"Teacher…"
The moment Rai opened the door, he could already read the expressions on their faces.
Confusion.
The same confusion mirrored his own, as all three of them stood there in awkward silence, each clearly trying to process what exactly was happening.
Neither of the boys had expected to see him here.
"We… um…" Keith scratched the back of his neck, glancing uncertainly at Ron before looking back at Rai. "We thought Doctor Grey would be home today."
Rai blinked.
'They're here for Zade?'
That only made the situation stranger.
He looked between the two boys, mind already racing through several possible explanations.
"We didn't know… teacher lived here too," Keith added carefully.
Rai noticed Ron barely speaking. His posture was stiff, shoulders tense, eyes lowered to the ground as though he was forcing himself not to panic.
Keith, meanwhile, kept glancing past Rai into the apartment as if expecting someone else to appear.
