They have successfully walked through the forest and pass that level. That level was a terror, they could hear werewolves howl every minute and weird sound from the trees. These scared the heck out of everyone except of Will.
"That sure was hell!"
Al sighed as they exited the level. They entered into the dungeon corridor like the last time. They continued walking down the dungeon corridor and reached in front of a huge door. While they were walking, they sparked up a small talk that didn't end really well...
Will:"So... You are a beast?"
Purrine:"A beastfolk, basically human beast,"
Will:"Interesting, I never thought of it up until now, must have been killing beasts in dungeon gave me this thought,"
Purrine:"haha..."
Will:"Do you feel sad when you kill another beast, after all, you guys are 'beastfolk',"
Purrine:"Uh..."
Will:"Are beast and beastfolk related?"
Purrine:"uhh...."
Will:"Do beastfolk ever have beast as pet?"
Purrine:"uhhh..."
Purrine started panicking, tears started swelling up from her eyes.
Al:"Stop asking, Will, can't you see she is scared of your question you asked?"
Will:"..., I see, my apology for my unmannered behavior, miss Purrine,"
Purrine:"You speak so formal..."
Will:"Formal? This is casual speaking for me, respect must be shown to fellow commoner between each other, that was what I was taught,..."
Al sighed as Purrine was confused by his word. Do people back then speak in such formal? Al thought to himself as they reached to the gate to the next level.
Al:"This gate is unusually large,"
Raye:"It look more like a city styled gate when you try to enter a city in a kingdom,"
Purrine:"Maybe the next level is a city based level?"
Raye:"I thought so too, let's just get in, Will, mind helping me opening this gate?"
Raye and Will pushed the gate opened and behind the gate, was a pathway with grass beside it. They entered the next level and walked down that path. The pathway was long. Beside it were trees and grass, and a few small plant. It seems peaceful and no sign of beast just yet, that's what Purrine said.
Purrine:"..., There is no sign of beast here,"
Will:"You used your nose to smell the environment?"
Purrine:"Yes, all beastfolk are able to do so,"
They walked down the long path until finally spotting a city just right down the pathway. They reached at the gate of the city and noticed a few guards guarding.
Raye:"Weird, I never see human working in a level of a dungeon,"
Purrine:"Maybe the human right there are a checkpoint or, entity made by the dungeon?"
Al:"Human entity? That sounded weird,"
Raye then walked toward one of the guards and spoke with him. They let them entered the city and were in shock. The city is lively, the streets are bustling, bargaining and quarrels and be heard from the market, as if it is imitating a real life city. They entered a guild and ordered lunch.
"It is on the house,"
"Really? Thanks!"
They were quickly served with their food and they dig in. Eating like they never have eaten in ages.
Al:"Finally, real food, even if it is made by a dungeon, it tasted like real food!"
Purrine:"My, I haven't had such a luxurious meal in days!"
They quickly finished their meal and were full. They thank the waiter and left the guild.
Raye:"I say we take a break in this level for a while, this level doesn't seem hostile to me,"
Al:"YES, I can finally get a nice sleep,"
They settled down in an inn. They decided to walked the streets of the city at the meantime. The streets are filled with people. Chatting noises can be heard among the crowd. Raye and Purrine walked down the streets. A jewelry store and a bread shop, Purrine got a necklace with a diamond on the middle of it and Raye got a few piece of bread enough for four people to continue the journey.
Purrine:"I can't believed we get this things for free! The necklace there are all so beautiful,"
Raye:"Yea, though something feel off..."
Every time they passed by the crowd, they would be smiling at them. This concerned Raye since it felt weird.
On the other side, Will and Al walked the bustling market. People bargaining and child crying filled the ears of both of them. Will stopped by and look at a magic item, Al looked at magic crystal until all of a sudden a man kneeling on the ground started shouting. Everyone around look uneasy and Will and Al walked toward the commotion. The man started saying random stuff.
"Where am I? where is my party? what is this place?"
The man then looked toward Will and Al's direction and grabbed their clothes.
"You guys, you guys are a hero party, where am I? what is this place? TELL ME!"
Will pushed him away and walked at another direction, opposite of the man. Al looked concerned but catch up with Will.
Al:"Hey, don't you think that guy is acting weird?"
Will:"..."
Dusk fall, They gathered up at the inn, talking about their reports.
Raye:"Nothing much happened to us, what about you?"
Al:"A man started yelling random things like 'Where is my party?' or stuff like that,"
Raye:"Something is off..."
Purrine looked concerned about the situation. They decided to call it off and hit the hay.
The next day, they decided to leave this level, they ate their final meal and prepared food enough for the rest of the journey. As they are leaving,
"Purrine! It is you, Purrine! Talk to me, why aren't you talking to me? Do you not recognized me? Purrine!"
Purrine stepped back, scared.
Raye:"Sorry, I don't think we ever meet before, please do not dis-"
"I met her before, I know her! She is the mage of my party! Purrine, it's me, your captain, don't you recognize me?"
Purrine:"....,Sorry, but I don't think we met before,"
Al pushed them forward, urging them to leave before a commotion rise. Will looked back at the man, staring at them. He looked terrified, as if the world is against him.
Will:"..."
"What was that, that's the same man we met yesterday!"
They left the level and stopped to discussed what happened.
Raye:"I don't know, do you think he is speaking the truth? But Purrine don't recognizes him..."
Will:"It's simple, those people we met at that level are people that died in the dungeon,"
Everyone was shocked at what Will have just said.
Will:"This is just a theory, when someone die in the dungeon, their soul would be trapped inside the dungeon instead of going to the above or below, those soul will be reincarnated into human that helped the level like the one we just left,"
Raye:"So what you are saying is that they will live forever int he dungeon as their new role forever, having their past memory and forced to live this new life that is suffering?"
Will:"Precisely,"
Purrine:"That's awful..."
Will:"Sure is, we just have to live if we don't want to end up like that,"
They now learned the dark truth of the dungeon and continued their journey deeper into the dungeon.
