Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: You Don't Belong Here

It took Evander half a day to get out of the forest. When he arrived at the nearest town, the sun had already risen. Evander estimated that it was already 8 a.m., because he saw many people lining up in front of the town gate.

That's why Evander was able to sneak into the city without being noticed by the gate guards. Evander only had a little money with him at the moment, so he wouldn't be able to buy anything if he had to pay the entrance fee.

"Luckily there were a lot of people gathered there, otherwise I would have had to rack my brains to sneak into the city," Evander muttered with a happy chuckle.

"Looks like I have to find a store that sells the equipment I need right away." That was when Evander felt people staring at him, so he pulled his hood closer to hide his face.

The streets of Stone Hinged were quite crowded, and the buying and selling around the roads was very lively. Evander could even smell freshly baked bread from a distance, and without realizing it, he felt hungry.

Feeling that he would not find a tool shop if he continued like this, Evander decided to ask one of the fruit sellers.

"Excuse me, do you know where I can get an axe and a pickaxe? I've been wandering around for a while, but I haven't found a single shop that sells those items," said Evander with a soft sigh.

"Are you a new adventurer?" The fruit seller chuckled when he saw Evander's confusion.

Evander scratched the back of his neck awkwardly and nodded slowly. "You're right. I'm not very familiar with the layout of this city," Evander replied with a slight grimace.

"Go to the next block, you can find them there. This block is specifically for daily necessities," explained the fruit seller kindly.

"Ahh, I see. No wonder I couldn't find it here. Thank you for the information!" Evander bowed his head politely, then turned to go to another block of the city.

Evander turned in the other direction when he reached the intersection in front of him, entering another block of the city. And sure enough, the scenery there was very different from the street he had passed earlier.

The sound of hammers striking iron that had just been taken out of the furnace rang loudly in the air. In addition to blacksmith shops, elixir shops, and medicine shops were also visible in the distance.

"Finally, I found a tool shop," said Evander with relief when he saw the shop he was looking for.

Without waiting long, Evander hurried into the shop. A loud bell rang as Evander gently pushed open the wooden door.

"Welcome!"

A shout came from the back of the shop. Evander looked around and saw many items that caught his attention in the shop's display window.

However, considering that he only had a little money, Evander could only buy the items he needed.

"What are you looking for, young man?" A man wearing glasses approached Evander with a friendly face.

"I need an axe and a pickaxe. Do you have them? They don't have to be too good, as long as they are durable," replied Evander, quickly adding that he was looking for affordable items.

Although he understood that Evander didn't have much money, the man with glasses still smiled kindly and took Evander to one of the display cases that showed the items he wanted.

"May I examine it first?" Evander couldn't help but ask.

"Of course."

Using the System's features, Evander began to examine the items. He tried to find the best quality items at the most reasonable prices.

Evander couldn't help but be frugal, considering that in his previous life he also had to manage his finances carefully in order to survive amid difficult economic turmoil.

Finally, Evander chose a Silver Axe and a Miner Pickaxe, then turned to the man with glasses.

"How much are these two items?" Evander still had to ask to adjust his limited budget.

"7 Gold for the Axe and 9 Gold for the Pickaxe. You won't get such a good price for such high-quality items anywhere else, so I recommend you buy them now," said the man with glasses, still with a friendly smile on his face.

"Not bad. Alright, I'll buy both items," replied Evander, not bothered by the price of the items he wanted.

"Please wait out front, I'll wrap them up for you."

Evander obeyed the man's instructions and waited for him to prepare his items.

"Do you want to buy a magic bag? I see you don't have one, it will be difficult to carry these items without a magic bag," said the man with glasses when Evander was about to pay for his purchases.

"Magic bag?" Evander looked confused when he heard the name of the item, but from the name alone, he could guess its use.

Actually, Evander didn't need one, considering he had an Inventory from the System. It's just that Evander also couldn't let people in this world suspect him if he could suddenly pull items out of thin air.

"If I may ask, how much does the magic bag cost?" Finally, Evander decided to ask the price.

"2 Gold for the lowest quality," replied the man with glasses with a grin on his face.

Realizing that he had fallen into this cheap marketing trap, Evander could only grin wryly.

"Then please add it to my purchase," Evander replied, resignedly handing over his 18 Gold coins to the man with glasses.

The man with glasses handed Evander his purchase after receiving his payment.

Before leaving, Evander decided to ask the man something. "Hmm, can you recommend a place to buy affordable weapons around here? I'm not very familiar with this city, so..."

"Ahh! No wonder I felt like I was seeing a stranger when I looked at you. So you're a newcomer. Go to Evertale Blacksmith, they sell good quality weapons at low prices," replied the man, happily giving Evander his recommendation.

"Thank you! Your help is greatly appreciated!" Evander thanked the man before finally turning around and leaving the place.

However, just as Evander pulled the shop door open to walk out, unexpectedly, there was someone behind the door who also intended to enter.

So Evander ended up bumping into that person because he was so surprised that he was pushed backwards, and his back hit a display case.

Because of that, the hood covering Evander's face slipped off his head. As a result, Evander's skull was exposed, causing the two people inside the store to stare in disbelief.

"Undead?! Why is this cursed creature here!" The man who bumped into Evander immediately shouted angrily, pointing his sword at Evander.
