The sun had risen higher, but the woods remained dim. Dappled sunlight illuminated the forest floor, streaming through from the swaying leaves above.
The birds chirped, singing alongside the gentle humming of the rustling leaves. Occasionally, the sound of twigs creaking under footsteps rang quietly.
Ashrik and Lucille continued with their foraging mission. Sweat had soaked their back and dampened their hair. Their gloves and knives weren't spared either, stained with mud.
They weaved between the trees, looking for herbs. They spent most of the time crouching while digging for the forest's treasures. One by one, the herbs were unearthed.
Despite the tiring process, Lucille enjoyed each moment, thinking of how novel it was. Ashrik laughed when she praised this forest for not harboring mosquitoes, centipedes, or other dangerous insects.
