Chapter 168 - Chapter 168 - Star Platinum: Over Heaven

---o---

Reality Overwriting.

DIO's ability is Reality Overwriting?

It is the power to forcibly change the laws of nature, to make thoughts reality, to overwrite 'existence' itself.

Otto Apocalypse: "Overwriting reality, rewriting existence, making thoughts reality... is this not similar to Elysia's Authority of Origin?"

The Authority of the Herrscher of Origin, in essence, is also the rewriting of the rules of the real world, a different form of making thoughts reality. And the ability of The World: Over Heaven, although it's unclear to what extent it can overwrite, is undoubtedly an Authority similar to that of the Herrscher of Origin.

Detective Conan: "This isn't scientific! What on earth did DIO do? This power-up is even more astonishing than Kars's."

Yukino Yukinoshita: "Jotaro... how can he possibly defeat such an opponent?"

Aizen Sosuke: "Reality Overwriting. To turn what one thinks into reality. If this ability has no limits, then DIO has already become a true god."

Noriaki Kakyoin: "The World: Over Heaven... this ability is beyond my comprehension. Jotaro... you must be careful!"

Light Curtain

With the true ability of The World: Over Heaven revealed, the reason for DIO's absolute confidence was clear.

Honestly, anyone who controlled a bug-level ability like reality overwriting would be fearless.

It's no wonder DIO said that time stop had become meaningless. Setting aside the fact that he still possessed the ability, with reality overwriting alone, he could easily ignore Star Platinum's time stop.

"Truth? Jotaro... what are you talking about? Have you figured out how to defeat DIO?"

The members of the Demon Slayer Corps at his side did not yet understand Jotaro's words. For people of this era, they couldn't comprehend the true power of The World: Over Heaven based on Jotaro's statement alone. But they could see from the fine sweat on Jotaro's brow and his clenched jaw just how powerful DIO had become.

To be able to make the invincible Star Platinum and Jotaro suffer so... the demon named DIO had clearly surpassed Muzan by an immense margin.

"...No. If DIO's power is truly to rewrite reality, then I can't think of a way to defeat him."

After a moment of silence, Jotaro calmed himself and spoke in a low, heavy voice.

This power was simply too evil. It was almost like wish-fulfillment. In a sense, DIO had indeed become a god.

Mortals cannot defeat gods. To resist a god with a human body is nearly impossible.

Unless... unless he, like DIO, could surpass Heaven and reach a new realm.

"BOOM!!!"

A golden power surged into the sky. Several black shadows were flung through the air—each one a Demon Slayer swordsman who had already lost their life.

Severed limbs and a mist of blood filled the sky. Familiar and unfamiliar faces, figures who were alive and well just a second ago, were now nothing but cold corpses.

And DIO, the perpetrator of it all, descended from the sky like a god, a halo of golden-white light shining brilliantly behind him. Compared to the black-clad Jotaro and the generally dark-uniformed Demon Slayer Corps, he almost looked like the true hero.

Grabbing the yellow-haired boy who had sent him flying earlier, DIO showed an expression of contempt. With a slight squeeze of his hands, Zenitsu Agatsuma's body shriveled into a dried husk. A light touch from The World, and he vanished completely.

Ignoring the swarm of ants in his way, DIO's eyes were fixed only on Jotaro, who was still alive.

"Oho, still alive? You're really still alive? Your heart had already stopped, and your internal organs were crushed, yet you're still alive."

"You people of the Joestar family... you really are a tough bunch."

"It seems that to kill you, I will have to use the true power of The World: Over Heaven."

It was just as he, DIO, had expected. The Joestars always possessed inexplicable good luck and incredible vitality. For Jotaro to still be clinging to life after all that was truly beyond his expectations.

As he thought this, The World: Over Heaven manifested, suddenly appearing in Jotaro Kujo's vision and throwing a punch straight at his head.

"Star Platinum... Na... Nani?"

Facing danger, Jotaro subconsciously tried to summon Star Platinum.

However, DIO gave him no such chance. The 'overwrite' ability activated. Before Star Platinum could even appear, The World's fist was already at Jotaro's chest.

"This time, I will erase your entire 'existence'! Disappear completely, Jotaro!!"

This was no ordinary punch, but one imbued with the power to 'overwrite reality.'

DIO... he no longer wanted to see Jotaro's face. Although he had failed to drink Jotaro's blood, as long as he could safely eliminate this fated enemy, it was enough for him.

"Farewell, Jotaro."

A golden light flashed. The ability of The World: Over Heaven activated. All traces of Jotaro's existence in this world would be completely erased.

Not a simple death, but a complete and total disappearance in the truest sense. Forever and utterly gone.

As they say in Coco: "A person's true death is when they are forgotten by everyone."

And so it was for Jotaro now. When The World's ability activated, all records of Jotaro within the world of Demon Slayer would vanish completely, without leaving a single trace...

Light Curtain Barrage

Almost every viewer across the infinite multiverse couldn't help but sigh at this scene.

To completely erase Jotaro's existence... even if they didn't want to admit it, DIO had won this battle.

But it wasn't Jotaro's fault. DIO's ability was simply too broken. It was perfectly understandable that Jotaro couldn't win.

Joseph Joestar: "Hey, hey, this is no happy ending! Isn't there anyone else who can help him?"

His grandson was about to be erased from existence. Joseph couldn't describe what he was feeling right now. Subjectively, he was unwilling to accept that Jotaro would lose so easily, but the facts were laid bare. Even if it were him, Joseph, he would be completely helpless.

Lord Boros: "The difference in power is too vast. Unless a miracle occurs, the human named Jotaro has no chance of defeating DIO."

In the vastness of space, Boros spoke coldly. Surpassing Heaven... he wondered if it could overwrite his existence.

