That night, Rai decided to prove, once and for all, that he wasn't scared or threatened by Zade's whole hugging saga. He sat on the sofa, laptop open, convinced he wouldn't run away this time.
Well, he did bolt the moment he heard Zade's car pull into the driveway. But he had quickly composed himself, even putting on his reading glasses to sell the act of nonchalance.
Who knew it would come to this? It was all because of that bastard.
"Oh, is darling awake today?"
Zade smirked, throwing his arm onto the back of the sofa, looming over Rai without actually sitting down. Yet.
"Yeah. What does it look like?" Rai muttered, sharpening his tone. "And don't you see I'm busy? Don't talk. It's distracting. And annoying."
Rai felt a shameless, hypocritical thrill of victory after throwing those words at him. It felt good to insult the bastard.
"Sure thing."
