Chapter 3 - 3: Seven Stars

On Earth, Demons were the enemies of mankind. Portals suddenly appeared all over the world one day, and these portals led to the Demon Realm.

Also, on the day portals appeared, other beings arrived on their planet.

They called themselves the Heralds.

The Heralds had the strangest appearance humans had ever seen, and some even had nightmares because of their appearance.

They wore masks on their faces, and they appeared like cracked marble statues with golden light seeping from fractures on their bodies.

Whenever they spoke, the sound originated from their entire bodies and not their lips. Sometimes, a piece of their body chips off and reforms mid-conversation.

They also had lanterns beside them that sometimes emitted screams and whispers that could harm mortal humans. Shadows from their lanterns formed shapes like claws, eyes, of wings behind them.

Many had joked that if the Heralds were said to be demonic beings, they would believe, but they were not.

They were sent to Earth by gods who desired to help humans out of compassion.

They brought a system to every human, and then they told the world what was going on and what they needed to do.

Survive and fight the demons so that they can protect their world, Earth.

They also gave them the ability to fight demons, and this ability was called a Blessing.

Every human received a Blessing, and the type of Blessing varied.

There were four types of Blessings, Guardian Blessings, Elemental Blessings, Martial Blessings, and Divine Blessings.

Guardian Blessings were gotten from beings that were demigods, a step below gods.

Elemental Blessings were gotten from elemental spirits.

Martial Blessings were gotten from martial spirits.

And Divine Blessings were gotten from gods.

One might think that all Blessings were gotten from gods, but that was not true.

There were billions of humans on earth, and the number of gods was clearly not up to that.

Although there was no official grading of blessings, it was widely accepted that Divine Blessings were most often stronger than Guardian, Elemental, and Martial Blessings.

However, Simon knew that there were some Guardian, Elemental, and Martial Blessings that were stronger than some Divine Blessings, and also had higher potentials.

Back in Earth, Simon had a Divine Blessing, and his Divine Blessing was a strange one.

Seven Stars.

That was what his Blessing was called, and it was a blessing that allowed him to become the strongest human on Earth.

Seven Stars was a Blessing that allowed him to have only seven abilities unlike every other person that could gain several abilities either from their patrons or from other sources.

However, his Blessing allowed him to improve his proficiency of the abilities at a rapid pace while also allowing him to break past the limit of the ability.

When he first got this ability, he thought it was an ability that would severely limit him, but as he progressed on the path of power, he realized just how powerful his ability was.

'The Nameless One.' Simon thought with a slight frown as he recalled his patron god on Earth, and he wondered if he or she was the person responsible for his reincarnation.

'It has to be. I know nothing about my patron god since he doesn't communicate with me and he's so mysterious to the point that no other god has ever spoken of him... or they dared not to do because of fear.'

Simon exhaled softly, but his lips twitched slightly when he heard the cute sound he made.

'I'm still a baby... A demon baby to be precise.'

Simon shook his head, and then he focused on what he really wanted to do.

Without Blessings, there was no way humans could protect Earth from Demons. Demons were physically stronger, faster, more durable, and they could also use chaos/magic.

And those with powerful bloodlines also had bloodline skills and abilities.

As a demon, Simon knew that if he wanted to get survive and not die so quickly after been given a second chance, he needed to get stronger.

However, he needed to get stronger using the methods of demons, and this was where the problem was.

His knowledge on how demons progressed and became stronger was not sufficient.

There was no system or translucent screen in front of him to show his progression and requirements to reach the next level.

However, after spending six months as a baby in the demon realm, Simon had done one thing apart from observing his mother and taking peeks outside their house.

He had been studying his body, and he noticed something he did not expect at all.

He still had his Blessing. He could feel it deep within in his soul, and he was extremely happy when he realized this.

He had no idea why or how it was possible for a demon to have a Blessing, but he guessed that it was related to his patron god.

'My patron god keeps on becoming more and more mysterious. Was this a mistake? Or was it intentional by my patron god?...'

'...How powerful are gods anyway? I've found myself asking this question numerous times in my past life. Despite been so close to becoming a... Haaah. Whatever, let's leave the past to the past amd move on.'

Simon closed his eyes, and then he delved deep into his consciousness.

Because of his decades of experience in his past life, he was able to enter his Sea of Consciousness after some seconds.

'Hmm? This is different... A lot more different.' Simon thought as he looked at his Sea of Consciousness with a slight frown.

As a human in his past life, his Sea of Consciousness looked like a normal blue sea that had no waves. It was always peaceful.

But now... His Sea of Consciousness was completely black and heavy, and Simon could feel something... sinister in his Sea of Consciousness.

Simon looked around, and a few seconds later when he saw that nothing was wrong and he felt alright, he calmed down.

'I guess this is how the Sea of Consciousness of a demon looks like.'

He looked up, and then he saw seven black stars hovering above him.