Yukino Yukinoshita: "I believe in Jotaro Kujo. He is acknowledged by the light curtain as the war god of the Joestar family. He will absolutely not die so simply."

Light Curtain

The golden light slowly faded. Jotaro, who had been standing there, was gone.

The members of the Demon Slayer Corps were still on guard against DIO, but no one mentioned Jotaro's existence anymore. Even though a living person had just vanished before their very eyes, these demon hunters had no reaction at all.

It was as if Jotaro had never existed in the first place. Clearly, DIO's ability had succeeded.

Looking at the foolish humans before him, a smile curled on DIO's lips. He looked up at the sky and declared, "My hands will surely grasp 'The Truth'!"

"Jotaro Kujo has vanished from this world forever... I, DIO, am the final victor!"

"The victor..."

Wait. Something's not right. Something feels very wrong!

DIO, in the middle of his victory speech, realized something. His expression suddenly changed, becoming one of extreme shock.

"Erased from existence. Utterly vanished. My The World: Over Heaven definitely did it. But... but why?"

Indeed, the ability of The World: Over Heaven had activated, and it had succeeded. The expressions of the Demon Slayer Corps members proved it; they had no idea that another person had just been standing here, a person they were supposed to protect.

Shinobu Kocho and Lady Tamayo, the two women who had been treating Jotaro's wounds just moments ago, were now only looking at him with wary eyes, with not a single question about the vanished Jotaro.

So... where was this sense of wrongness in DIO's heart coming from?

Thinking carefully, all traces of Jotaro's existence had been erased from everyone's memory. But there was one person, only one person, who still remembered Jotaro.

That's right. Because this person still remembered Jotaro, Jotaro had not vanished as DIO had imagined.

"I... among everyone present, only one person still remembers Jotaro. And that person... is me!"

"This DIO, in order to execute Jotaro completely, chose to erase everything about him."

"Jotaro no longer exists in this world. Everyone, including me, should have completely forgotten him!"

A hint of nervousness appeared in DIO's eyes. Suddenly, a wave of killing intent washed over him, making him spin around, an expression of utter disbelief on his face.

"Jo... Jotaro! How can this be!!" What was he seeing? How was this possible? The overwrite had definitely activated. The person known as Jotaro should no longer exist in this world!

The suddenly reappeared Jotaro Kujo stood with his hands in his pockets, showing no signs of injury. Not only that, but even the holes in his school uniform had been repaired. It was as if he had been reset to his default state. The only thing that hadn't changed was the intense killing intent directed at DIO.

"I've come back from hell, DIO!"

The gaze under the brim of his cap was so powerful and determined that even DIO couldn't help but tremble. He took half a step back, his eyes wide as if he had seen a ghost. "Still alive... how is Jotaro still alive!"

This was the second time... no, the third time. Could it be that the Joestar family truly possessed an immortality even greater than that of a vampire? Otherwise, how could they stand in his way again, and again, and again?

"The fight is just getting started, DIO!"

"ORA!!!"

Star Platinum appeared once more, the massive wave of purple aura stunning the audience outside the light curtain.

"That... is a Stand?"

They could see it. Not just the audience, but because of Star Platinum's immense power, even the non-Stand users of the Demon Slayer Corps could finally see it with their own eyes.

At the same time, the moment Star Platinum and Jotaro appeared, their erased memories of Jotaro were restored. However, they themselves were completely unaware of this, having no memory of either the loss or the recovery...

"What!" Star Platinum's fist smashed into The World: Over Heaven, forcing DIO himself to take several steps back.

It had gotten stronger again. Star Platinum's power had grown once more. That immense Stand power was no illusion.

"What! What, what!? What's happening?" DIO couldn't believe it. He subconsciously wiped the corner of his mouth. A trickle of blood was flowing down.

He was injured. He had actually been injured by a single punch from Star Platinum.

Although it was an injury he could heal with a wave of his hand, DIO was exceptionally shocked and enraged. But soon... his anger faded.

He saw that Jotaro was now exuding an aura that was incredibly familiar to DIO, an aura so familiar it filled him with a terrifying sense of panic. "This is... Over Heaven!!"

"In the final moments, just as I was about to lose consciousness, I overwrote the reality you overwrote."

"That was a close call. I almost really died, DIO!"

Now it was Jotaro's turn. He adjusted his hat and looked up at the clench-fisted DIO.

"Star Platinum and The World are the same type of Stand!"

That sentence echoed in DIO's mind. He was completely stunned, unable to recover for a long time.

Was this also fate? Why did it have to be Star Platinum? Why did it have to be a member of the Joestar family?

So... he had been a slave to fate all along.

"Heheheh, hahaha... HAHAHAHAHA!!!"

Perhaps unable to accept that the Heaven he had so desperately sought had been mercilessly copied by Star Platinum, DIO began to laugh maniacally.

Jotaro Kujo was his nemesis. As long as Jotaro existed, he, DIO, would never find true peace of mind.

A hint of resignation appeared in DIO's eyes, the sorrow of a man who could not escape his fate. Indeed, fate had never said that only he, DIO, could surpass Heaven and reach "The Truth."

However, he, DIO, would not allow a second Over Heaven to exist, especially if that person was a Joestar.

"Hmph!" Recalling his Stand, DIO crossed his arms. "Very well, Jotaro. Then let's see whose 'Truth' is superior!"

Author's note:

ps: Actually, according to the game's setting and plot, Star Platinum didn't achieve Over Heaven for no reason. During Jotaro's quest to hunt down DIO and collect the Saint's Corpse Parts, he had already met the conditions for evolution. Therefore, the "Star Platinum Printer" is more of a meme. Here, because the author had already changed the conditions for DIO's ascension to Heaven, I also modified Jotaro's. In the end, it can mostly be attributed to fate.
