The Everlight exited the dungeon feeling tired and gloomy except for Will. He had forced the whole Everlight party to conquered the dungeon for snickering at him and put them in a harsh time making them experienced near death situation with Raye fighting a large wild hog, Al getting hunted by a hoard of ogres and goblins and Amethia fighting in Will's harsh training.
Raye not wanting to stay here for too long decided to depart from this city and headed for the next. He took out a map he had bought from a local store in the city and took a glance at it. The Kingdom of Ferria is a very big kingdom. Larger than the few kingdoms that they had visited previously. Some might say it's the largest kingdom in the continent. In the world of Wyraë (The world that the story took place in), the main world which are made out of 5 major kingdoms with few minors, the Demon King Continent, the Elven lands and the fable land. Beyond the kingdoms surrounds a large rocky canyons and an enormous iceberg at east and west respectively, dry land at north and a huge whirlpool at south. Those serve as if protecting the world from outer things beyond out there.
They would encounter a few towns on the way. Raye kept the map inside their bag that Al carries (the others were kept in Will's shadow) throughout their whole journey and headed towards northeast. The Kingdom of Ferria is separated into two parts, west and east. The Everlight are at west whereas the royal city and palace are located in the east which is far away from their current location. They would need to cross a volcanic mountains belt which separates the west and the east to reach to the east and to the royal city and palace.
Before going to the east, they need to receive alliance from the largest dwarf clan which is the Doreinberg clan which resides near the volcanic mountains belt. Despite the Kingdom of Ferria having one king, they do not have controls all over the dwarves so in order to receive help from the dwarves for their raw strength, they would need to visit the Doreinberg clan, the largest clan among the other dwarves clan in the Kingdom of Ferria and receive the blessing from their leader. (Side note: Only the west side of the Kingdom of Ferria are known as the land of dwarves, the east side are usually resides by human)
During their journey, they had visited a small town that has was famous for their folktale and its reputation.
"How we may be service to you fellas?"
An old lady greeted the Everlight party. She must be the town head. Given the hospitality, this town must lived up to its reputation as it's said, thought Will as the town head led them into a small house that was empty for quite the time given the dust.
"Thank you very much, here's ten silver coins for the night,"
"No worry, take it as a welcoming hospitality for you, hope you enjoy your stay here,"
Raye kept back the bag of coins and thanked her once again. After that, they decided to visit the town to see if there is anything to do. The sound of joy ripples in the air as children playing around, running. Though the town folks were mostly elderly people. The Everlight decides the rest under a tree with the sounds of joy still rippling in the air. Al took a quick smoke while Raye and Amethia chatted together. Will had just finished the book he bought from a small book store in the Kingdom of Sahhara and closed it, revealing the cover in the sun.
"Ah,'CHRONICLES OF ARZHUR', a great book you have there,"
An old man behind the trees suddenly spoke, startling the mage.
"You know about this book?"
"Yes, in fact, the author of that book was raised here!"
"That's interesting,"
"That book was inspired by our folktale you know?"
"Was it about the Great King Arthur?"
Raye suddenly mentioned an ancient king named Arthur.
"Yes, long ago, it was said that a king from another world was summoned to this world, it happened to be our kingdom that the summoning was practiced in, back then, summoning ritual are quite common made by the royals to help them for certain issues and moreover to defeat the Demon King, though none of them succeeded, now it's banned since one royal back then protested that they are basically stealing people from their homeland and forcing them to do their deeds,"
Summoning ritual huh, I heard that before, Will thought while the old man continued.
"Anyway, the Great King Arthur, or known as Arthur Pendragon, was so happened to be summoned on this very land, he helped the royals to settle a terrorizing beast that has been here for a few years but refuses to fight against the Demon King, he stayed here for a while, helping the folks of this very town, making his fame grow larger in this part, the sword technique known as 'EXCALIBUR' was the name of the sword he had with him throughout his journey here in fact! Probably was a way to honor that great king, he was the very first otherworlder that managed to leave our world and returned back to theirs, this became a folk tale passed down from generations to generations until now,"
The Everlight listened to the old man in all ears. Will then looked at the book and asked him a question.
"Then, the events that happened in this book are all real?"
"Not all of it, many authors who were inspired by Great King Arthur wrote many tales of him to make him more heroic in a sense, despite this, from what we know the gender of that king wasn't documented in the tale that was passed down to us, which resulted to many other novels that featured Arthur as a woman, that said, Great King Arthur was a great man, I wish I met him in person..."
"..."
Will looked at the old man then at the book. Suddenly, a lindwurm appeared behind the bushes. Raye drew out his sword and raised his left hand to signal the old man to stand back. Amethia took out her staff and Will just stepped forward. The lindwurm was metallic, making sword useless against it.
lindwurms are a species of dragon that only have two legs and no wings. It has a serpentine body, making it slick and quick for movement.
The lindwurm stood up with its two legs and ran towards Raye. Raye blocked it with his sword as Amethia casted a flame spell on it.
"El Flamme!"
Will ran to the opposite side of Amethia and did the same. The flames covers the lindwurm from both sides but it just swings its tail, removing the flame. The flame seems to deal less damage to it, just leaving a few burn. It roared and ran towards Amethia and swings its tails. Amethia managed to leaped backward from her experience in the dungeon and casted a flame spell again. Will jumped above and casted a flame spell too. The lindwurm managed to escaped in time and dashed towards Raye. It tried to chomp Raye but he used his sword to stopped his mouth from biting it down. Raye kicked it, making it removed its mouth from the sword and he dashes towards the lindwurm.
"I will buy you some time!"
While Raye distracted the lindwurm. Will and Amethia charged up for another flame spell and when Raye leaped backward, the flame caught on the lindwurm, burning and sending it onto the ground.
"Looks like it's over..."
Unfortunately, the lindwurm stood back up and roared. Though this time there were more burn marks and the steel at the neck is a bit melted. Raye quickly notices and signaled Al to distract it. Al walked forward and pointed his mini staff at the lindwurm. It roared and dashed towards Al.
"Blinding light!"
The tip of the mini staff casted a ray of light that was enough to flash the lindwurm, making it disoriented and step a few feet back. Seizing this chance, Raye ran next to the lindwurm where the melted mark as slashes his sword down, slaying the lindwurm.
"EXCALIBUR!"
A ray of light that covers the blade of the sword, swings down creating a blast of light. The old man who was watching from the tree saw the scene and realized something. It never occurred to him before but seeing it right now, his wish was fulfilled.
"Looks like I had seen him..."
Raye wiped off his sweat and resheathed his sword.
"Are you guys alright?"
"We're fine,"
"Thank you, hero,"
"Don't mind it,"
The sun had just set right then. The Everlight then bid goodbye and returned back to their dorm. The next day, they left and continued towards northeast.
