CHAPTER 11: THE AWAKENING CEREMONY(2).

Rai jin walked slowly to the front of the classroom where Mr Lu was waiting for him. As expected, he was the last to be called in the whole class.

Mr Lu half heartedly gave him his no tag before sending him back.

The disgruntled look on Mr Lu's face accompanied Rai jin back to his peers.

"Ok, listen up everyone, today is the much awaited day, where you will finally become one of the pillars of earth, powerful individuals who will protect earth in years to come, you will all test your magical affinity today, thereafter you will awaken primary magical elements that are most suited for you." Mr Lu said to them.

The faces of the students lit up, today was a special day and they all knew it, whatever happens today will dictate the course of their lives.

"There are going to be influential and Powerful people present at today"s magical awakening event, even the headmaster himself will be present at today's event." Mr Lu"s face lit up at the mention of the principal, it would be amazing if one of his home-room students happened to awaken a powerful element that would catch the attention of the headmaster.

That increase in wage would go a long way for him at the moment. His wife was pregnant, and everyone knows a new baby brings up more expenses, he would have to move to a bigger house, probably buy a new car, his four seater car would have one more passenger now, and…..

"Mr Lu" A student called, jilting Mr Lu back to reality.

"Yes Do ha?" Mr Lu replied recognising the student who had called him, it was one of the students he had high hopes for.

On the ID around his neck, the no tag 7 was boldly written, he was the one ranked seventh in the whole class, he was a promising student, unlike that frustrating baboon of a student that calls himself Rai jin, on several occasions he had tried to transfer him out of his class, but obviously none of the other teachers want him, so he was stuck with his dumb prize of a student.

Rai jin was chatting with Da lu and MU lan, when he felt a shiver run down his spine, it felt as if someone was drilling holes in his back, he looked back only to meet Mr Lu's grinning face, staring at him directly, his teeth in full display.

**who knows, maybe he was admiring me, Gosh, am I too good looking for this world, first Eun gi and now Mr Lu**

"I heard, one of the representatives of the Beijing Magic Association will be present today" The student named Do ha asked, excitement written all over his face.

"I heard a rumour it will be Beyonder Mage You Ban" another student in the class chipped in.

"Wow, is that true?"

"Isn't he one of the higher ups in the Beijing Magic Association?"

"I am getting chills".

"Ok Students, quiet down" Mr Lu cautioned.

"That information is correct, and not just the Beijing Magic Association, today's event has always been a medium for top powerhouses of the world to recruit exceptional talents into their ranks. What does this means, The Magic Association have always graced the awakening ceremonies of top schools like ours, to recruit students who showcase amazing talents early before they get snatched by other power houses.

Powerful families all over the states will also be present, all in the hopes of spotting a rare talent and recruit them into their families" Mr Lu responded.

"So, for people among you, who have a rough background, getting picked for sponsorship will be a life changing occurrence. If you happen to awaken a powerful element, you might be lucky to catch the eye of one of these powerhouses, if you agree to join their ranks, they will sponsor you with resources that would help your cultivation, being a magician is not in anyway cheap, so catching the eye of one of these powerhouses would be a prayer come true for you"Mr Lu explained to them.

"Awwwwn, Mr Lu believes in us so much, we better not let him down" Soo Hee, the class social media celebrity, echoed.

"I will awaken a fire element Mr Lu" one of the students shouted.

"With your 40th rank?" If you awaken a good element, I will become your slave for a year straight."

"You all, Mr Lu sees us as his children, that is why he is so sure we will awaken the best elements there are, right Mr Lu?" Soo Here asked.

"Uhhhhh??... Oh Yes, it is because I love you all so much" Mr Lu replied, trying his best to bring out a fake smile.

"Ok, students, Let's all proceed to the hall, the other classes are already making their way there, the event is about to start" Mr Informed the students as he led the way towards the hall.

*****************************************************************************************************************************

The hall was in no way a hall, the event was scheduled to hold in the largest space in the Donghai Magic Academy, it was a big stadium, that could house more than a thousand people, right now it was filled with students and more were still trooping in, apart from the students several other people who had been invited were present.

Rai jin couldn't help but to gasp in shock as their class trooped in, The Tian Lan Grand Hall wasn't new to them. Rai Jin had been there several times — assemblies, boring announcements, and once, detention duty after Mulan accidentally blew up a practice dummy. But today… it felt completely different.

The moment he stepped in, a strange pressure brushed against his skin — soft, but heavy, like invisible waves of mana washing through the air. The whole place shimmered faintly, every wall inscribed with glowing runes that pulsed in slow rhythm. Above, floating crystals cast a cascade of shifting lights — blue, gold, and violet — making everything gleam as if the air itself was alive.

"Whoa…" Rai Jin muttered, glancing up. "Why does the place feel like it's trying to breathe down my neck?"

Mu lan chuckled. "That's the aura of big shots, bro. There are at least twenty high-ranked mages here. One sneeze from them and we'll evaporate."

Not just Rai jin, every other students were also marvelling at the awe of the grand hall and the groundbreaking chilling aura of the powerful mages around them as it made their hair stand in shock.

Rai Jin grinned. "So basically, I should hold my breath till this event ends."

Da Lu was busy scanning the arena with calculating eyes. "You're both exaggerating. The ambient mana density is about five times higher than usual. That's expected when so many powerful individuals are gathered in one place."

Rai Jin blinked. "Da Lu, you do realize no one asked for a scientific explanation of 'breathing magic air,' right?"

Mulan burst out laughing. "He can't help it, bro — he's allergic to normal conversation."

Da Lu sighed. "I'm allergic to stupidity."

The trio found seats among their classmates as more people filed in. Around them, the atmosphere buzzed — students whispering, professors exchanging greetings, magical energy swirling gently in the air like invisible mist. Some older mages glowed faintly, their bodies radiating a calm but overwhelming power that made Rai Jin's stomach tighten.

****when would he become as powerful as them to radiate this kind of chilling aura, even with the crystal offering him slight protection as it did against Lin Wei, he was completely overwhelmed in the presence of these people****

He leaned toward Mulan and whispered, "You feel that? Like… the air's thicker?"

"Yeah," Mulan nodded, eyes wide. "It's like the mana itself knows it should behave."

"Guess we should too," Rai Jin said, smirking. "Wouldn't wanna sneeze and start a magical war."

Mulan snorted, and even Da Lu allowed himself the faintest smile.

As the sound of the mana bell echoed through the hall — deep, resonant, and commanding — the crowd fell silent. Rai Jin straightened up slightly, still grinning.

"Alright," he murmured under his breath. "Let's see what kind of madness today brings."
