King's Landing, inside the Red Keep.
Tyrion Lannister had curly brownish-gold hair covering his forehead. He wore soft leather clothes embroidered with a roaring lion. He was just over a meter tall, with a large head and a small body. His forehead stuck out, and he walked in a strange, uneven way.
"Hey, brother, didn't you see me? Where are you going? Did my lovely big sister make you her personal messenger?"
Jaime Lannister shrugged and slowed down.
Tyrion caught up to Jaime. "Jaime, you should learn to come to me. My most important job as a Lannister is to stand next to you. I make you look big and strong just by being there."
Jaime sighed helplessly. "Okay, you win. I will tell you. I am indeed going to deliver a letter."
Tyrion immediately smiled. "Is my lonely sister finally looking for a lover? Quick, let me see."
The corner of Jaime's mouth twitched. He held up the letter. "Sorry, it is already sealed with wax."
Jaime moved his hand, dodging Tyrion who was going to grab the letter. "It is not a secret. I can tell you what is inside."
"Oh? Then I guessed wrong."
"Don't always think badly of Cersei," Jaime said. "She's your sister."
"Oh? Should I expect her to kiss my cheek? That'll only happen if the Seven fall asleep."
"Tyrion, don't disrespect the Seven."
"The Seven are old. They won't care what I say."
Tyrion slapped Jaime's thigh. "So? Speak."
"It is for a Minor Lord from Crackclaw Point. Cersei plans to take him along on the Royal Hunt in Kingswood."
"That is surprising news. Is our old sister in a good mood?"
"The Baron wrote to her first. That kid is a flatterer."
"Haha, Jaime, you seem to dislike this Baron. Are you afraid he will steal our sister's love away from you?"
"For once, you two agree," Jaime said. "But I'm not that petty. Young men should focus on sword, not flattery."
"Then that's perfect," Tyrion replied. "As a Kingsguard, you can teach him a lesson. Call it guidance for his growth."
Tyrion paused, then added, "Brother, Crackclaw Point is a poor, forgotten place. You're a Lannister. You'll never understand what it feels like to lack coin. When your belly is empty, who has the mood to swing a sword? The lords of Crackclaw Point have always sworn loyalty directly to the queen. It's an old family habit."
"This is a good thing," Tyrion continued. "At least the little baron isn't stupid. He knows the Lannisters have money."
Jaime looked slightly embarrassed. "All your logic makes sense. I'm better suited to running errands."

Three days later.
The Whispers Castle, inside the bow workshop.
Glyn picked up a finished longbow from a wooden table. It was about 2 meters long. He pulled the string to test the weight... It was about 110 to 120 pounds.
To survive, most people in the Crabb territory had to farm and hunt. Most of them knew how to use a bow and arrow. This draw weight was good for beginners and easy to get used to.
With proper training, the long-term plan was to increase the weight to 130 pounds, then 150 pounds.
This longbow was copied from the English Longbow in his past life's memories. The way to make it was simple, and it could shoot very far.
Hunting was an important way to survive in the territory, so there was always a steady supply of bow-making materials.
"My lord, I can make three bows a day now."
"Me too!"
"I can as well."
The people answering Glyn were woodworkers. There were about ten of them, and their original job was making bows.
Glyn originally planned to split the bow-making process into different parts. He wanted to set up a simple production line to be faster.
However, Glyn later took back that idea. The first problem was that he had no managers for a factory. Without proper supervision, both the quality and speed would drop.
The demand for longbows would not jump up suddenly in the short term. The current speed was enough. So, he decided to let them keep using their traditional method. Since the craftsmen worked together in one place, they could see each other's speed just by looking up. This created a little competition, which was a small step forward.
Glyn warned himself not to go too far. He needed to take things step by step. If he took too big a step, he might hurt himself.
Overall, Glyn was satisfied. He picked up a few more longbows to test them and gave instructions on some details.
Glyn announced to everyone that the bow would be named the Crabb Longbow.
–
Ser Pell was very famous in the territory, so he finished his task quickly.
The 100-man Recon Corps had already started simple formation training.
Most soldiers in the Recon Corps came from hunter families. They brought their own bows and short swords.
This fit perfectly with Glyn's plan. The standard weapons for the Recon Corps were a short bow and a short sword.
Glyn defined the Recon Corps as mountain light infantry wearing leather armor. Their main job was scouting and surprise attacks.
Because the simple and honest soldiers brought their own weapons, it saved a lot of pressure on the Whispers Castle armory, which was not very rich.
However, Glyn found that the arrows the hunters brought were not good. Most were made by the hunters themselves, so the quality was all over the place.
The arrowheads were not deadly enough. Therefore, the main task for the Whispers Castle blacksmith was now to focus on making high-quality arrowheads.
Glyn felt like the work never ended.
First, helmets were a problem.
There were definitely no spare helmets in the armory. Equipment for the 200 clan soldiers of the Crabb territory had already emptied the warehouse.
Glyn thought of the head wraps popular with pirates.
The warehouse had a lot of grey hemp cloth. They cut it into the size of towels and wrapped it around their heads to serve as temporary military caps.
When 100 men all wore grey hemp head wraps, they looked a bit like a real regular army.
[Recon Corps Cohesion +1]
Next was armor.
In the future, Glyn's goal for the Recon Corps was a full set of chainmail with leather armor on top.
Right now, that goal was too far away.
The warehouse at Whispers Castle had plenty of leather, but almost all of it was soft leather. There was only a small amount of hard leather.
The main material for making leather armor is hard leather.
To ensure basic protection for every soldier in the Recon Corps, Glyn mobilized everyone in the city who was not busy to help make leather armor.
Time was tight, so they had to give up on details and good looks.
They cut the leather, punched holes, and tied straps. A simple set of leather armor was done.
Emparo's Thorn Corps could not be ignored either. As a Lord, Glyn could not favor one group over another.
But if they did it the normal way, there definitely wasn't enough hard leather.
Glyn thought for a while and made a final decision. The new leather armor for the Crabb territory would have no back plate. It would only have the front plate to protect the chest and stomach.
This way, they could make twice as much armor, which was just enough to equip the Thorn Corps.
Does the back not need protection?
If you are always facing the enemy, do you need to worry about your back?
Glyn temporarily added a new motto to his family words: Death Before Turning Back.
