When Zade returned Rai was exactly where he had left him, huddled in the rigid plastic seat. He hadn't shifted an inch. He was bent sharply forward, elbows resting heavily on his knees, with his face completely buried in his palms.
Honestly, Zade hadn't trusted Rai for a single second to be alright if left alone. He knew exactly how shattered the man was by the whole incident.
It wasn't that he had thought of asking Shawn for a favor or to inquire about Ron's status but, no, Zade himself needed to check on the boy.
Over the past months, he had grown quite fond of the kid. And, he felt quite important to personally care about.
Thankfully, though the boy's condition remained critical, Ron had survived the initial surgery. He was currently stable, resting under the watchful eyes of the ICU staff.
The moment Zade received the confirmation, even going so far as to check the medical charts himself just to assure himself again, he felt that weight lifted off his chest.
