Cherreads

Chapter 14 - 14

Well scratch that.

I couldn't sleep a wink last night now my alarm is blaring.

What a nice way to get up.

Dragging myself out of bed, I took a slow and nice shower since it was still 5:30.

Putting on my uniform, I applied slight make up.

Just a tiny touch of gloss and eyeliner with a scrub of blush on my cheeks.

I still couldn't shake off this new environment's awkward off- ish feeling.

At least I spent the entire weekend with mum and dad.

As I took my bag, a knock was heard at my door.

Walking towards it as I expected, Samantha stood there smiling wide.

'Who smiles like this at 6:40 in the morning.'

"That would be me."

'Oh I said that out loud?'

"Yes, yes you did. Enough of that, are you done dressing up? I wanna show you around more, since class starts by 08:00."

She walked into the room and sat straight on my bed.

"What do you say?"

I hadn't realized I spaced out for a moment.

"Yeah sure. We have some time left, as long as we're not late though."

Making sure the door was locked, we made our way towards the gardens.

From what Samantha had told me.

This school never ceases to amaze me.

I was in awe as I saw this huge garden.

And let me say this .

It was the most beautiful garden I had ever seen.

The textured bright green field with colourful flowers at the edges of the field and a big empty space in the middle with only an intricately designed swing decorated with flowers and the seat chains had flower petals on them.

"This place is beautiful."

"Yeah, I come here most of the time just to y'know…" she shrugged.

Sighing she glanced at her phone.

"It's time we head to class or we would be late." She said as we walked out of the garden.

I pouted as I realized I didn't even get to touch any of the flowers.

Maybe next time.

The distance between the garden and the school dorm isn't quite close.

And also the distance from there to the main school building.

I didn't know how I was staggering and gasping when we finally reached the school whereas Samantha was just there.

I'm surely gonna lose more weight with only this walk everyday.

"Girl why aren't you tired or something? And why didn't you tell me about the freaking distance too!?"

I asked as we walked to our first class.

Samantha just laughed as we entered and took a seat waiting for the professor.

"Well fitness is one of the essential things the school needs from its students and it wasn't even that far, maybe you need to lose some weight." She teased, nudging my shoulder while smirking.

"No thank you, I need these babies with me or I would be flat." I exaggerated by holding my waist and ass, slightly smacking it, resulting in her playfully rolling her eyes and laughing.

Not quite long after, the professor walked into the class.

"How did you possibly survive that?!" I asked bewildered as I took a gulp of milk.

"If you aren't strong enough, that's on you." She shrugged, taking a huge bite from her sandwich.

We were outside school, at a small eatery Samantha introduced me to.

The place looked homely and had this sweet aroma to it.

I was really impressed.

We both made our orders before taking out seat.

Classes had ended, so we decided to stroll around and just decided to eat some snacks.

She was filling me up on the training days mandated by the school authority to enable all the students to be strong and not defenseless.

"Wow, this school literally wants us killed then, how can they pair me up with someone probably able to break my bones? Or worse…"

"Calm down Freya. Nobody's gonna break any bones…not sure of that though, but–

"What do you mean by that?!" Right now, my sandwich has already been forgotten and I'm sure my eyes are blown wide.

"It's to protect us against the wicked world. The world isn't a nice place either." She shrugged, taking a bigger bite from her sandwich this time.

I slumped into my seat more. Maybe I really miss home more now.

"Don't worry, none of that will happen to you. Once they know your strength and limit, you will be paired immediately with someone the same as you."

She tried soothing me with her words ,but I don't think I'm ready for any training right now.

I literally feel like my lungs get compressed anytime I run, talk more of fighting.

"When is the next practice then?"

"Thursday."

Great.

"Don't be terrified yet, I promise you are gonna love it." Samantha said as we paid the bill and left.

' I can't wait '

Beneath, I could already feel my insides twitching.
