The next day, it was nearly noon when Rory stepped out of her room, refreshed and radiant, and went looking for Nix.
Nix was in the kitchen, busy preparing lunch for her. The moment he saw her appear in the doorway, his eyes lit up.
"Rory, you're awake! I made something delicious. Go sit and wait for a bit—it'll be ready soon."
The rich aroma filling the kitchen made Rory smile. "It smells amazing. Nix, your cooking keeps getting better and better. You're incredible."
Among everyone in the house, Nix had the most natural talent for cooking.
At her praise, his grin widened uncontrollably. "As long as you like it, that's all that matters."
He had always worried that if his dishes weren't good enough, she might lose interest.
Rory stepped forward and quickly kissed his cheek. "After lunch, come out with me for a while. And when we get back tonight… we'll complete the bonding."
