The ear-splitting roar of a void beast, a sign that the creature was at the end of its life.
The 10-meter-tall bipedal creature lay on the ground. Its anatomy was almost human-like, but its head was just a giant eyeball with a mouth.
Hollowed out with numerous slash wounds on the void beast's body, dark purple blood oozed out from all sources of wounds.
As the void beast breathed its last, the creature's body disintegrated into tiny pieces, as small as sand, then disintegrated again to the molecular stage and finally all of its particles.
Vanished into thin air...
All void beasts that died experienced the same thing. Their bodies disintegrated and simply vanished. Their heads, torsos, teeth, hair, and even blood also vanished, leaving behind a bright purple crystal ball.
That was the void core. Each void beast has void cores of various sizes, ranging from small as marbles to large as basketballs.
All the void beasts defeated by Alya and her army are now gone, leaving behind many void cores scattered everywhere.
All the void hunters now picked up all the void cores that were lying around. Once they were done, everyone seemed happy with their accomplishment and prepared for the next step.
Amidst the crowd, Irvan still sat silently scratching his head in frustration.
Alya walked up to the teenage boy. "What's wrong? We have to go. The cleaning unit will come and all activity will return -"
"How can I be calm?!" shouted Irvan. "Someone just died and disappeared from the world. The more I try to remember, the more impossible it is to imagine. Who was that person?! Was he or her someone important?! Did I talk to that person?!"
Irvan's eyes opened wide. "Wait a minute! I talked to that person! We had a conversation about -"
Irvan didn't remember...
He couldn't remember what they had talked about. As he tried to remember, his brain no longer remembered that he had interacted with Geralt just a few moments ago.
"Eh?! What is this? It feels like I'm forgetting something important. But what is it?!" shouted Irvan who gripped his head tightly.
Alya came over and tapped Irvan on the shoulder. "Don't push it, you'll go crazy. Everyone the void beast eats will vanish from reality. It doesn't matter who they are or what they have done."
Alya continued her steps forward. "Check whoever had been eaten by void beasts and the number of void beasts defeated. The void cores we collect will be taken directly to the energy bank."
No one responded to Alya's words. The woman stopped her steps and turned back. She looked at her troops who were just as confused as she was. Because the order was a special order for the vice captain.
Alya finally realized what happened and she was just pensive for a few moments while looking down with a blank stare. "I see... I just lost my vice-captain."
--------------------------------------------------
All void beasts have been defeated and things are back to normal.
The outskirts were devastated, and the majority of the buildings had been razed to the ground, but it was different in the center of the city.
The iron doors on the ground are now slowly opening. Like sliding doors embedded under the ground, the iron plates shifted slowly and revealed many large hole filled with buildings.
One by one, the buildings slowly rise to the ground. Like the elevators of the buildings scattered in the city, the giant mechanism made it possible for large buildings to descend into the ground and also rise above the ground at any time needed.
All the buildings returned to normal and it didn't take 30 minutes before people returned to their activities as if nothing terrible had just happened, on the contrary, many people seemed enthusiastic about what they had just experienced.
---------------------------------------------------
A large room with high ceilings, large pillars with no motifs or patterns standing tall, black tiled floors and cream-colored walls.
The empty lobby was now being entered by void hunters in red uniforms carrying several large metal boxes.
Alya was at the front and was the first to be greeted by the receptionists standing behind the counter.
There are 4 receptionists who have simple tasks; welcoming the important guests such as people from the government or companies that manage energy resources; managing the data of void hunters officially registered in the city; and most importantly...
Buying void cores from void hunters.
The building was an energy bank, the only place officially licensed to buy and sell void cores.
While Alya was in front of the receptionists, only three people were willing to serve her and her subordinates because one receptionist was serving a man who arrived earlier than Alya, that man was Arya.
A rather dirty looking shirt with jeans that were also slightly covered in grass and dust, an all too casual appearance for a void hunter.
When the man turned to Alya, the man's blue eyes immediately met Alya's red eyes.
The curious Alya immediately approached Arya. "Which guild are you from?"
Arya was a little surprised and looked a little nervous, he immediately put on a friendly smile and straightened his posture. "Oh, hey, how are you? I'm new in here, I hope I'm not bothering you guys."
Arya glanced at Alya's subordinate and monologued in his mind while keeping a close eye on the red-haired woman in front of him. 'Such a large number, they must be in the same guild as this woman. I don't see anyone wearing a uniform other than that red one. Is that the rule in this city?'
Arya with a friendly smile continued her conversation with Alya. "Sorry for late introduction, my name is Arya Tara, I hope we can get along as fellow void hunters."
Alya looked him up and down. 'This person is wearing casual clothes and his clothes are not torn at all. If he defeated a void beast by himself, at least he's not a beginner.'
Alya smiled along. "Oh, is that so? Then, I'd like to welcome you to Alpu city, my name is Alya, Alya Reid, I hope we can have a good relationship in the future."
The receptionist who served Arya finally finished taking care of the void core and important files, the receptionist carried a purple plastic card that had a small chip on it.
The receptionist gave the plastic card with both hands to Arya. "This is your payment, thank you for trusting us with your transaction."
Arya took the purple card. "Thank you for the payment." The man looked back at Alya. "Then, please excuse me, Miss Alya."
Alya continued to look at Arya who was now walking out of the building. 'Maybe he can be useful in my guild.'
Arya walked past the red uniformed void hunters who were chatting casually. The man continued his steps and when he was outside the building, he looked around and realized one thing, no one else wanted to enter the energy bank.
'It feels strange, only me and those people in red uniforms are doing void core transactions. Is there only one guild in this city? But it seems a bit impossible, since she asked which guild I'm from,' Arya thought as he looked at the people going about their normal activities.
Arya sighed. "It's none of my business anyway. I was supposed to teach today as a substitute teacher, but because of the appearance of those void beasts, the school is closed today. I think I'll take a walk in the city today."
The man walked to the ATM machine next to the energy bank and inserted the purple card he had just received. He looked carefully at what was written on the screen.
[ Alpu's Energy Bank ]
[ You got 2,000,000 Narat check ]
[ Accept as Arya Tara ]
[ Transfer to Other Account ]
Arya chose to accept the money and not long after that the notification on his phone rang. Notification in his bank application saying that 2 million Narat had been successfully received.
The man smiled slightly but a transparent green panel suddenly appeared in front of him.
[ 24-Hours Currency loan ]
[ 1,500,000 Narat has been paid ]
It was a notification message from the Currency Converter, his D4 ability.
Arya looked at his bank account again and the money in his account was now 500,100 Narat.
He sighed heavily. "This power is really practical, but at the same time it feels detrimental if it has to be used like this."
Arya resigned himself to his situation and tried to stay positive with the money he had left.
He decided to go to the best restaurant in the city to celebrate his success, but his plans had to be altered when two large men in black suits showed up and confronted him.
"Tsk, are you guys really going to follow me all the way here?" Arya looked annoyed and felt uncomfortable with the presence of the two men.
"You should already know, it's impossible to run away. Remember, you still have a big debt," said one of the men in a black suit.
Arya handed over a green piece of paper money worth of 10 Narat. "This is all I can give you."
"Huh?! 10 Narat?! Do you think we're joking?! Come with us!" said the man in the black suit who immediately dragged Arya somewhere else.
