The City Lord opened his eyes again and looked at Lily. He thought for a few seconds before he said in serious tone,
"Enough is enough."
Lily blinked.
"What?"
"You are coming home with me."
Her hand, which was still holding Sekhmet's, tightened slightly.
"Father, I... Can't... Not now."
"No excuses."
The City Lord raised one hand before she could begin arguing.
"I am not asking you to leave Sekhmet. You already married him without asking me, so apparently that decision has been made."
Lily lowered her eyes for a moment.
The City Lord looked at their joined hands again and felt another small wave of irritation.
His daughter had grown up.
He knew that.
He had always known there would eventually be a day when she chose someone and built her own life.
Knowing it would happen and watching her sit beside another man while holding his hand were apparently two completely different experiences.
The City Lord looked away.
