Chapter 37 - Being Human -> Cruising in the city of the dead.

Frank and Berry exited the camp by jumping over the iron gate that separated the city from the servant's camp.

Frank was dumbfounded at how easily they had escaped from that place that he asked:

[Are there no surveillance cameras on the wall viewing the gate.]

Berry asked with a curious face:

[What are surveillance cameras?]

Frank was confused for a moment before he realized that he was in another world and they didn't use modern technology for everyday life so he asked if there wasn't any system to notify the master of the castle that they left the camp through the gate.

Berry finally showed that he understood before saying:

[There are runes around the gate that is why we had to jump high enough in a specific direction, anywhere else and we would be escorted by the guards to meet the master of the house or worse yet the elders.]

[Now would you keep shut and let us continue to the home of my friend?]

As they walked Frank shot glances at the wierd things he saw, some buildings had their foundations on the ground and were constructed like normal human homes but the skeleton that lived there didn't live at the floor of the house instead they constructed hovering stairs were constructed to a building that laid above the floor of the house.

It seemed they didn't want anything to do with the floor, Frank wanted to ask why from Berry, but after he heard Berry's words that he should shut up and the way Berry looked at him when he was about to talk either way, he chose to keep his mouth shut and started looking at other fascinating things.

Frank had always knew the soul beings were smart and technologically advanced although they didn't use technology for their every day needs, they seemed to value the concept by creating runes that did the same work technologically advanced machines did or they created runes that did the work better.

Frank was admiring their mode of transportation, although there was nothing reminiscent to a cab driver or a subway station there were other interesting things, he noticed that most of the people that were walking on the road were either weak soul beings or low level soul beings sometimes he met a few high level soul beings but they were mostly those who had just gained that class.

The other beings on the road were the ones who had attained higher classes like High level soul being, who rode large mecha robot skeletons dogs, Advanced soul beings, most of them were skeleton knights who rode mecha robot skeletons horses which symbolized resilience and speed and ofcourse they were more faster than the dogs, at their normal speed they ran faster than the max speed of a Toyota Prius (180km/h) on earth, the skeleton liches had robo-skeletal birds which looked like Griffins, they were not as highly resilient as the skeletal horses but they replaced stamina or whatever the robot horses had for stamina with magic and flight, they were as fast as an airplane that had fully risen to the air.

But most of the skeleton liches he saw, moved on their own on air and that was the also the same with the apprentice shinigami, he could hardly recognize them or even find them because they were so few and they had a aura around them that made people often avoid them or taste the dreadful thing hidden within the aura, he couldn't say what mode of transportation they used to move, all he knew was that they moved.

The apprentice soul vampire were by far the fastest he could hardly see them, but he could sense them, he didn't think other beings could even sense them, Frank had a feeling it was partly because he had been meditating for the past few days and that the recent rank up of his Meditation skill also contributed to the sensation he received when he felt the outer worldly and transcendent being pass him.

The highly advanced beings were not that common even the death knights he had read about in the books in the library was so rare that he didn't see a single one throughout their journey along the street the same could be said for Soul Vampires, he didn't even think these beings existed because even reaching the power of a skeleton knight and lich was already transcendent, he shuddered to think what would those beings would be called and the same could be said about the Grandmaster soul beings.

He was extremely fortunate to have felt the presence of two apprentice shinigamis "crossing the road" and merely feeling their presence almost made him puke.

He observed the secular buildings they encountered on the way to the home of Berry's friend, he saw large buildings that looked like skyscrapers but without the glass and windows just raw metal and blocks that were moulded to form a industrial building floating softly along the horizon, next was the marketplace, Frank wondered what currency they used to acquire treatment in this place, but he couldn't find out because he and Berry were maintaining a path on the road despite the foot traffic.

He also noticed something that could hint at where Berry's friend worked, he noticed most of the soul beings that were the head of the industrial companies or marketing companies or any other company was a High class soul being, so therefore Berry's friend that he had not even given any thought to, was also a high class soul being and was probably the head of the company he worked.

Frank's face changed since he had a bad history with authority figures, starting from his foster parents, his caregiver in the orphanage home, his teachers in school to the warden in the prison he stayed for a year and the gang leaders he was a victim to, his relationship with them was morbid and he felt the urgent need to runaway from the road and the city and the world.

Berry and Frank soon arrived at the industry his friend worked, they walked past many officials, servants and workers that were managing the company until the came across a door that had the word CEO engraved on it. Berry knocked the door twice and turned the knob on the door to enter.
