It's been a few days, and school seems to have returned to normal. The IT guy is back at work. Both he and the other new employees who were under intense scrutiny in recent days have received an apology.
I was also officially thanked by the principal and the police. There was a brief, awkward moment where I had to be in the spotlight, something completely out of character for me. I always wanted to stay out of this whole affair, but it was my powers of observation that drew me in. Even though so many children wanted to solve the case, and everyone was gossiping, I simply kept my mouth shut and kept my eyes open.
My mentor also approached me. "You're incredibly good at this observation; I never really realized it. Maybe you should do something with it."
Two weeks have passed, and today I'm back in the same class I was in two weeks ago. History class is about to begin, but this time I decide not to skip it but to just go to class. Who knows what will happen next? Because sometimes you shouldn't stand on the sidelines.
