Chapter 2 - D-Day

"Now that we've gone over D-Day and its implications on humanity, who among the class would like to summarize what we learned?"

A beautiful auburn-haired teacher adjusted her glasses. In a classroom setting, she stood behind a desk, her voluptuous figure too prominent for the wood of the desk to hide.

Upon seeing a geeky spectacles-wearing boy raise his hand, the teacher called on him.

"Go ahead, Ethan."

Adjusting his glasses, a glint appeared in them as the boy chortled, "Heh, this topic is truly elementary. However, for the sake of Miss May, I'll perfectly summarize D-Day—to a level that even a simpleton can understand."

The dozens of other uniform-wearing students in the class rolled their eyes. Ethan was acting as pompous as always, all because he was a teacher's pet and had good grades.

"So basically…" Ethan went on to summarize the topic.

From what he said, approximately 300 years ago, in 2030, the "Earth" experienced a major world-wide event. The temperatures increased, the sea levels rose, and the Moon shifted off orbit.

The day this all happened came to be known as "D-Day", where the world seemed like it really was going to end.

However, after a full 24 hours passed, the half a billion humans still left alive on Earth came to a shocking realization:

The sweltering heat was no more. The icebergs stopped multiplying. And the planet entered a state of unsettling calmness.

Even more surprising, the surface area of the world increased by millions of times what it once was!

Earth—now larger than the Sun—took on the role of the center of the Solar System. And with the original Earth becoming the focal point of what was named "Blue Star", an entirely new world opened up for the Earthlings.

New minerals. Resources aplenty. An ecological culture that wasn't previously there. Enough space to house countless trillions of humans.

Earth had become a paradise.

However… With great opportunity often came great danger.

This new, massive world was not the one they once knew—that much they were sure of.

There lived creatures in its endless expanse of land and sea that defied all common sense.

—Giant bipedal behemoths capable of dealing mass destruction. Leviathans swimming in the blue depths. Nightmarish monsters larger than planets. Intelligent Natives that killed everything on sight—

In an instant, Earthlings went from the strongest species to the weakest.

And with the extinction of mankind being but a mere accidental footstep away, Earthlings were forced to band together. They disregarded ethnicity, religion, and age, and with their dwindling population, they banded together against the "Ancient Wilderlands".

Of course, to the truly mighty in the Ancient Wilderlands, their so-called "Earth Alliance" wasn't even worth mentioning.

They were ants.

Nothing more, nothing less.

"And then, most important of all," Ethan turned his nose up, proudly declaring, "The inhabitants of Prime Earth and the Earth Alliance acquired the ability to contend with the savages of Blue Star!"

Although the boy stated as so, it wasn't entirely true that Earthlings could compete with the Natives of Blue Star. Even after centuries past D-Day, they were still incredibly weak in the grand scheme of things.

Nevertheless, around a year after Earth was renamed Prime Earth and the wider world as Blue Star, Earthlings awakened to the environment.

It was this awakening that brought about the birth of—Hunters.

Powerful Earthlings who adapted to the magically-infused atmosphere of Blue Star—The Chosen Ones—Those who hunted in the Ancient Wilderness to claw at survival for their pitiful species.

"Out of 1000 people, only one awakens as a Hunter," Teacher May took over, much to Ethan's disgruntlement. "That's an extremely small number, isn't it? Well, worry not, because Awakening is not a win all or lose all situation. Even if you aren't fortunate enough to gain access to the |Primordial Record|, there are plenty of valuable job positions that still need to be filled..."

Suddenly pausing, Teacher May glanced over at a certain corner of the classroom, where a boy with messy black hair was sleeping.

A frown formed on her exquisite features as she made the "Ahem" sound before saying, "Perhaps Von would like to tell the Class who the strongest Hunters in our world are?"

Everyone turned their attention toward the back of the classroom. When they saw that relatively handsome face pressed up against his desk, they started to gossip.

They just knew they were about to see something interesting.

However, they never could've expected what happened next…

Just then, Von's eyes snapped open. He shot forward, killing intent radiating from his gaze as he pushed his desk over.

However, he froze when he realized where he was.

"..." "..." "..."

The whole classroom was startled by his random outburst. They stared at him like he was a lunatic, wondering what sort of drugs he was on.

"Hmm…?" Von's red eyes surveyed his surroundings.

His mind quickly processed his situation—and even with how absurd it sounded, he muttered, "Time has been… turned back?"
