Zade and his friends had just finished lunch and were about to leave when he felt his phone buzz in his pocket. He almost ignored it, but paused and pulled it out. The moment he saw the screen, he sat right back down.
It was a message from Rai.
A huge grin spread across his face and Shawn gave him a side-eye at the sudden shift in behavior, but chose not to say anything and walked out ahead.
But, then, Shawn completely missed how quickly Zade's grin vanished.
Yeah, it was not good.
'Fuck. I forgot! I forgot to unblock Dad!'
Zade frantically tapped through his settings to unblock his father's number. But even after the restriction was lifted, a wave of nausea hit him. His stomach twisted into a tight, sick knot.
He couldn't fathom how he had been brave enough or well, stupid enough to do something like that in the first place. He should have just silenced his phone like he usually did, ignored the calls, and lied later about being asleep.
