Chapter 34 - Chapter 103 Apology

Thinking of Tang San, the Asura God King's thoughts drifted to the Douluo Continent.

  The City of Slaughter.

Like other cities, this special City of Slaughter also had an underground city. The difference was that soul power was sealed within the City of Slaughter; the King of Slaughter alone could suppress all soul masters, and in fact, he did just that.

The moment the underground city appeared, the King of Slaughter learned of it. The few lucky ones who mistakenly entered the underground city were sent to the slaughter arena, leaving no survivors.

Afterwards, the King of Slaughter forbade everyone from approaching the entrance to the underground city, and leveled up alone within it.

The King of Slaughter's weapon, called the Asura Blood Sword, was the Asura God King's divine artifact, housing his divine will.

On this day, the Asura God King remembered his forgotten predecessor.

On the dimly lit throne, permeated with the stench of blood, the crimson longsword beside the King of Slaughter trembled slightly, a flash of crimson light appearing. The Asura God, using the divine artifact to observe the outside world, immediately detected the 100,000-year-old soul beast parasitizing within the King of Slaughter:

the Dark Gold Nine-Headed Bat King.

Amidst the turmoil sweeping across the Douluo Continent, the Asura God, unwilling to intervene, did not intend to expel the Dark Gold Nine-Headed Bat King from the King of Slaughter. Instead, he used the Asura Blood Sword to stabilize the King of Slaughter's human side.

"Gather more villains, stockpile enough villainous blood, explore the dungeon,"

the Asura God commanded. The King of Slaughter, in a daze, murmured, "Villains, blood, dungeon."

Having done all this, the Asura God's divine sense once again fell silent.

At the same time, the battle within Notting Academy finally came to a conclusion.

With the support of eternal energy, as long as Lin Bai's meridians held up, he would never lack soul power and mental energy. After an hour of fierce fighting, both Qian Renxue and the Serpent Spear Douluo were panting heavily, their limbs weak. Most importantly, Qian Renxue's soul power and mana were almost depleted. After all, her Title Douluo combat power relied on the enhancement of her set, and energy was ultimately her weakness.

At the last moment, Qian Renxue still couldn't believe it. Her eyes widened as she glared at Lin Bai: "Your cultivation is a three-ring Soul Master, how could your soul power last this long!"

Lin Bai shrugged: "Do you think I would tell you, Qian Renxue? I won't make things difficult for you. Leave behind your equipment other than the set as an apology, and I'll let you go. Otherwise, I'll kill you here, and even the Spirit Hall won't be able to protect you."

As he said this, Lin Bai met Qian Renxue's gaze. It was clear at a glance that he was serious. Even a clay figure has some temper, let alone Lin Bai, who was not one to swallow his anger.

  "Don't even think about it!"

Qian Renxue's chest heaved with anger as she gasped for breath, her golden armor outlining her beautiful curves.

Lin Bai, without glancing at her, shook his head slightly. "Put aside that pathetic pride. Think of your father whose soul was devoured, Qian Renxue. You don't want Qian Xunji to die with his eyes open in disbelief, do you?"

Qian Renxue already had the intention to back down, but she couldn't bring herself to do it. Out of the corner of her eye,

she saw that the Porcupine Douluo was still being held back by Gu Yuena, and her heart sank. She knew that if she wanted to escape unscathed, she would have to pay a price. The Porcupine Douluo was filled with anxiety, but he couldn't break through Gu Yuena's elemental blockade. He could only watch helplessly as Qian Renxue was trapped in her predicament.

Qian Renxue took a deep breath, calmed herself, and slowly said, "I agree."

Equipment was just equipment; she could get it back. But she only had one life. Before taking revenge on Bibi Dong, she couldn't die. Besides, Lin Bai knew his limits and hadn't asked for her most precious set of Light armor, so there was room for negotiation.

Of course, Qian Renxue wouldn't obediently hand over all her equipment, and Lin Bai knew this too. As long as the equipment she handed over was valuable enough, Lin Bai would naturally let her go.

Qian Renxue rummaged through her spatial backpack, piecing together a set of equipment, half blue and half purple, and tossed it on the ground. "This is the equipment I used before, four pieces purple and four pieces blue, all requiring level 50 or higher. Here you go."

Lin Bai picked up the equipment with his telekinesis, checking its attributes to confirm it was exactly as Qian Renxue described. The only drawback was that his level wasn't high enough, so he couldn't use it yet.

"You can leave now. Remember, if you come looking for trouble again, I won't let you off so easily."

Lin Bai didn't care much about the equipment; it wasn't a set, and the added attributes were nothing compared to those gained from leveling up. It was enough for him.

Qian Renxue gave Lin Bai a deep look. "Let's go!"

She and the Serpent Spear Douluo soared into the sky, flying out of Notting Academy. This time, Gu Yuena didn't stop the Porcupine Douluo, letting him fly away with them.

Once they were far away, Gu Yuena reverted to her human form, gazing at the azure sky, and said meaningfully, "Your strength has improved rapidly. Is that why you're unwilling to trade with me?"

She assumed Lin Bai's rapid progress was due to his cultivation using the Time-Space Godhead.

Unfortunately, his cultivation level wasn't high enough, so Lin Bai couldn't use a divine spark like her for the time being.

"It seems you guessed it. Then stop testing me. I won't trade with you. Besides, if I'm not mistaken, our items aren't the same at all. It'll be very difficult to collect a complete set. Let's talk about trading again if we encounter parts we both need in the future."

Lin Bai smiled easily, stretched, and yawned. The intense battle had left his muscles trembling, and the increased absorption of sunlight energy, even his breathing, felt wonderful.

  "You're very ambitious,"

Gu Yuena honestly commented, but didn't reject Lin Bai's suggestion. Judging from the two fragments of the Wisdom Divine Spark she obtained, the Wisdom Divine Spark was at least broken into six pieces. With Lin Bai's talent and potential, he might actually have a chance to find one.

"I just want to live a more carefree life, that's not ambition,"

Lin Bai said sincerely. Gu Yuena turned her head, gave Lin Bai a strange look, and didn't answer.

The arena fell silent for a moment, then hurried footsteps echoed in the distance.

Flander, Tang San, and the others rushed over, only to find the garden a scene of utter devastation. All the Blue Silver Grass had been shredded into pieces during the battle, mixed with the mud. Some of the structures and landscaping had also been destroyed, leaving no trace.

  "What happened here? An earthquake?"

Ma Hongjun asked in surprise. Lin Bai hadn't deliberately concealed his psychic storm's attack range, so they couldn't discern any specific traces.

"It wasn't an earthquake. It was our enemies who occupied Gu Yuena's hometown. They seemed to be from the Spirit Hall, but we've already dealt with them. However, just to be safe, we might need to leave Notting Academy as soon as possible,"

Lin Bai casually offered an excuse.

Gu Yuena stiffened slightly, mechanically turning her head to stare blankly at Lin Bai.

But Lin Bai showed no embarrassment, transmitting his voice secretly: "Use your excuse. Don't be shy. The Spirit Hall is the biggest villain in the Soul Master world. Just pin any blame on them."
