Chapter 3 - Tenshou

Night came quietly.

Tokyo's lights bled through the curtains, painting the room in pale orange shadows. Michi sat near the window, knees drawn up, staring at a world that felt both foreign and familiar.

Cars passed.

People laughed somewhere far away.

Life continued ignorant.

"How long are you planning to stare like that?" Shuzaku asked from behind him.

He didn't turn.

"I don't understand this world," Michi said. "Yet my body reacts to it as if it remembers."

She leaned against the wall, arms crossed. "You talk like someone much older than you look."

"Am I?" he asked.

She didn't answer.

Silence stretched between them, but it wasn't uncomfortable. If anything, it felt… practiced. Like this wasn't the first time they had shared quiet together only the first time he remembered.

Outside, clouds slowly swallowed the moon.

That's when it happened.

A pressure.

Not physical.

Not emotional.

Existential.

Michi's breath hitched.

The air in the room grew heavy, bending inward as if something unseen had stepped closer not to the apartment, not to Tokyo

To him.

Far above the human world, beyond the sky the gods once shaped with careless hands, something ancient opened its eyes.

A throne of stone cracked with age.

A presence stirred.

"So… you've awakened," a voice echoed, deep and amused. "Without your name. Without your memories."

Golden eyes looked down upon the world.

"Izanagi's greatest mistake walks again."

Back in the apartment, Michi suddenly stood up.

Shuzaku flinched. "Hey what's wrong?"

He pressed a hand to his chest.

His heartbeat was wrong.

Too slow.

Too controlled.

"I feel… watched," he said.

Across the city, thunder rumbled despite the clear forecast.

Shuzaku laughed nervously. "You're really not helping the 'god' theory."

Michi turned to her, eyes sharp for the first time.

"If I am a god," he said quietly, "then why was I forgotten?"

The room trembled.

Just a little.

Enough to rattle the window.

Shuzaku froze.

"…Michi?"

But he was no longer looking at her.

He was looking through the sky.

Somewhere beyond the heavens, the golden-eyed god smiled wider.

"Struggle," the god whispered. "Remember. Suffer."

"Because when you finally recall your name "

The thunder roared.

Michi staggered back, gripping his head as another fragment tore through him.

A battlefield.

Gods screaming.

A name ripped from existence.

" the heavens will burn to hear it spoken again."

Michi fell to his knees.

Shuzaku rushed to him, holding his shoulders. "Hey! Stay with me!"

He looked up at her, breathing hard.

"I don't know who I was," he said.

"But whoever erased me…"

His eyes darkened.

"…made a mistake."

Far above, the forgotten sky cracked.

And the gods began to notice.
