If you don't slack off at work, you might as well be a salted fish!
After eating and drinking, Steve Rogers led the vampire guards into the sewers.
According to their investigation, the Harvester's nest was hidden somewhere in this section of the sewer — the same one from Blade II.
Over the past few months, several maintenance workers had mysteriously disappeared here. Even the police investigation led to more deaths instead of answers.
The air reeked with decay, and the oppressive darkness made it clear why no one dared to come near.
Steve began dividing everyone into groups, completely ignoring the guards' dissatisfaction.
He actually enjoyed their frustration. They hated him — the human who dared to steal the heart of their most beautiful vampire princess — yet they couldn't beat him. That irony alone made him smile.
A human seducing their princess? It was like a slap to their pride.
They were vampires — the elite of their kind — and he, a mere human, didn't even pretend to respect them.
Sorry, but no.
It was no wonder the guards were seething. Even though they were facing Captain America, their instincts screamed for revenge.
Steve's team included Nissa, Wei Lian, Snowman (played by Donnie Yen), and Blade. The rest were assigned elsewhere.
He'd chosen this lineup for a reason — mainly to keep Snowman alive. Not only did Snowman remind him of Master Ip Man, but he was also the only vampire who treated him with respect instead of hostility.
Vampires lived long lives, so most had developed arrogance toward humans. Snowman was different — he respected strength and understood the bigger picture. That was enough for Steve.
Besides, having loyal followers would help Nissa inherit North Laoden's empire. Once that was settled, maybe they'd have time to explore whether humans and vampires could have children together.
Snowman: "Thank you so much, Captain. You're such a good person!"
The group advanced cautiously through the sewer. Nissa and Wei Lian stayed on high alert. They had fought mutant vampires before and knew just how terrifying they could be.
These creatures were resilient beyond belief. Even after death, their organs could continue functioning.
Given enough blood, they could revive themselves — becoming zombie-like monsters driven by nothing but hunger.
Steve, meanwhile, seemed almost relaxed as he surveyed the area. He knew something they didn't.
The signal transmitter he'd planted in the castle earlier had done its job.
EDITH, the artificial intelligence system Tony Stark had created, had successfully breached the castle's firewall and uncovered shocking data:
These mutant vampires were the result of genetic experiments by Lord North himself.
More precisely, they were the failed by-products of his research — immune to garlic and silver, with greatly enhanced speed and strength.
But they were also uncontrollably bloodthirsty, needing as much blood as thirty vampires each day.
The vampire genetic code was extremely stable, meaning they couldn't evolve naturally. Only artificial genetic modification could change them.
North had always sought to eliminate his race's three major weaknesses: garlic, silver, and sunlight. If he succeeded, he would become immortal — perhaps even the ruler of the world.
The existence of Blade, a half-human, half-vampire hybrid with none of the traditional weaknesses, only fueled North's obsession. To him, Blade represented the perfect vampire.
Unfortunately, the experiments were disastrous. The resulting mutants were uncontrollable, violent, and a threat to his reign.
Ironically, their leader — Chad Norma — was North's own son.
The king had used his own child as a test subject, only to later try to destroy him. Their hatred had long since become personal — a father laughing at his fallen son.
Having pieced this together, Steve could now stay calm.
He didn't plan to exterminate the mutant vampires outright. Instead, he intended to use this conflict — to have Chad Norma kill Lord North.
Then, with North gone, Nissa could rightfully inherit the throne and take control of the vampire empire.
From there, Steve could help her consolidate power — and maybe claim a little of that wealth himself.
Once North was dead, countless heirs would fight over the inheritance. A fortune comparable to a small nation was bound to draw blood.
From deep within the sewer came the sounds of gunfire, growling, and screams.
Steve spotted a massive water treatment pool up ahead — but instead of clean water, it was filled with countless bones. Human and animal skeletons floated on the surface like macabre trophies.
Nissa and Wei Lian froze, the world around them seeming to go silent. Their hearts pounded as a high-pitched ringing filled their ears.
Steve calmly pulled out a spherical bomb, activated it, and tossed it fifty meters into the pool.
He pulled both women back, shielding them from the ultraviolet blast that followed.
Splash!
The pool erupted as a swarm of mutant vampires emerged — their jaws splitting open like those of night demons.
Their bodies were covered in tiny syringe-like fangs capable of draining an adult's blood in less than a minute.
Fwoosh!
Before they could attack, the bomb detonated, flooding the chamber with ultraviolet light. Screaming in agony, the creatures turned to ash in seconds.
As the light faded, Steve stepped forward, pressing Nissa and Wei Lian gently against the wall.
For a split second, Nissa thought he was getting playful — until Steve suddenly spun and delivered a powerful roundhouse kick.
A figure had lunged at them from behind. Steve's kick sent it flying backward.
The pale attacker landed hard, cracking his neck back into place. His chin split slightly, revealing a grotesque seam — as if his head could break apart at any moment.
It was Chad Norma, the mutant vampire leader.
"Captain, you're strong," Chad said with a grin. "Defeat me, and I'll tell you a secret."
Steve didn't even answer. He dashed forward, driving his knee into Chad's chest with explosive force.
Before Chad could even react, Steve seized both his arms, twisted them, and hurled him over his shoulder, slamming him into the ground hard enough to leave a crater.
Energy rippled through Steve's body as he gathered it into his fist and punched Chad directly in the heart.
The thick bones protecting his chest shattered under the blow, making Chad howl in pain.
He had only meant to test Captain America's strength — but now he realized the truth:
This was no contest. It was a massacre.
Steve Rogers didn't just rely on power; he had decades of battlefield experience and unmatched combat instincts.
"Stop hitting me, brother-in-law! I'm your brother-in-law! I surrender! I surrender!" Chad screamed.
Bang!
Steve grabbed him and threw him into a wall, embedding him halfway through the concrete.
The sheer dominance of his fighting left Nissa and Wei Lian stunned — and proud. Tears welled in their eyes.
This was their man — handsome, powerful, and capable of protecting them.
Wasn't that exactly the kind of security every woman longed for?
Wei Lian felt her heart flutter as she tightened her grip on Nissa's hand. She was truly happy that her princess was marrying Steve.
As her maid and bodyguard… maybe she could share in that happiness too.
