky though? And it's a mansion—ughhhhhhhhh that just makes it creepier."

"Hope we survive living here HAHAHAHA" Cody laughed.

"Yah hahahahahaha"

After their giggles died down, their eyes landed on a box in front of them. It had big, bold letters on it:

DON'T TOUCH IT! IT'S DANGEROUS

"Huh, what's this?" Charlotte asked. She reached for the box, but Cody pulled her hand back.

"Hey, sis—can't you read? It says don't touch." He sounded worried.

Charlotte gave him a side-eye.

"Look at my face."

"What about it?"

"Does my face look like I care?" She popped the box open before he could stop her.

"Eh?"

"What is it, sis?"

"I thought there'd be something amazing in here, but it's just a notebook, a pencil, a stick, and some glasses."

Cody peered inside.

"Awwww—is this our great-grandma's notebook? That's so cute 🥺"

Charlotte picked up the notebook. Wow, it's heavy! She lifted it with both hands.

"Awwww look at this!"

"What?"

04 JANUARY, 1958

I learned something from my neighbor, Mike Chain. He said he had powers—I didn't believe him at first (most boys my age say weird stuff to get your attention) until… he

He taught me a funny word "ka'thar ka'thar

aja"

"What? 'Ka'thar ka'thar aja'?" Cody read out loud.

BAM!!!

A blast of light exploded around them. Charlotte and Cody jumped, their eyes going wide as saucers.

"YOU SAW THAT TOO, RIGHT??"

"OFC YESSS!"

They had no idea the light was shining across the entire planet for two whole seconds.
