Chapter 19 - Behind the Mask 2

They arrived at the party. Muggle music that had strange laughter in it poured out into the silent night when the door was opened. Draco looked around in stunned disbelief at seeing how closely dressed they were to the muggles. There were pirates with stuffed birds on their shoulders, soothsayers, ridiculously dressed witches and sexy witches, werewolves, cats, chickens, and costumes with an array of colors and bells on them. It was a strange sight indeed.

Pansy narrowed her eyes and licked her lips as she spotted her prey. Standing in the corner alone, was a boy with black hair that blended nicely with his outfit. The boy was dressed in a two piece costume that clung to his body and strapped to his hips was a belt with throwing stars in it. "See ya!" Pansy finger-waved to them as she took off.

"Great idea." Blaise left right after her and headed straight for a redheaded girl who was dancing in the middle of the living room. Her long red hair swept over her bare shoulders as her hips swayed to the music. Her blue eyes sparkled brightly with the help of the silver sparkles dusting her face. The black dress that she wore stopped short of her knees and the heels that she wore made her legs stand out.

The girl looked oddly familiar to him. But the only redheaded girl that Draco knew was Weaslette. He did a quick double take. Was that Weaslette?

He turned to ask Crabbe and Goyle what they thought but they were already gone. He found the two pig heads stuffing their faces on the other side of the room. Great, he was alone.

. . . .

Ginny let her body move to the music. A couple of guys and even a girl had come up to dance with her but moved on after a while. Nobody could keep up with her nor could they hold her attention for long enough.

"Ah, my little minx." A firm and tall body slid up to hers, perfectly matching her rythm.

The boy had long black, curly hair with a pirate hat on top. An eye patch covered one eye and a fake mustache and goatee covered his handsome face. Riding on his shoulder was a stuffed bird.

He snaked his hands on to her hips. Heat radiated through his touch sending shivers down her back. She arched one leg up and wrapped it around his hip, bringing them closer together.

The boy leaned forward, diminishing the distance between them until there was almost nothing left. "Aggressive and fiery. Me likey."

His voice was deep and husky, sending a fire to the pit of her stomach. She placed a slender finger against his lips. "Don't talk." That voice of his was dangerous.

He smirked and closed the distance between them. His surprisingly soft lips captured hers. She opened her mouth to let him taste her. His hair tickled and grazed her skin. This was the spark that she had been looking for. The spark that Harry did not have.

. . . . .

Harry stood in the corner, alone. Why did he even want to come? It's not like he ever went to parties before, only when he had been forced to go with Dudley, which wasn't often.

A headache was forming as the music pounded into his skull. He really hated parties.

"Watcha doing all by your lonesome self?" Purred an alluring voice.

Harry looked up to find a short, thin girl with long black hair. She was clothed in a skintight leather black suit. A tail swished around her backside, drawing attention to it. On top of her silky looking hair were a pair of black cat ears. Drawn on her face was a cat nose and whiskers. A simple black mask covered her eyes.

She seemed familiar but Harry couldn't ever remember meeting anyone who looked like her.

"I'm not really into parties," he finally answered her.

"Too bad," she purred once again. "Do you have a partner, handsome?" She sauntered closer to him, running a hand down his shirt. The movement could barely be felt but it still sent shivers down his spine.

"N-no," he emphasized the word with a shake of his head.

"Good," came that purring voice before he was pulled to her. Without any hesitation, she kissed him, deeply and passionately.

Shock skyrocketed through him. A literal stranger was kissing him!

Gentle yet firm fingers curled themselves into his hair. She yanked on his hair slightly, angling him to deepen the kiss.

He knew he should push her away, but could not find the strength in him to do so. It was an experience like no other and one that probably wouldn't come around again. He kissed her back.

Hesitantly, he darted his tongue out. She opened her mouth to allow him entry. A pur rattled deep in her throat, urging him on. He could almost feel the sparks fly wherever she touched him.

. . . . .

"Hello Crabbe," Luna said to the plump boy who was enjoying the buffet.

He turned to look at her with wide eyes. "How'd you know it was me?"

She pointed to her face. "No disguise. What brings you here?"

He held up a finger made from rice krispies. "The food." Luna nodded, expecting such an answer from her Slytherin friend. "Where's your guy?"

"Back at Hogwarts. They," she pointed to where her friends were. Two of them obviously enjoying themselves. "Needed some fun."

Crabbe looked over to where she pointed and choked on his food. Blaise was basically glued to Ginny Weasley and Pansy was sucking face with Harry Potter.

Luna held up a finger to her lips. "Let's not tell. Wouldn't want to spoil their fun."

He gaped at her with an open mouth. "Fi-fine," he finally stuttered.

. . . .

Draco sighed and moved farther into the house. Thrashing, writhing bodies surrounded him. The music grew louder, pounding into his skull. He should have just stayed home.

"I should have just stayed home."

"Exactly!"

"Oh!" He turned and came face to face with the girl who had voiced his thoughts.

The girl's long brown hair hung straight, flowing around her shoulders like a waterfall. The different colors of her highlights shimmered and gave depth to her hair. Her chocolate brown eyes widened in surprise behind the green mask that she wore. Those eyes sent a shiver down his spine as a spark of recognition flowed through him.

Draco's eyes roamed up and down her body subconsciously. She wore a form fitting green dress that exposed her arms and legs. Painted on her, swirling up and down her arms and legs were leafy patterns with flowers. Adorning the top of her head was a flower crown. It was a completely different look from the black robes that he was used to seeing on her small figure.

"What are you, Mother nature?" Draco smirked.

The girl's eyes widened even further. "I am. So far I have been asked if I was a fairy or a tree sprite." She shouted to be heard over the music. "It's loud in here."

Draco gestured to the door. "Wanna go outside." He couldn't believe he was actually talking to Hermione.

The girl looked out into the crowd, her eyes landing on the dancing redhead who was snaking around Blaise. Then her eyes fell onto a blonde girl dressed in a crazy yellow top hat and feathers who was rubbing the back of a choking Crabbe. "Sure," she finally said.

Draco led them outside into the quiet night. Crickets chirped around them and the stars shone above them.

"This is a lot better," Draco mumbled. He was glad to finally be away from all of that loud music.

"Much," Mother Nature spoke with a small smile. "I'm not used to doing these kinds of things."

Draco nodded in agreement. "You and me both. Though you would probably prefer the library."

Mother Nature's chocolate brown eyes widened once again and her small, lush lips parted into a circle. "How?"

Draco let a small smirk slip to his lips. "We happen to attend the same school, Miss Hermione Granger." It had taken a second for Draco to realize who she was because of her hair but he had immediately recognized those brown eyes.

"Who are you?"

Draco waved a finger playfully. "You'll have to figure that out for yourself. Don't worry, you can come find me during school if you do figure it out."

Hermione put her hands on her hips and glared at him. "And why should I do that?" She demanded haughtily.

"Because of this," Draco leaned in closer and placed a chaste kiss to her lips. He pulled away just as fast as he had kissed her. "I'll let you in on a secret. You are one of the reasons I agreed to come." With that, he left the gaping girl behind while wearing a large, satisfied smirk. He had finally done the one thing had wanted to, he finally confessed. And hopefully, it was in a way that would drive the girl insane enough to think about him.
